CALLING ALL GOD'S LITTLE CHILDREN! The Allegro Choir for children in Kindergarten-2nd grade is looking for more singers! Led by Sarah Cauthen, the Allegro Choir is a fun, energetic environment where children can develop musically and spiritually. Class time is educational, fun, and purposeful. Using play, movement, singing, and musical instruments, children develop musical skills and an appreciation for music!

Allegro Choir meets on Wednesdays from 5–5:45 p.m.

We also offer Music for Young Children! This program offers a sequential plan for the musical development of each child. Babies and toddlers are surrounded in a safe musical environment with the loving guidance of a parent or caregiver.

Half-hour classes for babies and toddlers are held Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 1 p.m.

Wind Dancer classes for pre-schoolers age 3-5 years allow the child a more active role in music-making using Musikgarten curriculum while exploring the beauty of nature and God's world! Wind Dancer classes (45 minutes) are held on Wednesdays at 4 p.m.

WORD TO YOUR MOTHER WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 7 P.M. OR MONDAY, OCTOBER 4, 12 P.M. Canon Lauren Holder facilitates this book study intentionally geared toward busy, busy moms. This group covers a range of topics, including parenting, marriage, women’s spirituality, faith at home, and friendship. While this group is specifically designed for moms, it is open to all women.

OUTREACH HELP WELCOME AFGHAN ALLIES TO GEORGIA FINAL WEEK TO DONATE - PLEASE ENSURE ALL DONATIONS ARE RECEIVED BY OCTOBER 3.

To help rapidly resettle and support a large influx of Afghan special immigrant visa holders into the metro Atlanta area, our friends at Inspiritus are gathering much needed items for these families including: blankets, clothing (men, women, children, and babies), diapers, baby food, canned goods, rice, and oil. These items will be used to supplement the emergency kit they give each family upon arrival.

The Cathedral Young Professionals are also collecting gift cards from grocery stores and general merchandise stores to donate to families so they may purchase additional needed items. Donations can be left at the information desk in the Atrium. (Please make a note that they are for the Inspiritus collection drive).

Congregational LIFE SUICIDE INTERVENTION TRAINING DECEMBER 10 – 11, 8 A.M. – 5 P.M. Whether at work, at home, with friends or teammates, or in more formal helping roles, many of us have been, or will be, called upon to respond to someone who is experiencing a mental-health crisis or considering suicide. The Cathedral is hosting a two-day workshop in one of the world’s leading suicide-intervention models, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). ASIST teaches individuals to provide a skilled intervention to a person who may be having thoughts of suicide and develop a collaborative safety plan to keep them safe and alive. Cathedral CHAPTER WE ARE ACCEPTING CANDIDATES FOR NOMINATION TO THE CATHEDRAL CHAPTER The Chapter Nominating Committee has begun their work of assembling a slate of nominees for the 2022 Cathedral Chapter. They invite anyone in the parish to submit recommendations of qualified candidates.

As the governing body of the Cathedral, the Chapter determines policy issues and provides stewardship of the Cathedral’s complex operations. Each month, the Chapter formally reviews the status of each of the Cathedral’s parochial entities and ministries, and oversees parish financial statements. Unlike smaller parishes, the Cathedral Chapter does not usually get involved in the day-to-day activities of the Cathedral. In our large and complex system, the Chapter of the Cathedral operates as a board of trustees or board of stewards.

Each Chapter member serves a three-year term. Our Church By-laws allow for members to be: “Any communicant of the parish in good and regular standing, who is not less than eighteen years of age, a regular attendant in Cathedral worship in the year preceding election, and known by the treasurer to have made and maintained a stated financial commitment for church support in the year preceding election.” (A “communicant” is a baptized member who has been confirmed.) The most important quality of an effective Chapter member is an ability to see the larger picture. Most have held leadership positions in more than one of the church’s ministries or parochial entities.

After recommendations are given to the Nominating Committee, eligibility is verified and candidates are polled to confirm their interest and availability. The committee then chooses six strong candidates to send to the Chapter for approval. Finally, Chapter members are formally elected by the parish at the annual parish meeting in December.

The Nominating Committee reviews candidates who will round out the experience of the continuing Chapter members. We will seek to represent a broad range of age and gender groups, and a broad range of ministries and parochial entities of the Cathedral community.

Members of the committee include: Teddi Bair, John Beane, Haven Long, Coty Rosenblath. The Dean and Senior Warden Del King serve ex-officio.

2021 SPIRITUALITY CONFERENCE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 9:30 A.M. - 3 P.M. Amy-Jill Levine, Ph.D., is Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford Seminary and University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies Emerita, as well as Mary Jane Werthan Professor of Jewish Studies Emerita at Vanderbilt University.

Understanding Jesus Means Understanding Judaism Jesus and his first followers were Jews, thoroughly grounded in Jewish Scripture, Jewish ethics and theology, and Jewish hopes. To understand the New Testament is thus to recover part of Jewish history. How has knowledge of this common history become lost? How might understanding the New Testament in its historical context provide not only a new way of approaching Jewish-Christian relations but also a new way of celebrating our common roots? Our topics include the Our Father prayer, the Parables of the Prodigal Son and the Good Samaritan, Jesus’ comments on observing Torah ( Jewish Law), and Jesus’ relations to women and to gentiles.
