Maxwell, Jr., Officiant & Preacher The Cathedral Schola Solemn Evensong (sung Evening Prayer) is one of the jewels of the Anglican tradition. Most of the service is sung, often by the choir alone; and a sermon is always offered. At the formal close of Evensong itself, a traditional “liturgy of the table” is offered for those seeking afternoon communion (Eucharist). Occasionally, a classically sung Eucharist, or a diocesan confirmation, or a special sung service of prayer, takes the place of Evensong.
