18. Mr Keesu Kim, Self Employed Business Consultant | Lock and Quay Collective
I run a small digital marketing and technology business that helps companies grow by attracting more customers online and building simple systems to manage enquiries and follow -ups. My career path hasn’t been a single straight line, but I like to think it has been somewhat intentional. I originally studied engineering, and became a software engineer, which helped me develop strong problem -solving and analytical skills. While I enjoyed the technical side, I also realised I was interested in more creative and businessfocused work, and I wanted to understand how ideas turn into real outcomes. Alongside my studies and early career, I taught myself marketing, advertising, and digital tools through online learning and hands -on experimentation. I started by freela ncing, working with small businesses and learning how to communicate clearly, manage projects, and deliver results. Over time, this grew into a small agency where I now work with a range of
companies to design marketing strategies, build websites, run online advertising, and automate business processes. Running a business has been challenging at times, but also very rewarding. It has shown me that careers today don’t have to follow one fixed route. Skills from subjects like maths, technology, business, and creative thinking can all come together in unexpected ways, whether in a corporate role, a small business, or something in between.
