This afternoon we offer prayers in remembrance of members and friends of the Cathedral who have died in the last year and entered into the blessed rest of everlasting peace. Our worship will be shaped by the image-rich texts of the ancient Christian rite of burial – the Requiem mass – sung by the Cathedral Choir and accompanied by baroque-era stringed instruments, trumpets, trombones, timpani, and continuo organ. We are employing a musical setting of the Requiem that is truly extraordinary for its pervasive sense of hopefulness, grandeur, and vision of an after-life of endless peace and joy in the nearer presence of God. Whether you attend to mourn, to accompany those who are mourning, or simply to contemplate the mystery of heaven, we hope you will be comforted, inspired, and strengthened.

Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.
