The time has come – for an update of our policies about wearing masks in church. The Cathedral Chapter had a lengthy discussion on this issue at our November meeting; the Cathedral staff leadership has had lengthy discussions almost daily! So, as of this Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent, we will no longer be required to wear a mask while attending worship services at the Cathedral. We still encourage each other to wear a mask, just as we encourage each other to get a vaccination, because we know that younger children are not yet able to be fully vaccinated. However, we also recognize that many of us have been fully vaccinated and have good reason to believe that taking off our mask does not pose a substantial risk to ourselves or others. The time has come for each of us to have our own choice, our own freedom, and our own responsibility not to expose others to disease. We can do that. I look forward to seeing you in church this Sunday!
