Join Sarah Armstrong, author of The Mom’s Guide to a Good Divorce, Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m. in the Gould Room. Sarah will be offering tips and practical guidance on this sensitive family matter, and her book will be available for purchase. The event is complimentary. Every day we have so many blessings that come our way. Let us rejoice and give thanks this spring by participating in our Cathedral’s United Thank Offering. UTO has been a tradition since 1889 and supports the missions and ministries of the Episcopal Church. Every cent collected fulfills diocesan grant requests. In the last 130 years, UTO has awarded 5,257 grants. UTO is entrusted to receive the offerings, and to distribute 100% of what is collected to support innovative mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion.

Some recent grants have benefitted projects in the Diocese of Atlanta. For instance, in 2012 Church of the Holy Comforter received $26,000 to strategize the day program that addresses the mental health needs of adults. That community continues to grow, and the Cathedral continues to support Holy Comforter.

Here are some ways you and your family can participate: • Pick up a Blue Box in the Atrium and place it in a prominent place in your home.

• Every night, think of one thing for which you are truly grateful for that day and then insert some coins or dollars in the Blue Box to express your gratitude.

The United Thank Offering invites you to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for your blessings, and make an offering for each blessing.

Through UTO, your Blessings become blessings for others.

SPIRITUALITY LABYRINTH WALK AND TAIZÉ Get your Holy Week off to a peaceful start with a Labyrinth Walk and Taizé this Monday, April 15. A Labyrinth introduction will take place in Child Hall at 6:30 p.m., followed by a facilitated walk from 7-8 p.m. The Taizé prayer service starts at 8 p.m in Mikell Chapel. Originating in Taizé, France, this simple service of scripture, music and candlelight will bring a beautiful and prayerful close to your Monday. The Labyrinth and Taizé take place every third Monday at the Cathedral. Come to one, or both – and bring a friend!

FLOWERING THE CROSS ON EASTER The Flower Guild is bringing back an old church tradition of inviting everyone (especially children) to bring their favorite fresh flower to church to place on the cross in the Atrium on Easter morning. Flowering the Cross - adding live flowers to a barren cross - symbolizes our rejoicing in the new life of Resurrection. The flowers can be picked from your garden, selected at the grocery store or bought at a florist. Choose any flower with a strong stem and position it wherever you like on the cross.

Cathedral BOOK STORE A CONVERSATION WITH BARBARA BROWN TAYLOR On Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in Child Hall, join the Rev. Barbara Brown Taylor and Plemon El Amin, Imam Emeritus of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, for an engaging conversation about Brown Taylor’s new book, Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Enjoy a weekend full of spirituality and fellowship with other Cathedral parishioners and clergy. Kanuga is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and experience God with the beloved community.

The weekend includes old favorites such as s'mores, hiking, rocking on the porch, ice cream, bluegrass and, of course, the famous Kanuga toast. We will offer an adult program on Saturday morning and we enjoy worshiping together in the informal chapel on Sunday.

Last weekend, women of the Cathedral took a Lenten retreat to St. Mary’s Sewanee. The retreat was led by Canon Cathy Zappa and Jeannie Mahood, coordinator for spirituality.

Our next Habitat home is being built on Saturdays through June 8 (skipping Easter and Memorial Day weekends). We welcome past builders and new builders. If you have never built, come be part of this exciting ministry. No skills required, just your enthusiasm. We will give you the tools and training that you need to make a contribution. RESPITE CARE Atlanta RESPITE CARE ATLANTA SEEKS VOLUNTEERS The Cathedral is part of an exciting, new initiative to provide weekday adult respite care in our community staffed primarily by volunteers. With other interfaith

congregations, we have formed Respite Care Atlanta to offer a safe place for those with early to mid-stage cognitive impairment to interact with others, as well as give caregivers time for self-care. Will you volunteer to help us provide this vital service?

Volunteer information sessions are scheduled for April 15, May 15, and June 10 from 10-11 a.m. To register, please email Lola Battle at batlola@att.net, no later than two days before the scheduled event.

MUSIC A MEDITATION ON THE PASSION OF CHRIST On Palm Sunday, April 14, at 4 p.m., the Cathedral Schola will present A Meditation on the Passion of Christ, with Carols. One of the most profound choral services of the year, this meditation employs lessons and carols, spirituals, anthems, motets, and congregational hymns to

illuminate the Passion of Christ, which is retold using biblical narratives from Mark, Matthew, and John, sung to some of the most ancient plainchant known to the Church.
