News from Etonbury Academy

We hope you have all had a healthy and well deserved Summer break. At the time of writing we have just received the news of the passing of our remarkable Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and are spending time reflecting on her incredible life during the period of national mourning.

It’s great to have the children back in school, welcome our new Year 5s into ETA Juniors, Year 7s into the Secondary School, and a number of new students across the upper years. Over the Summer further improvements have been made on the site with addtional water fountains, office changes, upgraded classroom technology, new lighting and painting in multiple areas of the school.

The Year 5 children are settling in well to ETA Juniors, enjoying the facilities and open spaces. They are particularly enjoying their roast dinners, homemade curries and of course the fish and chip Fridays. It’s really exciting to also see so many signing up to the residential adventure trip going out this term. Our new secondary children have made an excellent start and enjoying the various subjects they now take.

We are now looking forward to electing of our new Student Leadership Team. We always have a fantastic number of students who want to contribute to the success of our school, support our strong values and who really care about Etonbury. Our Student Leaders have received the UK Student Voice Runners Up Award for two consecutive years.

In the first week of term the school kitchen staff and site team were awarded highest possible rating of 5 stars for hygiene by the Environmental Health Department, huge congratulations to all of them.

Soon we will be welcoming parents considering their child's next move into Year 5 in September 2023. We will be holding an open evening on Thursday 13 October as well as providing tours to help them make this important decision, and our experienced Primary, GCSE and A-Level teachers will be available to help them with any questions. Parents can book their place for the Open Evening via our website or telephone the school. We are also holding our 'Next Steps' evening for Year 8 into 9 on Wednesday 12 October to find out more about the fantastic opportunities that will be open to them for their GCSEs and A-levels. We continue to do tours for all prospective families looking to join our school in Secondary too. Please keep an eye out on social media and local press for more updates.
