by Albert Rodriguez SGN A&E Writer 2010 Kokua Festival April 23-24 Waikiki Shell (Honolulu, Hawaii) News of the Kokua Festival’s cancelation in 2009 saddened the hearts of Hawaiians and fans of Jack Johnson, who – as co-founder of this homegrown music event – is assured a headlining spot on the performing lineup. But Johnson more than made up for last year’s absence, with help from an eclectic and impressive group of artists who rocked and rolled their way to a gem of a two-day concert last weekend, April 23-24.

Johnson, sporting a full head of wavy hair in contrast to his usual buzz cut, played similar sets on Friday and Saturday, though he altered them slightly. Surprisingly, the pop singer-songwriter only performed one new track from his upcoming album, To the Sea – the tune is called “You and Your Heart,” and it has a bit of a rock edge thanks to an electric guitar vs. his standard acoustic. “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” sounded refreshingly cool and got everyone

The BIG Spring Tour 2010 May 7 Café Metropolitain Openly Gay singer-songwriters Tom Goss and Jeremiah Clark are bringing The BIG Spring Tour 2010 to Café Metropolitain on May 7.

Goss, a nationally touring independent singer/songwriter, told SGN that fans can expect an “energetic, acoustic set with pop and rock influences.” Goss’ 2009 video for “Till The End” created a major buzz by notching over 100,000 views after an exclusive online release; seven months later, based on a listener-supported campaign, it climbed to the top on MTV’s LOGO and stayed there for six weeks.

Seattle’s 2010-2011 musical theater season

BONUS: Special Engagement of RIVERDANCE (June 3-June 5, 2011) Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre has formed a reputation for bringing a variety of musicals to Seattle audiences. Shows ranging from tried-and-true classics to those on the cutting edge and original productions courtesy 9to5themusical.com

Seattle is being hailed as a large theater town. Residents of the Emerald City are privileged to have several good theater companies performing fringe and local productions, as well as touring Broadway companies coming through with nationally known material. The two main musical theater production houses in Seattle are 5th Avenue Theatre and the Broadway Across America series, housed at the Paramount Theatre. The upcoming seasons have been announced for both, and each are showcasing wonderful lineups of great shows.

Broadway Across America and the Seattle Theatre Group have teamed up to bring Seattle some of the best of Broadway available. In the past, Key Bank’s “Broadway at the Paramount” has been responsible for bringing such exclusive engagements as WICKED!, Monty Python’s Spamalot, and The Color Purple to the Seattle stage.

HAIR (November 28-December 4, 2010): HAIR created more than stirrings when it arrived on Broadway in 1968; it created a legend. With songs ranging from “Aquarius” to “Let the Sunshine In,” this musical celebrates “tribal” living at the time of the ‘60s. This revival was nominated for eight Tony Awards and won Best Revival of a Musical (2009).

ROCK OF AGES (February 8-13, 2011): An original jukebox musical, the show celebrates the big-haired glam metal bands.

Known for its lightheartedness, the show involves the audience as it blasts the songs

of Twisted Sister, Poison, Styx, Bon Jovi, and Pat Benatar, among other ‘80s favorites.

An Iliad Seattle Repertory Theatre Through May 16 An Iliad is a new adaptation of the Greek story of Troy and the war with Greece. National talent and co-author Denis O’Hare was also going to act in this presentation, now at Seattle Repertory Theatre, but got one of those “too good to turn down” offers in Hollywood, so he continued work on the script with Lisa Peterson while Hans Altweis was cast in his stead.

This condensed version of the epic tale brings it to an accessible length of 90 or

A Christmas Story, the Musical (November 30-December 19, 2011): This beloved 1983 Christmas classic film is now on the stage. Making its debut in December 2009, this show is on the road before going to the Great White Way. Vanities (February 1-20, 2011): This musical follows the friendship of a trio of girls over several years. Starting as high school seniors, the girls go through college together and then venture out into the world. One girl discovers that planned dreams can go wrong, one girl discovers the sexual revolution, and one tries to discover who she really is as the bonds of friendship are tested.

Next to Normal (February 22-March 13, 2011): With a controversial edge, this musical follows a dysfunctional family that deals with hidden secrets, bi-polar disorder, and electroshock therapy. With a haunting score, it was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical of 2009, and won three. It also won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, being only the sixth play ever to hold the honor.

9 to 5 the Musical (April 5-April 24, 2011): Based on the 1980 film, three working gals get revenge on their boss, a “sexiest, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.”

Using songs from the movie as well as original music and lyrics from Dolly Parton, the show was nominated for four 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Score.

The season is rounded out with two classics: Guys & Dolls (May 14-June 3, 2011) and Oklahoma (July 10-30, 2011).

No matter what your musical theater tastes are, there is something to please them in the upcoming Seattle season. Both Broadway Across America at the Paramount Theatre and 5th Avenue Theatre usually offer discounts for season tickets or package deals to allow more personal choices. The magic of live theater is not something to be missed, and with these choices of great upcoming shows, Seattle continues to live up to its reputation of being one of the premier “theater towns” in the United States.

90 minutes and we don’t find it that compelling. How could he possibly stretch it out for months and keep it interesting?

Altweis began by helping us connect to the reality of what nine years can actually feel like: you go away when your child is 1 and come back when he’s 10; you come back and your wife or parent have died.

People don’t wear “that old stuff” anymore. That music is “old,” that store closed a long time ago. It’s a nice way to demonstrate what nine years feels like. It leads to thoughts like, “What the heck do you do living on a ship for years at a

time?”

There are ways that it brings a grounded, engaging reality to the story, but the telling wears thin.

When Altweis becomes the enraged Achilles or the weary Hector, the glimpse of the real talent of “the storyteller” emerges. When he lists many of the major wars that have taken place since the Greek wars – and there are many, many, many to list – you might end up feeling a little pummeled by the “war is bad” lesson.

The “why” of the production is based on rocky logic, and produces an unbalanced evening.

No One Knows About Persian Cats Opening April 30 Music is a universal language that often touches young people in powerful ways.

Ah, youth, those headstrong searchers of truth, those romantics, filling rooms with

poetry, raging hormones, and wanderlust while searching for the answers to the previous generation’s failures.

It doesn’t matter where they come from, either. Young folks from Berlin to San Francisco, from Moscow to Buenos Aires, from Tokyo to Tehran, express their angst, frustration, passion, and hope through music.

No One Knows About Persian Cats is about

two young musicians from Tehran and their passionate desire to express themselves through music in the shadow of an oppressive government that draws its authority from religious tradition.

Negar and Ashkan have just been released from prison and their first order of business is to form a band, get some cash, and obtain forged passports so they can fulfill their dream of making music and traveling across Europe. No One Knows About Persian Cats follows the couple though the underground culture of contemporary Tehran, a city in which certain types of music have been banned since the Islamic revolution 30 years ago.

While the conducting is detailed but terribly slow (Zubin Mehta), the singers are all firstrate and do an excellent job of acting as well as singing. Instead, the writer/director Bahman Ghobadi tortures the political message that would have been more poignant had he trusted his narrative structure and allowed the oppressive nature of contemporary Iranian culture to bubble up through the scenes depicting the subterranean world of Tehran’s music scene.

The best parts of No One Knows About Persian Cats are the sequences in which the kids meet up with various bands and musicians to find members for their own band.

They go from one underground location to another, listening to a distinct style of music at every turn. The music runs the gamut from traditional Persian poetry set to traditional Persian music to an awesome Iranian version of heavy metal that must be seen to be believed.

No One Knows About Persian Cats is now playing at Landmark’s Varsity Theatre. The story’s interesting – even if the message is a bit overwrought – but the real reason to see this terrific film is the amazing music.

This is truly an amazing age for electronic means with which to appreciate music with visuals. I will offer some personal suggestions of the very best classical and opera DVDs and BDs in a later article.

Seattle Opera’s newest commission, Amelia, looks great

There has been a quiet revolution in the recording of music that most people are not aware of. Unless you have your DVD or Blu-Ray (BD) player connected to a good stereo or surround system, you may not have noticed that recent DVDs and BDs of classical music and opera have not only come of age but are also cheaper and better than CDs. Don’t ask me why a DVD or BD of a long Wagner opera is cheaper to buy than the corresponding CD! CDs have been overpriced almost from the git-go, but something about the video market has made it a better deal, especially now that BDs are almost as cheap as DVDs. But what excites me even more than the price comparison is the astounding quality of current video discs of music. A supreme example of this is the series of Mahler symphonies on DVDs from EuroArts, recorded at the Lucerne Festival under Claudio Abbado. First of all, the picture and sound qualities could hardly be better. Camera angles and editing actually add to one’s ability to hear fine details in Mahler’s complex and

mental works (Tan Dun, John Adams, etc.) write boringly for the voice, I asked Mr. Hagen how he felt about the subject. He said it helps in writing for voice through knowing the physicality of singing. He felt that having studied voice to be a singer helped him a great deal.

Next came a conversation between Stephen Wadsworth and baritone David McFerrin (who alternates with Nathan Gunn) in the major part of Paul. But first, David wowed us with his moving singing of an aria, which is actually a reading of a letter from the deceased Dodge, father of Amelia.

Paul finds this letter on the pillow of Amelia, who is in a coma. Any questions about Hagen’s ability to write well for the voice were completely dispelled!

As ever, Wadsworth poured forth a flood of articulate information about this opera, the basic story for which he himself composed.

If the emotional content of this press preview was any indication of the opera itself, we are in for a treat when it opens at McCaw Hall on May 8. Tickets can be purchased from Seattle Opera at their website or by calling 206-389-7676.

Compañia Nacional de Danza, Sonny Rollins, 110 in the Shade

It contrasted incredibly joyful ensemble movements associated with the Mediterranean personality with low, mournful solos expressing how hard their life is. That dance, done expressively by Ana Maria Lopez, made Cuteness think of a widow confronting so much gaiety.

The second song, “Kol Nidre,” was wonderful in its North American premiere. It addressed the youngest victims of war with sad spirituality. Its title refers to the Jewish Day of Atonement.

The music by John Avener, Arvo Part, and John Zorn was apt.

Mercy and Cuteness both agreed that the final dance, “Cobalto,” was brave in its subject matter, but had different interpretations of what that was. Mercy thought it was about tortured prisoners, C u t e ness about S & M .

Mercy had to agree with Cuteness once she read the program notes. They both found the music

Cuteness pointed out they had recently seen a dance with a similar theme choreographed by Ulysses Dove, which she felt was much better, largely because it had a sense of humor. That element also made it impossible for Mercy to make her error about Dove’s dance.

Sonny Rollins at the Paramount Mercy and Cuteness are really, really, really looking forward to seeing Sonny Rollins at the Paramount on May 10.

Theodore Walter Rollins was born on September 7, 1930, in New York City. He grew up in Harlem, not far from the Savoy Ballroom, the Apollo Theatre, and the doorstep of his idol, Coleman Hawkins.

After early discovery of Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong, he started out on alto saxophone, inspired by Louis Jordan. At the age of 16, he switched to tenor, trying to emulate Hawkins. He also fell under the spell of bebop, the musical revolution that surrounded him.

He began to follow Charlie Parker, and soon came under the wing of Thelonious Monk, who became his musical mentor and guru. Living in Sugar Hill, his neighborhood musical peers included Jackie McLean, Kenny Drew, and Sonny Rollins

Art Taylor, but it was young Sonny who was first out of the pack, working and recording with Babs Gonzales, J.J. Johnson, Bud Powell, and Miles Davis before he turned 20.

“Of course, these people are there to be called on because I think I represent them in a way,” Rollins said recently of his peers and mentors. “They’re not here now so I feel like I’m sort of representing all of them, all of the guys. Remember, I’m one of the last guys left, as I’m constantly being told, so I feel a holy obligation sometimes to evoke these people.”

In the early ‘50s, he established a reputation first among musicians, then the public, as the most brash and creative young tenor on the scene, through his work with Miles, Monk, and the MJQ. Miles Davis was an early Sonny Rollins fan and in his autobiography wrote that he “began to hang out with Sonny Rollins and his Sugar Hill Harlem crowd … anyway, Sonny had a big reputation among a lot of the younger musicians in Harlem. People loved Sonny Rollins up in Harlem and everywhere else. He was a legend, almost a god to a lot of the younger musicians. Some thought he was playing the saxophone on the level of Bird. I know one thing – he was close. He was an aggressive, innovative player who always had fresh musical ideas. I loved him back then as a player and he could also write his ass off….”

He won his first performance Grammy for This Is What I Do (2000), and his second for the album 2004’s Without a Song (The 9/11 Concert) in the Best Jazz Instrumental Solo category (for the track “Why Was I Born”). In addition, Sonny received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2004.

In June 2006, Rollins was inducted into the Academy of Achievement – and gave a solo performance – at the International Achievement Summit in Los Angeles. The event was hosted by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg and attended by world leaders as well as distinguished figures in the arts and sciences.

Rollins was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, First Class, in

November 2009. The award is one of Austria’s highest honors, given to leading international figures for distinguished achievements. The only other American artists who have received this recognition are Frank Sinatra and Jessye Norman.

Rollins was elected members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, it was announced on April 26.

“I am convinced that all art has the desire to leave the ordinary,” Rollins said in a recent interview for the Catalan magazine Jaç, “and to say it one way, at a spiritual level, a state of the exaltation at existence.

All art has this in common. But jazz, the world of improvisation, is perhaps the highest, because we do not have the opportunity to make changes. It’s as if we were painting before the public, and the following morning we cannot go back and correct that blue color or change that red. We have to have the blues and reds very well-placed before going out to play. So for me, jazz is probably the most demanding art.”

And Sonny Rollins – seeker and grand master – is jazz’s most exacting, exhilarating, and inspiring practitioner.

Many of the shows Clark and Goss play are in small and intimate settings – something which the two men say makes for a unique live experience. “Our music is, in many ways, an extremely personal part of who we are, and we connect to the audience because of that,” Clark told SGN. “You don’t often get that kind of performance with touring musicians. You have popular artists selling out arenas and concert halls and perhaps one day, we will be those musicians … but for now, we prefer to reach out to fans in a different way that speaks to them on a level you can’t get in stadium seating.”

“The great thing about what Jeremiah and I do is that we create a dialogue between the audience,” said Goss. “We want people to feel comfortable asking questions, interacting, and really being an integral part of the audience.”

Being an openly Gay artist in 2010 could mean many different things for many different people. For Clark, it means that “I actively work to be a positive role model for other LGBTQ individuals, especially youth.

For me it means there is an extra level of responsibility. I’m more than a musician, I’m also a representative of the community.”

“After some very difficult struggles, both of us are now very comfortable with our sexuality, and our ultimate goal as musicians is simply to share our music with the world in hopes that people are impacted in both a positive and lasting manner,” said Goss. “Though we didn’t necessarily sign up for a political role in society, we’re given the responsibility to stand up and speak out on numerous issues … a role that we do not take lightly. Just as with a senator or business leader, Tom and I have the unique ability to represent and convey specific views we have about Gay rights and be the voice for so many people who otherwise may not have been heard.”

Goss says that they are thankful to be blessed with supportive fans and friends because “without that, we simply wouldn’t be able to do this every day.”

Clark and Goss met in 2008 when Goss was touring Pittsburgh. “We started chatting online, he [Clark] said he was a musician as well,” Goss told SGN. “Before the Pittsburgh show, we got together, worked on a song and performed it that night. We had a lot of fun and since then we’ve continued to perform together. He’s got a great voice and a great sense of musical arrangement, I’m happy to be touring with him.”

“We realized very early on that we work well together and that’s not easy to find when you’re so accustomed to doing everything by yourself,” said Clark. “When Tom started to book this tour, he called me up and asked me if I’d like to tag along. I said ‘Yes!’ without even considering life on the road because I try to live my life in the moment and thought this would be an amazing opportunity.”

The BIG Spring Tour 2010 is an ambitious 40-city tour, however, both artists say they are living it up. “Last time I counted, the tour had grown to 51 cities,” Goss told SGN. “There is not better way to get music out to an audience than a live performance.

Every day I get to a new city and see old and new faces, I simply light up. This is why I do what I do.”

“At the end of the day, I think we’re both extremely thankful for the opportunity,” Clark said. “Tom had been doing this with other artists before, but still many of his shows were solo. Now that I’m along, he has someone to help share the many difficult burdens to bear like driving, hauling equipment, entertaining and so on.”

I go for an audition for cable TV, they want acting more than type. It’s about being a character instead of hitting the punch lines.

I loved doing Hung on HBO. I get to play a part called “Horny Patty.” How can you not love a job like that?

Andrews-Katz: You’ve been defined as performing “confessional comedy.” Can you explain what that means?

Weedman: I tell a lot! There is nothing off-limits in the “personal realms” of my life. I use myself, so I can’t make anything up. I’m always trying to base my characters on someone I know. But my goal is to work it into a play … and not just me confessing stuff on stage.

Andrews-Katz: How many one-woman shows have you written?

Weedman: About nine, and No … You Shut Up is the latest. I first wrote it in 2009 for a theater in Boise, Idaho. I wasn’t happy with it, and after an artist retreat and workshops, I slowly worked on it. I had a baby in the meantime, and even that helped the show.

Andrews-Katz: You’ve done internships with Empty Space and have worked with other theaters in Seattle. Do you find Seattle to be a theater town?

Weedman: Seattle is where I got started. I was here for five years and that was vital for getting my voice. This is a great community because the people who want to see shows see them. There is tons of support. Even though I’m from Indianapolis, Indiana, I always think that I am from Seattle because my favorite people are here.

‘The Beatles are coming, The Beatles are coming.’ You could feel that this was going to be something big. History proved just how big of an event it was because the whole country got swept up in Beatle-mania.”

Bithorn has performed as George Harrison in RAIN since 1983. “I identify with George [Harrison] because he was lead guitarist in the band. Starting from around 8 years old, I was interested in playing the guitar,” he said. “For his time, George was a very well-schooled guitarist. He was just amazing.”

Bithorn never got the chance to meet Harrison, or any other member of The Beatles, but says he draws inspiration from their music and the many people he knows who had the opportunity to meet, or work with, The Beatles.

RAIN has continually toured across

the country and many parts of the world.

Bithorn told SGN that audience members range from “6 to 60.” He said it is great to see the younger generations identify with The Beatles’ music. “It isn’t too surprising, though,” he added. “They were all great musicians and as singers – you couldn’t touch them. Their harmonies are amazing.”

Bithorn says that performing The Beatles’ music for their fans is a great experience, particularly because “the audience responds all the way through.”

“It is amazing,” he said. “The Beatles’ music has the quality of being in the ‘now.’

These songs are so well-written it is like hearing them for the first time. The melodies, chord changes, and lyrics were so well-crafted.”

Aside from Bithorn as George Harrison, RAIN includes Joey Curatolo as Paul McCartney, Ralph Castelli as Ringo Starr, and David Leon as John Lennon, along with keyboard and percussionist Mark Beyer.

According to Bithorn, RAIN has performed in Seattle before – most notably in 1990, when a Seattle Beatles exposition promoter hired RAIN to recreate The Beatles’ legendary 1969 rooftop concert. The Fab Four had played a surprise lunch-hour set of new material (which would end up on their Let It Be album) on top of the five-story London building that housed the Abbey Road recording studios.

RAIN obliged, playing the 10-song set note for note on a downtown Seattle rooftop, then concluding with the post-Beatles Lennon single “Imagine” as an encore.

“The body of work by The Beatles is timeless, and is the classical music of our time,” Bithorn says.

“For the most part, generations of the later 20th century didn’t grow up with Mozart, Beethoven or Brahms. They grew up with The Beatles.”

“We are bringing the opportunity for fans to be able to witness this music live,” he said. “For most of our audience, this is the soundtrack of their lives.”

RAIN – A Tribute to The Beatles May 7-9 Paramount Theatre On February 9, 1964, millions of Americans tuned into The Ed Sullivan Show to watch The Beatles – four mop-topped Englishmen who would go on to become arguably the biggest rock band of all time. Even now, The Beatles’ songbook is instantly recognizable as artist after artist covers their music year after year. Although the band made music for nearly 10 years, the Fab Four’s final concert tour was in 1966, so a vast majority of their fans never got to see them perform live. Enter RAIN. RAIN, a tribute band to The Beatles, performs the full range of The Beatles’ discography live onstage, including the most complex and challenging songs that The Beatles themselves recorded in the studios but never performed for an audience. From the early days of their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 through the Sgt. Pepper era and on to the Abbey Road years, RAIN performs it all. In fact, RAIN has over 200 Beatles songs in their repertoire.

“For anyone who is a true fan, you’d be disappointed to miss the show,” Joe Bithorn, who plays the part of George Harrison in RAIN, told SGN. “Fans can expect to see a multi-media presentation – a back-in-time history of the Beatles – through video clips, commercials, and other historical references to the history of the 1960s.

Bithorn, who says music was at the forefront of his childhood, first saw The Beatles when he was a boy. “When I saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, I was flabbergasted,” he told SGN. “At the time, in New York, there was this big buildup from the local radio stations who were announcing

usually influenced by theater folk because it’s more performance pieces that I do, so my influence came mostly from Patton Oswalt and Danny Hach, who does monologues in different characters.

Andrews-Katz: Where do you find your inspirations?

Weedman: From personal trauma. When I write shows they are based on anything that has obsessed me or hurt me. Anything that has pushed me to the edge and has affected me is fair game.

Andrews-Katz: What was your first stage job?

Weedman: It was in Amsterdam. I was in a play playing “crazy lady under the bridge.”

The first time I got commissioned to write a show was at the Seattle Repertory Theatre.

Andrews-Katz: Is there a theme to your show, No … You Shut Up? Weedman: It’s about families. I tell a story about never feeling a part of any family; I’m more like a visitor to others. This show is about creating families and broken families, new families and newly formed families. It’s also about my son and about tattoos.

Andrews-Katz: You’ve worked on Reno 911 and The Daily Show, among others. Tell me about your Oxygen Network series: Our Bodies, Myself.

Weedman: That was a web series and those installments are only on the web (www.funnyordie.com/lauren_weedman).

They are a parody of self-help from a woman who needs it the most.

Andrews-Katz: What are some of the challenges of doing comedic television?

Weedman: Getting parts that are written and then being cast for them! The best success I have is from doing a cable TV series opposed to a network. Networks want a type: skinny, pretty, popular. … Every time

Now, G4G Seattle is likely the largest all women’s Gay dance party in the country and a staple of the Pacific Northwest’s Lesbian scene known for it’s absolutely sexy go-go dancers.

“We were originally at the Catwalk Club for about six years,” said Michelle Waye, owner of Girl4Girl Seattle. G4G now hosts parties and events all over Washington.

A few years back, Waye sold G4G to Chris Chappon, a former G4G go-go dancer.

“She took it mainstream,” Waye told SGN. “She brought in a lot of big performers and held events at bigger places like the Showbox, and then she handed it back to me.”

Waye has had G4G back now for seven months, and since then she’s continued where Chappon left off, pouring tremendous amounts of energy into the promotional company, and with the largest all-girl dance night in the Seattle area and two huge events scheduled for Pride, the fruits of her labor are clear: G4G puts on the most flatout sexy parties for girls who like girls.

The party generally brings out about 450600 women every month.

G4G is a gender-exclusive party. Ten men (or anyone who identifies as a man) are allowed in per night and must be accompanied by a woman to enter. “[G4G] isn’t about recreating a typical bar scene. It’s about a fun, unique, inviting, and stimulating all-women’s event,” Chappon told a Curve Magazine reporter last year.

Aside from the visual stimulation (hot gogo dancers), the other big draw of the party is DJ Stacey Cooks, who helped start G4G. “She’s super high-energy,” said Waye. DJ Cooks has an uncanny ability to focus on the crowd and mix accordingly.

G4G strives to provide the most highenergy dance parties for women of all ages (21+) in the Pacific Northwest.

Waye’s next party, Hush, is put on under a different production name, Original Glam, as it caters to both men and women. want to do anything but cry and thank God.” Obviously both Jujubee and Raven were sad not to win, but they gave the winner her props. “Not too many people know this, but Tyra came to the competition with one suitcase,” Raven revealed. “She utilized the resources in the workroom and turned out some amazing shit! We all had loads of drag we brought with us and she ended up taking it to the top!” Jujubee gave it up for Tyra as well. “She deserves it. Yes, I was disappointed I didn’t win, but now that I think

back, she’s the one.”

So what’s next for the newest Drag Queen superstar? Tyra said she would love to work as a film actor and TV producer like Tyler Perry, and hopes to make it onto a screen near you both as Tyra and her alter ego, James. In the meantime, Tyra is settling into her title and what will be a very exciting summer on Logo’s Drag Tour featuring ABSOLUT drinks. You did a great job, my fellow Drag Race winner!
