News from Etonbury Academy

What an incredible time to be part of Etonbury Academy. We have achieved THREE NATIONAL AWARDS!

We are thrilled to announce that we were awarded SPORTS MARK GOLD. Our Interform netball and football Euros competitions are excellent examples of how the students and staff go over and above to ensure inclusivity, fun and strengthen our community together in PE from the pitches to the sidelines. We were also recognised for our Sports Leadership Programme which involves our Secondary students taking leadership roles in sports events, and again we had a number involved in our Lower School Sports Festival, encouraging and supporting young children to get involved and help develop their confidence. Our outstanding extra-curricular opportunities were recognised for having a team of staff providing over 20 sports during lunchtimes and afterschool. We are really lucky to have Primary and Secondary specialists, but also our wider staff team who have opened up more opportunities to learn something new including boxing, handball, golf and horse riding.

Our amazing Student Leaders have also been awarded UK STUDENT VOICE RUNNER UP. We have an incredible 56 students involved in Student Voice at Etonbury leading and supporting decision-making for the school. Aleesha also received a Highly Commended Award for her leadership in developing the ETA community spirit through interform competitions and student research.

Our third award, ECO-SCHOOLS GREEN FLAG WITH DISTINCTION. Following their review we are so proud to have received the most fantastic feedback. ‘This has been an excellent application to review. It's been incredibly heartening and inspiring to see how fully your pupils have engaged with the programme and the work that they've done has simply been astonishing - so creative, wide-spread and embedded in curriculum studies. You are well deserving of the Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction Award!

Here we go into the new term… We have so much to look forward to including the opening of our Sixth Form in September 2023. We welcome Mrs Chloe Dowden as Head of Sixth Form who will be planning this excellent and much needed development for our area.

We have already shown many lower school parents and children around our school, but we are looking forward to showing many more of you at our Open Evening to be held on Thursday 13th October who are considering their next steps to a Secondary School (Years 7,8 and 9) or into Year 5 in September 2023. Please keep an eye on our website for more details. If you would like to have a personal tour, please do get in touch with us on 01462 730391.
