We’re excited to welcome your child to a fun-filled summer at St. Paul’s! We hope you’ll join us for Traditional Day Camp, Camp Classes, or a mix of both! SUMMER IN THE CITY: TRADITIONAL DAY CAMP Traditional Day Camp is a flexible camp full of activities and weekly themes for incoming toddlers through incoming fifth graders. Camp is offered from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily with an option to come earlier and stay later at no additional cost. You may choose to attend a full day or a half day (9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or Noon – 4 p.m.), and you may select the days that work best for you (from one day per week to five days per week).

CANCELLATION POLICY Full refunds are given when a written request is received three weeks or more before the start of the class. A 75% refund is given upon written request two weeks prior to the class start date. Minimum enrollment numbers must be met for each class to be offered. If a class must be cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified two weeks prior to the class start date. If a class is canceled, you may select another class or request a full refund.

LUNCH Lunch is served daily at noon and is included in your camp or class fee.

EARLY ROOM AND EXTENDED DAY CARE Early care beginning at 7:15 a.m. and extended day care until 6:00 p.m. are provided at no additional fee.

FIELD TRIPS Many of our camps and classes will take field trips throughout the summer! All field trip fees are included in the camp or class fee.

SAFETY All staff are CPR/First Aid trained. In addition, they attend Safeguarding God’s Children and St. Paul’s Summer in the City training to provide a safe and quality camp experience for all students. A full-time security guard will be on duty throughout the summer. Additionally, all external doors are locked at all times. If we are walking to a field trip location, security will accompany the group.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES Our flexible care meets all families’ needs. Our traditional day camp program is the most flexible. In addition, we accept drop-ins for last-minute child care needs. Contact Karen McDonald at kmcdonald@speds.org or 816.268.6536 to arrange drop-in care.

DON’T FORGET Each child must bring a labeled water bottle every day to camp. We encourage students to wear clothes and shoes that allow for active play (flip-flops are discouraged).

TRADITIONAL DAY CAMP TODDLERS THROUGH 5TH GRADE Traditional Day Camp is a flexible camp full of activities and weekly themes for incoming toddlers through incoming fifth graders. Week 1 - The Best of Main Street (June 1-5) Join us as we kick off the summer celebrating the best of Main Street! Kansas City has champion sports teams, famous barbeque, beautiful fountains, and stellar art. Campers will experience Main Street first hand while focusing on all our city has to offer.

Week 2 - Pet Mania (June 8-12) What camper doesn’t love pets? We will focus on the proper care of pets, a pet’s daily needs, and the best pets for kids. We will spend a morning making pet treats and toys for a local animal shelter.

Week 3 - The Great Outdoors (June 15-19) Campers will experience both indoor and outdoor camping activities all week. We will learn camping tricks, cook in a Dutch oven, write letters home, and sing camping songs!

Week 4 - Star Spangled Week! (June 22-26) Campers will participate in all things red, white, and blue. We will learn about the history of our country with star-spangled games and projects. The week ends in a birthday celebration fit for the land of the free!

Week 5 - Lab Rats (July 6-10) We will perform various experiments and learn engineering skills. Brains will fill with curiosity as campers inquire, test, and track different experiments throughout the week..

Week 6 - Imagination Creation (July 13-17) Grab your magnifying glass and be prepared to solve a new mystery every day! We will pack our Spy ID cards, notepads, and binoculars to embark on daily adventures. 4

Week 7 - Barnyard Palooza (July 20-24) Join us for a pig snortin’ good week as we engage in exciting barnyard-themed activities. From practicing milking a cow to making homemade butter, campers will finish camp feeling ready to work on Old MacDonald’s farm.

Week 8 - Slippery Slope (July 27-31) Grab your swimming suit and towel and join us every day for some “cool down fun.” We will spend the week playing in the sun, cooling off in the sprinkler, and making summer treats! Who doesn’t enjoy some time playing in the water?.

Week 9 - Abracadabra (August 3-7)* Grab your wands, hats, capes, and broomsticks! This week we will share a little “Hocus Pocus” and inner magic! Whether you are a fan of Harry Potter or Magic School Bus, join us this week for magical adventures.

Week 10 - County Fair on Main Street (August 10-14)* Come one, come all to the SPEDS County Fair on Main Street! The week will be full of special activities including carnival games, cupcake walk, and Blue Ribbon Contest. What a great way to end the summer! *Please note that lunch will not be served this week; students will need to bring their own lunch. Space is limited this week.

Creating Sock and Puppet Marionettes

Spanish Immersion with Senorita Aycart

We will be creating marionettes with easily found matreials. You can create characters for your own favorite story or fairy tale! Let your imagination run wild and have fun with thread spools, socks, paper, and paint! Grade: 2nd - 6th Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: $195

If you are considering traveling with your St. Paul’s peers to Spain in 8th grade, this class is a must! You will spend the week focusing on immersion experiences, speaking the language, and learning all about the country. Whether you are going into 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grades, this class will be a benefit for you! It is a great way to spend a week of the summer with your friends and Senorita Aycart learning all about the Spanish language and culture! Grade: 5th - 8th Time: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Cost: $195

City Travelers Buckle up! This camp will be taking field trips around the city all week. We will visit various city attraction each day, including some hidden KC treasures! Cutting Loose in Improv Camp Jump up! Jump in! A week of improvisation games, team building exercises, and a performance for parents and students at the end of camp. City Market Chefs Join this class as we travel to the popular City Market, learn how to pick out the best produce, identify creative ways to cook healthy and enjoy the art of cooking! Whether you are a novice or expert, we can all learn a new cooking technique or two! Why not learn from the best?! On Friday, students will share what they learned in a cooking show at SPEDS! Leapfrog in the Sprinkler This class is a great way to have some super refreshing fun in the sun! Splash around in a pool, squirt your friends, see how low you can go in water limbo; we have it all! Magic Tree House

Creating Your Own Instruments

Welcome to a week of adventure in the Magic Tree House! We will travel in time, play games, and learn about the cultures of fantastic places. You will be given the opportunity to collaborate with friends to write your own chapters in the Jack and Annie saga. We will also learn more about Merlin, Morgan, Arthur, and the other characters from the stories. Grade: PreK - 2nd Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: $195

We will be making rain sticks and maracas, instruments that both come from South America. The process will include nailing into paper tubes, paper mache, and painting. If time allows we will create other rhythm instruments such as tambourines. Grade: 3rd - 6th Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: $195

Dancing to the Groove Ready, Set, Go! For all those who love to “vroom” their engines for monster trucks, cars, or choo-choo for trains, or just love anything that goes, this workshop is for you. Come enjoy a week of revving your engines and making things go. You will get to build your own vehicle, make a magnet, and bake some delicious treats that we’ll get to decorate and eat! Top off the week by bringing in your favorite vehicle from home to share at the camp. There is something for everyone in this camp, so come share your love of things that go. Put on your dancing shoes and get in the groove! This will be a fun, energetic class for all of those who love a variety of dancing. On friday, we will perform for our parents, so don’t miss out! Grade: K – 3rd Time: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Cost: $195

Inch by Inch in the Garden Tower gardening is the new way to learn about eating healthy! We will plant our own tower garden, learn basic gardening techniques, and make snacks from it! A field trip to the Kansas City Gardens will be on our agenda. This is a great camp to attend and take home some of our very own harvest! Gardening - a lifelong skill everyone should have! Watermania Water, what?! WATERMANIA! For everyone who loves to play with water to cool off on a sunny day, this is the camp for you. Come splash, swim, and enjoy some water games. Stomp Camp Inspired by the Broadway show, Stomp, we will make music and create movement using everyday items from around the school. American Girl

Snapshots of Third Grade

For a fun filled week of games, crafts, cooking, and adventures, grab your American Girl, Magic Attic, or other 18-inch doll and bring her to camp! We will read about some of our favorite girls; Kirsten, Julie, Kit, Kaya, Samantha, Addy, and more! With our dolls we discover fun while sharing history and activities. Each day will feature a theme third grade studies throughout our year. Starting with Oregon Trail on Monday, Rainforest on Tuesday and Wednesday, working with the Vex IQ Science Building Kits on Thursday, and a technology montage on Friday. Students will create a short iMovie to share with parents at the end of the week detailing what we did each day and everything they have to look forward to in the upcoming year. Harry Potter Students, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Kansas City campus. Art from the Heart Who doesn’t love art? Art is found in many facets from all ages. It is created using different materials that are used in various ways. Our camp will allow children to express their love via art straight from their heart. They will make art projects to share with family and also gifts to share with others who could have their day brightened, such as nursing home residents. Grab your swimsuits, towels, water bottles, and sunscreen! It’s a week in the sun with your friends. We will visit a different spray park/ pool each afternoon! Pete the Cat Have you seen Pete the Cat walking down the street wearing his brand-new white shoes?! Mini Cheer Camp We’ve got spirit, yes we do! How about you? This class, taught by Ms. Chelsie, will introduce “cheerleading” techniques to the young at heart! You will be introduced to the basics of cheers, chants, jumps, and dancing. There will be a performance for parents on the last day of the session! This is a popular cheer camp each year! Carter’s Movie Making Camp In this course, the students will work together to make a short movie. We’ll go through all the steps in the process – coming up with our story ideas, putting together a script, making costumes and props, rehearsing, and shooting the scenes. By the end of the week, we’ll have a rough cut of our movie to watch together. We’ll enter the movie in the next Kansas City children’s film festival, and if it is picked for an award, you’ll get the chance to go see it play on the big screen at a real movie theater next spring. WEEK 6 (JULY 13 - 17) Tiptoe into Toddlers Join Mrs. Hickey for a sneak-peek of the Toddler life at St. Paul’s. This week will give you a chance to experience some of the typical school routines. The morning sessions will involve play (indoor and outdoor), exploration, laughs, and plenty of hugs. This class offers an opportunity for a smoother transition on the first few days of school! Pop into Preschool Don’t miss out on a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children entering preschool next fall! Mystery Spots in KC KC has lots of hidden gems. Although you think you may have seen everything there is to see in KC, you are mistaken! This camp will talk about lots of various places that are unknown to the public eye. The group will explore locations across the city and learn a lot more about our great city! WEEK 7 (JULY 20 - 24) Tiptoe into Toddlers Join Miss Marston for a sneak-peak of the Toddler life at St. Paul’s. This week will give you a chance to experience some of the typical school routines. The morning sessions will involve play (indoor and outdoor), exploration, laughs, and plenty of hugs. This class offers an opportunity for a smoother transition on the first few days of school! Fairy Princess Let the fairies steal you away to this camp where we will take a look at their secret world. We will explore the magical lives of the fairies. We will listen to stories about them, make art projects, and of course dress up as fairies! Tea parties will be a must in our camp! American Girl Camp

Rock Band Rock Band is for kids ready to rock! This class is always a favorite. It will introduce you to the basics of making your own music. We will provide a basic band setup including microphone, different types of guitars, a keyboard, and a drum machine you can experiment with! This class includes crafts, games, and activities designed to break the mold of typical music classes, so you can learn how easy and fun it is to play music! Community Connection

A Piece of Cake!

Community Connection is a class that continues the sacrificial heart of the St. Paul’s school year into the summer. Each day, campers will participate in community service projects including volunteering in a local food pantry, walking/caring for pets in an animal shelter, and building a lending library, just to name a few. Be sure to participate in this leadership opportunity that is a positive reflection of St. Paul’s community! You will be able to apply your earned service hours to the St. Paul’s required hours! Grade: 4th - 8th Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Cost: $195

You really can have your cake and eat it too! Spend a week baking your favorite tasty treats like cookies, ice cream, and yes- you guessed it- cake! Join your friends in a baking adventure all week while you add new recipes to your baking file! We will even deliver a batch of the goodies to our local fire station to share! Super Heroes Calling all super heroes! A super villain of the very worst kind has invaded St. Paul’s! We need a trusted team of super heroes to help defeat the bad guy and save the school! Pool Party Caravan Hop in the school van and catch a ride to one of the 5 water parks this week! We will spend each day trying out a new water park across the city. WEEK 8 (JULY 27 - 31) Pokemon Training Camp Pokemon trainers are called to improve their skill as Pokemon masters! Attendees will work on art projects, Pokebelt, and Pokeballs. You will go adventuring each day to catch a wild Pokemon, test your might in the Pokemon stadium, trade Pokemon with friends, and complete challenges to earn rare Pokemon items! Art from the Heart

Learn the world of Dungeons and Dragons! An old favorite for many! Explore the world of pen and paper role-playing games. Campers will feel like heroes while performing, solving problems, and writing creatively. We will take a field trip to the Nelson Atkins Museum and visit the Medieval section for some inspiration. Who doesn’t love art? Art is found in many facets from all ages. It is created using different materials that are used in various ways. Our camp will allow children to express their love via art straight from their heart. They will make art projects to share with family and also gifts to share with others who could have their day brightened, such as nursing home residents. This class is sure to teach children that they can make others happy with a little ‘art from the heart’. Bring your creative side to this class and let’s share from our heart!
