ACADEMIC REVIEW 2026

Academic Excellence, Powered by Heart.

CHINTHURST SCHOOL

“Both of our children have been challenged to reach their potential, encouraged and supported to do the very best they can. Our son has now begun at Reigate Grammar School with an academic scholarship, while his younger sister continues to thrive at Chinthurst. It has been a wonderful place for both our children to grow in confidence, develop their individual strengths and, most importantly, be happy.” Chinthurst Parent

ACADEMIC REVIEW 2026

WELCOME FROM THE HEAD At Chinthurst, we are proudly ambitious for every child. Academic excellence sits at the heart of our education, but what matters just as much is how it is achieved. Children thrive when they feel happy, known and encouraged; when their curiosity is sparked, their confidence grows and they develop a genuine love of learning. Expert teaching and an ambitious, engaging curriculum give children strong foundations from the earliest years. With the right balance of support and challenge, they are encouraged to think independently, embrace new ideas and discover just how much they are capable of – developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to flourish at senior school and beyond. Chinthurst children benefit from two highly successful pathways to senior school. As part of the RGS Family of Schools, every child receives an early offer in Year 5 to either Reigate Grammar School or RGS Surrey Hills, providing a clear pathway to two outstanding senior schools with exceptional results at GCSE and A Level. For children looking to other leading senior schools, our established 11+ programme provides individual preparation and support, with an excellent record of success. Whichever pathway is right for your child, the starting point is the same: knowing each child, believing in their potential and giving them the confidence and foundations to thrive. HOW WE ACHIEVE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AT CHINTHURST At Chinthurst, strong academic outcomes begin with knowing each child and creating an environment in which they feel confident to challenge themselves, think independently and enjoy learning.

HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR EVERY CHILD Children are known as individuals, enabling teachers to understand where they are in their learning and what they need to progress. The right balance of support and challenge helps every child build on their strengths and make excellent progress from their own starting point.

AN AMBITIOUS CURRICULUM Our curriculum goes beyond simply acquiring knowledge. Children are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions, make connections and apply what they have learnt, developing the knowledge, skills and habits that underpin future success.

“Leaders actively promote a culture of aspiration and high achievement for all.” ISI Report 2026

TWO SUCCESSFUL PATHWAYS TO SENIOR SCHOOL Chinthurst children benefit from two highly successful pathways. As part of the RGS Family of Schools, every child receives an early offer in Year 5 to either Reigate Grammar School or RGS Surrey Hills. For children looking to other leading senior schools, our established 11+ programme provides individual preparation and support, with an excellent record of success.

READY FOR WHAT COMES NEXT By Year 6, children are confident, increasingly independent learners, with strong academic foundations and effective study habits. Our Senior School Ready programme builds on this through opportunities to engage with the Year 7 curriculum, alongside enterprise projects, leadership, public speaking, collaborative challenges and real-world problem solving. Experiences beyond the classroom, including the Year 6 residential to France, provide further opportunities to develop independence, confidence and resilience. Together, these experiences ensure children are academically and personally ready to make a successful transition to senior school.
