MISSION

“It’s the comaraderie that you feel everyday when you walk through those front doors on 5900 W. Belmont. It’s that feeling of brotherhood with all of the guys around you. It’s a great feeling to walk into everyday and to leave with that same energy is amazing.”

Lasallian Education.

The shared Lasallian heritage is more than just an educational movement - it is a living reality that we experience daily in our work and in our lives. Inspired by the charism of St. John Baptist de La Salle, Saint Patrick High School provides countless educational opportunities inside and outside the classroom.

Beyond the walls of St. Pat’s, Lasallian schools are in more than 80 countries throughout the world - educating more than one million students.

College & Career Preparatory.

Saint Patrick High School offers each student a pre-collegiate curriculum as well as a career and technical education pathway system instilled with faith values and Christian services. We offer Advanced Placement and Dual Credit coursework across our various departments allowing students to earn college credit while in High School. Each student receives personalized support in developing a plan for college or a pathway to a chosen career starting your freshman year and continuing until graduation.

Single Gender Education

Research shows that the single gender environment promotes the following among the male students:

• More relaxed environment

• Less likely to be self-conscious about trying new things

• Less gender stereotyping

• More room to voice thoughts

• More willing to take risks

• Teachers use techniques and concepts proven to work best for expanding the minds of boys

“I knew I wanted to come to St. Pat’s when I shadowed here. I felt at home right when I walked through the doors and have ever since.”

Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides students with opportunities to explore careers, engage in internships, network with industry leaders, and gain marketable skills while still in High School.

CAREER Pathways

Engineering, Manufacturing, Technology and Trades

The Engineering, Manufacturing, Technology and Trades pathway is designed to be a three-year program with opportunities for internships that prepare students for the rigors of entering a university engineering program while also developing the practical skills necessary for students to compete in the manufacturing and trade industries. Students learn AutoCad software and the use of CNC machinery as part of the program. In the 23.24 school year students will receive seven college credits for the successful completion of our introduction to engineering course.

Human and Public Services

The Human and Public Services pathway is oriented toward students considering a career in education or public safety. Both courses of study are designed as multi-year programs with opportunities for practical experiences. The education path involves a dual credit introduction class and additional classes meant to give students a general perspective regarding a career in teaching. Our public safety course work involves classes in Criminal Justice and Law with a capstone opportunity to apply for enrollment in the CPFTA (Chicago Police and Fire Training Academy).

Finance and Business Services

The Finance and Business Services pathway consists of multiple courses, meant to give students both a background and practical experience related to the design, production and marketing of a product. Courses include Entrepreneurship, INCubator, Accounting and Marketing. These combined with the student’s other core classes can give him a broader introductory background into business careers.

Arts and Communications

Students with an interest in media technology (i.e., video production, podcasts, live streaming, speech, performing arts, etc.) will benefit from this program of study. Students can take courses all four years in these areas that, along with their core courses, will prepare them with skills needed to enter these fields at the college level and as a career.

Chicago Police and Fire Training Academy

Saint Patrick High School is proud to announce the inclusion of the CPFTA program into our Career & Technical Education Department’s Human and Public Services Pathway where students are able to receive class credit. The CPFTA allows high school students to earn experience through summer internships with Chicago’s Police Department, Fire Department, and Office of Emergency Management and Communications. CPFTA students receive hiring preference for CPD and CFD and are given the opportunity to earn their EMT licenses.

SAINT PATRICK TEACHERS ARE Student-Centered. Energetic.

Involved. Compassionate.

“It has been incredibly rewarding for me to work with our guys both in the classroom and on the basketball court. These are smart, respectful, tough kids who truly look out for each other inside and outside of school. To be able to be a small part in their St. Pat’s experience is a tremendous privilege.

Saint Patrick faculty and staff are dedicated to helping transform boys into young men. You will see them at social events, such as games and dances. You will find them moderating clubs. You will find them after hours helping students gain ground in subjects where they need additional assistance. You will find them leading retreats and attending service trips. They genuinely enjoy sharing in our student experiences.

Student Services

MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS (MTSS)

Saint Patrick High School aims to focus on the WHOLE STUDENT. MTSS is a framework many schools use to provide targeted support to students with additional learning needs. The goal of MTSS is to intervene early so that students can catch up with their peers and ultimately succeed. Our student services program is designed to help our students grow academically, personally, spiritually and emotionally.

WHAT IS EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SYSTEM (ESS) AT SAINT PATRICK?

ESS provides a means for educators and parents to collaborate and problem-solve individual students’ needs. It consists of a team of individuals who meet to discuss students’ needs, review assessment results, and develop plans to assist students in improving academically, emotionally, or behaviorally. Students’ needs may include assistance related to reading, written language, mathematics, or other subject areas. Some students’ needs are related to their emotional well-being or behavior. The overall goal of ESS is to support students in need by intervening early, communicating often, and collaborating as a team to ensure your child’s success.

Saint Patrick High School is fortunate enough to have our own dedicated Therapy Dog, Patrick who visits a minimum of one day per week. Studies have proven that students bond readily with therapy dogs, feeling more connected and confident, which helps reduce anxiety and negative behavior in adolescents. Interaction with therapy dogs has also been found to cause a social catalyst effect, and this further helps improve the stimulation of social behavior. The relationship between a therapy dog and students helps develop trust in teenagers, and is more likely to help our students develop a broader capacity for empathy.

FAITH

Lasallian Education centers on Catholic values and personal relationships, emphasizing academic excellence, faith formation, inclusion, respect for the individual, service and social justice. A Lasallian Education strives to enrich each student’s cultural, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development. At Saint Patrick High School, we follow the morals of St. John Baptist De La Salle and learn to touch the hearts of others and care for the least, the last, and the lost.

Campus Ministry is the faith outreach of our school. Getting involved allows the student to deepen his faith, affords him opportunities to serve the larger community, and deepen his belief in God, the Church, and society.

The Campus Ministry Staff, in association with teachers and other staff members, works hard to accompany our students on their spiritual journey. School liturgies, class prayers, Reconciliation Services, and retreats are some examples of the ways we have to constantly remind ourselves that we are always in the holy presence of God. They are also a means to touch our students’ hungry hearts as they continue to grow in wisdom, age, and grace before God and humankind.

Number of annual service hours performed by Shamrock students

FAITH IN ACTION

Many Saint Patrick students choose to serve our communities in a number of ways whether it be through the Lasallian Youth group or local service organizations, etc. Students are required to log 10 hours of service in the first semester and another 10 in the second semester.

Faith. Tradition. Brotherhood.

GET INVOLVED IN THE LITURGY

Saint Patrick High School celebrates weekly Mass on Wednesday mornings at 8am in our School Chapel, as well as monthly Mass at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church (Freshmen Family, All Saints Day, Thanksgiving, Catholic Schools Week, Ash Wednesday, Founder’s Day, Junior Ring and Graduation.) Shamrocks are invited to participate as Cantors, Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

The young men of Saint Patrick High School pride themselves on service to our community and participate in regular service projects for various partners including Feed My Starving Children, Alvernia Food Pantry, Louie G. Food Pantry, Special Olympics, Mission of Our Lady of the Angels, The Night Ministry, Chicago First Responders. Students are required to participate in one meaningful service experience each semester. These opportunities are led by upperclassmen in the school, and provide the student an opportunity to go beyond his comfort zone in order to serve the marginalized in society.

RETREAT OPPORTUNITIES

Saint Patrick students have many opportunities for spiritual growth. One such way is through the Retreat Program. Freshmen and Sophomores participate in a one-day, in-house retreat, facilitated by a retreat director, teachers, and peers. Juniors embark on a 2-day retreat overnight at LaSalle Manor in Plano, IL and seniors have the option to attend (and/or lead) a Kairos Retreat which is a four-day, three-night intensive experience where students take a look at themselves, their relationship to their neighbors, a look at God, and their response to God, especially through the person of Jesus Christ.

2:50LIFE AFTER

Clubs and Activities meet before, during and after school, which means there is plenty of time to get involved in many ways, even if you are active in sports. In addition, classes begin at 9:00 am on Wednesdays so you have the chance to meet with teachers, coaches and moderators.

inclusivity. belonging.

At Saint Patrick High School, it is easy to be involved in multiple extracurricular activities at once. We encourage our students to try it all, which ultimately helps them gain an understanding for peers they would have otherwise not interacted with and helps them develop a sense of purpose within our building.

Theatre, no experience necessary.

Each year, Saint Patrick High School’s Theatre Department produces at least two productions, including a comedy or a drama. More than half of our actors come with no prior experience in theatre. A lot of our students are talked into participating by a friend, or encouraged by a teacher and in the process, discover they love it.

“All seniors look not at St. Patrick as just a building, but rather as something real, alive, and warm. St. Patrick means more to us because we have seen the ‘new’ built out of the ‘old’. So we leave, and others arrive to take our place. So we fade away and others come into view. But always we shall call ourselves ‘Men from Saint Patrick.”
