Episcopal CHURCH WOMEN
GIVE THANKS WITH UTO
DIVORCE RECOVERY WORKSHOP
INGATHERING MAY 12
No matter what stage of separation or divorce you are experiencing or whether you have been divorced for years, it is never too late to consider having a categorically “good” divorce for children’s sake. Join Sarah Armstrong, author of The Mom’s Guide to a Good Divorce, Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m. in the Gould Room. Sarah will be offering tips and practical guidance on this sensitive family matter, and her book will be available for purchase. The event is complimentary. For questions, contact Natalie Jones Lacey, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Every day we have so many blessings that come our way. Let us rejoice and give thanks this spring by participating in our Cathedral’s United Thank Offering. UTO has been a tradition since 1889 and supports the missions and ministries of the Episcopal Church. Every cent collected fulfills diocesan grant requests. In the last 130 years, UTO has awarded 5,257 grants. UTO is entrusted to receive the offerings, and to distribute 100% of what is collected to support innovative mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion. Some recent grants have benefitted projects in the Diocese of Atlanta. For instance, in 2013 UTO gave a grant to St. Anthony’s Episcopal Church in Winder, Georgia to fund the creation of an anti-bullying DVD series. Here are some ways you and your family can participate: • Pick up a Blue Box in the Atrium and place it in a prominent place in your home. • Every night, think of one thing for which you are truly grateful for that day and then insert some coins or dollars in the Blue Box to express your gratitude. The United Thank Offering invites you to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for your blessings, and make an offering for each blessing. Through UTO, your blessings become blessings for others. Be grateful each day and share your gratitude by putting some coins into your Blue Box, which are available throughout the Cathedral this month.
RESPITE CARE Atlanta RESPITE CARE ATLANTA SEEKS VOLUNTEERS The Cathedral is part of an exciting, new initiative to provide weekday adult respite care in our community staffed primarily by volunteers. With other interfaith congregations, we have formed Respite Care Atlanta to offer a safe place for those with early to mid-stage cognitive impairment to interact with others, as well as give caregivers time for self-care. Will you volunteer to help us provide this vital service? Volunteer information sessions are scheduled for May 15 and June 10 from 10-11 a.m. To register, please email Lola Battle at email@example.com, no later than two days before the scheduled event.

Adult EDUCATION THE DEAN’S FORUM: EPISCOPAL PREACHING FOUNDATION FOUNDER GARY SHILLING
On Sunday, April 7, the Very Rev. Tracey Lind preached and spoke at the Dean’s Forum about her life since being diagnosed with dementia two years ago. To listen or watch, visit cathedralATL.org.
Next Sunday, April 28, Dr. A.Gary Shilling will present at the Dean’s Forum, 10:10 a.m. in Child Hall. What do you expect from a sermon? Can you recall a sermon that made an impact on you? For over 30 years, the Episcopal Preaching Foundation has been a major voice advocating and promoting excellence in preaching in the Episcopal Church. The Foundation’s founder and chairman, Dr. A. Gary Shilling, will discuss what IS a good sermon, how congregations can help clergy to work on their preaching skills, and how the foundation is helping preachers to address the challenges of ministering to today’s congregations that are often divided, distracted, and looking to online media sources for direction. Dr. Shilling is the president of A. Gary Shilling & Co., Inc., and is a renowned economic consultant and investment advisor who frequently appears in Forbes, the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg as a commentator.

FLOWERING THE CROSS ON EASTER The Flower Guild is bringing back an old church tradition of inviting everyone (especially children) to bring their favorite fresh flower to church to place on the cross in the Atrium on Easter morning. Flowering the Cross - adding live flowers to a barren cross - symbolizes our rejoicing in the new life of Resurrection. The flowers can be picked from your garden, selected at the grocery store or bought at a florist. Choose any flower with a strong stem and position it wherever you like on the cross.
BRING YOUR FLOWERS ON EASTER!
Hosanna in the highest! We started our walk through Holy Week with Palm Sunday and the procession of palms from the Atrium to the Nave.
