We were able to invite parents to two of these events; Nursery and Year 3 leavers. The Year 3 leavers’ event was opened by Mr Walker who spoke warmly to the parents and staff. The Year 3 choir, the Pre-probationer Choristers and the whole of Year 3 sang different sections that were stunning.

Year 3 children received their leaver’s scroll and The Sports Day Trophy, Swimming Gala Trophy and the House It has been an incredibly busy week at St point Trophy were awarded to the Peter’s 2-8. We have had five celebration House captains. Please see below for the events, marking the end of the children’s text of my speech. The Nursery event time in a particular year group. The children were performances of songs were all live absolutely fantastic, with so much streamed, after which the children confidence, singing, dancing and enjoying shared their learning with parents by performing to parents. The children in Reception enjoyed a fabulous Summer ball, dressed in their finest party clothes. They walked the red carpet, danced the morning away, laughed together at a magician and then headed outside to the tipis by the Sports Hall for party games. Later they went to

Thank you to the Friends for putting together this event for the children and for your patience while we made sure we could run it safely.

Today is an opportunity for all to celebrate the St Peter’s 2-8 Year 3 children at their Leavers’ ceremony. A chance for us all to review, reflect and celebrate all the Year 3 children’s achievements throughout the year. I hope you enjoy what we have planned. Year 3 Choir who are now going to sing Dreamer and I can See Clearly Now We have now prepared a film of photos from this year with one or two from 2017.

Now I would like to introduce the Pre-Probationer Choristers who are singing – Earth, Sea and Sky. What a sensational year we have had in Year 3 at St Peter’s 2-8, full of exciting adventures for children and staff. It at times has been an incredibly difficult year, however, I must say the teachers and teaching assistants have provided the most astonishing learning opportunities for the children, both online and face to face. Most of the credit must go to the extraordinary people around the outside of this room who make St Peter’s 2-8 such an inspirational place. Every single member of staff works incredibly hard to create such inspirational learning spaces and environments for your children and prepare exciting and innovative lessons that inspire your children to learn. The effort they make for your children is staggering. Staff, your work never goes unnoticed and on behalf of the children and everyone else in the room, a huge thank you and congratulations on achieving a school that is quite remarkable. Your sensational work was recognised nationally when we won the TES (Times Educational Supplement) Pre-prep School of the Year award and the Independent School of the Year award.

Thank you to Mrs Hayden for all her work. Due to the Covid-19 regulations, she has orchestrated five musical concerts at the end of term. Huge thanks.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole school Leadership team, led by Mr Walker, for their continued collegiality, friendship, and support. I also would like to take this opportunity to thank the governors, lead by Mr Bill Woolley, for their time, guidance, and support too. At the end of term Sue Palmer and Ann Lees will be leaving the board – even

in their absence I would like to thank you for all you have done for St Peter’s (2-18), and you will always be most welcome at St Peter’s. A huge thank you to Antonia Clarke for her generous support and her counsel. I really do appreciate all you do, as do all colleagues, parents, and children across the school.

Huge thanks. It is not just the teaching staff who work hard, thank you to Mrs Fattorini and Mrs Hallgate They are such a fantastic support to me, colleagues and to all parents at St Peter’s 2-8. Thank you to both of you for all your amazing work throughout the year.

Thanks also must go to the catering team, cleaning team and the estates and grounds team who work incredibly hard to support the children at school.

Thanks to our IT team. Barry and James are at the back, live streaming to people at home and to Sara Burns for her support too. Thank you to our St Peter’s 2-8 Friends, who throughout lockdown have continued to raise money for our school charity, provided the wonderful T-shirts for sports day, a leavers’ hoodie and who will be organising a year group disco on sense of fun and collegiality across the school whilst Wednesday evening. Thank you. Thanks to you, the we were remote learning. The children designed new parents for all incredible support. Your support to the healthy pizzas for Morrisons Supermarkets and continued to have a sense of fun and adventure no matter what was going on in the world. You raised over £3000 for Shelter by organising a sleep out for charity, welcomed a group of children into the year group from The Minster School and other primary schools across York. Thank you for making our job as teachers one of the best jobs in the world.

The Year 3 children leave St Peter’s 2-8 today, most of them transitioning to St Peter’s 8-13. I know they are going to continue their inspirational learning journey at 8-13 and will continue to impress Mr Falconer, Mrs Fynn, Mrs Spencer, and Mrs Savage by getting involved in as many opportunities as they can and continuing to enjoy and love their learning. Most importantly just continue to be you, always remember to uphold the school values, and use your armoury of learning superpowers to tackle all the challenges and opportunities that will present themselves at St Peter’s.

Be the best you can be and continue to be kind. You have been a special year group and all the staff at St Peter’s 2-8 will miss you greatly - good luck. Notice Board MUSICAL NOTES Wow, what a fabulous end to term we have had! I could not be prouder of all the children who performed magnificently in their end of year presentations. We had lots of fun in Reception recording their two songs- I can’t believe how many words they were able to remember, especially in our St Peter’s Samba! Year 1 were absolutely amazing playing their own Pentatonic Compositions on the chime bars, such concentration patiently waiting for

This was such a special occasion, we have all missed having parents in school so it was lovely to finally be able to invite you in for this final event. You would not have known this was the first time the children have performed in front of

their turn to play. The singing was great, rounded off with a farewell to Year 1. Year 2 performed magnificently on the djembe. It’s so difficult to sing and drum at the same time but Year 2 rose to the challenge! The Year 2 choir were fabulous, and considering how few rehearsal they have had this year they sounded fantastic. The whole year group rounded off their concert with a selection of songs

Notice Board READING VOLUNTEER REQUEST The Year One team are looking for parents who would be willing to come and read with our children next academic year. There are three classes so ideally we would be looking for 3 or more volunteers who could commit an hour or more a week (although this could be rotated if we receive a lot of interest). Unfortunately we cannot accept parents who will have children in Year 1 from September 2021. We look forward to hearing from you!

York Open Studios returns this year from 1011 and 17-18 July, with an exciting programme of exhibitions featuring four artists from St Peter's School.

Chris Hall, Hazel Battersby and Penny Phillips from the St Peter's School Art Department and Jane Wright, a peripatetic music teacher at St Peter's, will be joining 142 other artists across York for this year's event.

This week and the end of last week, the children have been working extremely hard on their kwik cricket skills. Year Three have focused on the correct bowling technique, windmilling their arm around ensuring they brush past their ear to direct the ball straight to the batter. Everybody has put their batting and fielding skills to the test and displayed wonderful teamwork skills in order to get the ball back to the bowler, as quickly as possible.

What a year it has been… from

teaching in school to teaching on zoom! I am incredibly proud of all the children this year and it has been wonderful to watch them progress in a range of sports on offer to them. I cannot wait to start teaching back in September to all the children at St Peter’s 2-8. But I must say a big farewell to my lovely Year 3 children!

They have shown great deal of potential in their sporting talent and I hope the sheer determination, resilience, fair play, teamwork and competitiveness

carries on through their sporting journey as they progress. I must also give a massive thank you to my sport graduate Miss Beaumont, who has worked with me for the last two years! She has been a pleasure to work alongside and I know the children will miss you dearly. But we wish you all the best of luck with your PGCE next year over in Leeds.

What a fantastic end to a spectacular year. We wish all the acorns lots of luck as they move into Conkers. It’s certainly not goodbye so see you soon!

What a year it has been… watch out Reception!

RECEPTION What a way to end a truly magical year in Reception… Welcome to our Summer Ball!

And what a blast the children had! The children kick started the day like true celebrities as they walked down the red carpet to Vogue and into the ball where a disco of their favourite songs filled the dancefloor with such happy dancers! After the disco, a special Magician Josh arrived!

Josh captivated the children with many magical tricks and filled the room with giggles and smiles from the children!

A picnic lunch arrived outside some beautiful

bell tents in the sunshine! After lunch, the children played lawn games and had great fun in the photo booth! What fun it was! And finally, to end the day – the children went back to another disco to keep dancing their socks off!

What an incredible way to end an amazing adventure into Reception. What a super year we have had (even in very different times!)

We are all so proud of each and every one of you and wish you the most wonderful summer holiday and the best adventure into Year 1. We will miss you! Keep on shining – each and everyone of you! We won’t forget you!

What an amazing year we have had in Year 1! From Forest School to the Roscars then to saving the world, we have done it all! We have had the BEST time!

When we reflect upon this academic year, there is a quote which comes to mind; 'life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning how to dance in the rain'. It is safe to say that our Year 2 pupils have had a challenging year, full of change and uncertainty at times, but they have continued to push forward. Their positive attitudes, resilience and commitment have blown us away this year and it is these qualities which triumph over any others. We are so proud of each and every one of them and we have been amazed by how such little minds can rise when faced with these challenges. We hope you have made everlasting memories, whether it be making new friendships, watching the ducklings grow or our visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, we hope that you look back on your time in Year 2 as fondly as we will.

We have loved spending the final few days of term with you doing what we do best... having fun! What a busy week it has been with

our Year 2 celebration day on Monday, school disco, making salt dough creations, a musical extravaganza and art activities. But one of our highlights has been reflecting upon your growth from the last year; it was heart-warming to hear you talking about your achievements over the last 10 months and sharing the progress you have made by looking back at your first pieces of writing from Year 2! You have so much to be proud of!

Finally, thank you for all of your generous donations for our charity 'Vanilla for Change'. We will count it all up and let you know our grand total soon!

Keep being you Year 2, no matter what hurdles you come across, you can always stride forwards and most importantly, do everything with kindness in mind. We will miss you all greatly, please don't forget about us when you are big Year 3 boys and girls at the top of the school! Have a wonderful summer, love from the Year 2 Team x

It is hard to believe that we are writing our final newsletter piece of the academic year! It has been an incredible learning journey with each and every child in Year Three and we have had a wonderful year of laughter, excitement and enthusiastic learning. The children have demonstrated great resilience towards the challenges they have faced and importantly, done so with smiles on their faces.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as we gathered to celebrate our time at St Peter’s

2-8 on Tuesday.

It was a special occasion indeed and marked the end of an era for some our children who have been with us since Nursery! As teachers, we couldn’t be prouder of all their achievements this year and would like to wish all the children luck and love on their new adventures. We hope you have a brilliant summer and look forward to catching up with some familiar faces in the not so distant future!
