O God, we thank you for the treasure of children and youth in our midst: Watch over them as they learn and play; keep them safe from harm; imbue them with wisdom; defend them from all evil; help us to meet their needs, and hold all of us in the palm of your hand; through Jesus Christ, your beloved Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Listening for God’s Word The First Reading - Colossians 3:12-17 As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Psalm 148

1 Hallelujah! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights. 2 Praise him, all you angels of his; praise him, all his host. 3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. 4 Praise him, heaven of heavens, and you waters above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the Name of the Lord; for he commanded, and they were created. 6 He made them stand fast for ever and ever; he gave them a law which shall not pass away. 7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea-monsters and all deeps; 8 Fire and hail, snow and fog, tempestuous wind, doing his will; 9 Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars;

10 Wild beasts and all cattle, creeping things and wingèd birds; 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the world; 12 Young men and maidens, old and young together. 13 Let them praise the Name of the Lord, for his Name only is exalted, his splendor is over earth and heaven. 14 He has raised up strength for his people and praise for all his loyal servants, the children of Israel, a people who are near him. The Gospel - Matthew 5:13-16 The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew. Response: Glory to you, Lord Christ. “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. The Gospel of the Lord. Response: Praise to you, Lord Christ. The Nicene Creed

BCP 358

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. 5

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of the People Intercessor: Let us pray for the children and youth in the Church and in our world and those who care for them. Intercessor: We pray for those who lead us. Remind those who serve in our government of their duty to the children they serve. Give our bishops, priests, and deacons the courage to set the kind of examples your son, Jesus, set for all of us to follow. Lord, in your mercy. People: Hear our prayer Intercessor: Give understanding and love to all parents, teachers, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, coaches, school bus drivers, camp counselors, scout leaders, babysitters, and child care workers. Lord, in your mercy. People: Hear our prayer Intercessor: Give us respect for the environment, so that our young people will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and healthy land to tend. Lord, in your mercy. People: Hear our prayer Intercessor: Have compassion on all who suffer from any illness, sorrow, or trouble. We remember those on our parish prayer list, Emily, Pat, Karen, Lynn, Mark, Debbie, Frances, Katie, Bob, Art, Mary, Barbara, Linda, Rhonda, Ruth, those who have Covid, and all we now name aloud or silently. …... People: Hear our prayer The Celebrant concludes with this prayer. On this Mother's Day, we give thanks to you O God for the divine gift of motherhood in all its diverse forms. We pray for all the mothers among us today; for our own mothers, those living and those who have passed away; for the mothers that loved us and for those who fell short of loving fully; for all who hope to be mothers someday and for those whose hope to have children has been frustrated; for all mothers who have lost children; for all women and men who have mothered others in any way - those who have been our substitute mothers and we who have done so for those in need; and for the earth that bore us and provides us with our sustenance. We pray this all in the name of God, our great and loving Mother. Amen. - From Women’s Uncommon Prayers The Peace Please remain in your pews for this exchange. Greet one another with a wave and words of peace. Celebrant: The peace of the Lord be always with you. People: And also with you. Celebrating Holy Communion Recognition of Graduates The Celebrant will name all our graduates and then conclude with the following prayer. Let us pray. All wise, all loving God, we thank you for all your gifts to us; for making us, for loving us in Christ, for calling us to be your people. Look with love on our graduates and bless them as they complete their school years. Sustain them, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give them an inquiring and discerning heart, the 7

The Great Thanksgiving Prayer B BCP 367 Celebrant: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them to the Lord. Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Celebrant: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The Celebrant continues We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life. On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me." After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me." Therefore, according to his command, O Father,

Celebrant and People We remember his death, We proclaim his resurrection, We await his coming in glory; The Celebrant continues And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine. We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with Peter and Philip and all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation. And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say, The Lord’s Prayer

BCP 364

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
