Our Mission

Stori is here to enable people to enjoy safer, brighter futures.

We’re here for anyone in a situation that makes it hard for them to live safely at home. That could be due to domestic abuse, homelessness, mental ill health, being affected by drug or alcohol use or other challenges. We provide the space, support and skills to help people build a brighter and safer future. We do this by providing safe, warm homes for people when they need them most; by providing great person-centred support; and by supporting people to develop their skills, confidence, knowledge and independence.

Stori is a community organisation with a social purpose; we’re here to make a positive difference to the lives of our tenants, clients, learners and colleagues; but we’re also here to strengthen communities by working with our partners across Wales.

A future where everyone can live safely, grow confidently and shape their own story.

Enabling people to shape their own story means we will put people at the heart of everything we do.

We’ll listen to our tenants, clients, learners, colleagues, partners and commissioners to ensure our homes are safe and warm and that all our projects and services are fair, flexible and inspiring.

We’ll work positively with people to enable them to overcome the challenges they face and support people in continuing to develop and grow.

We’ll recognise the strengths and potential of everyone we work with; championing equality and the diversity across the communities in which we work.

We are entering our next chapter as an organisation with bold, positive and ambitious plans for the future.

Our Stori In Action

We now own or manage over 150 homes giving hundreds of people each year a place to call home.

Over 80% of the homes we own or manage are temporary supported housing; providing a safe place for people to live while they build the skills and confidence they need to move on to their long-term home.

In 2024/25, we supported 1,174 people through our support services across Wales; enabling people to remain living in their home or access a new home at a time when they needed support the most.

In 2024/25 our Education Services delivered over 3,000 sessions to children aged 4-18 across Wales, engaging with over 40,500 children.

In 2024/25 our Employability Services worked with over 759 people; supporting them to retain their current employment, learn new skills, build confidence or access new employment.

In 2024/25 our Training Services team trained 2,519 professionals from all walks of life helping them to learn new skills and develop their knowledge in areas including VAWDSV, Safeguarding and Mental Health.

Our Next Chapter

We’re determined to build on our success to date, putting people at the heart of everything we do. We'll continue to provide and develop new homes and services that meet the needs of local communities.

We’ll continue to be there for people when they need us most, supporting people to overcome the challenges they face as a result of domestic abuse, homelessness, mental ill health, drug or alcohol use and other complex challenges.

Lots of things that shape our work will always be beyond our direct control, but our strength, resilience and commitment to being fair, flexible and inspiring mean we are ready to respond to whatever challenges come our way over the next five years.

We'll be a great place to work, and champion equality and diversity in everything we do.

We are committed to supporting people to thrive through services shaped by respect, compassion and a trauma-informed approach guided by our values of being fair, flexible and inspiring.

We'll continue to develop and deliver training and education services that focus on preventing abuse and discrimination, and that shape a supportive, equal and diverse society.

Our Strategic Plan

We’ve taken a truly co-productive approach to developing our new 5-year strategic plan. This strategy has been informed by extensive engagement with tenants, clients, learners, colleagues, partners, commissioners and Stori Board members across Wales, asking people:

We’ve engaged with people through local community days, workshops, events, training courses and ‘Shape Our Future’ sessions across all parts of Wales.

We’ve held Board and management strategic planning days, as well as receiving feedback from commissioners, funders and partners through planning and review meetings. The response we have received has been truly amazing!

We've collated and analysed all the feedback and ideas we've received, themed those and used that information to directly inform the 3 strategic aims and 18 objectives set out in our strategy.

We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who contributed to the development of this strategy; we’ve learnt a huge amount and that will directly inform how Stori continues to grow, develop and stay true to its core values over the next 5 years.

Being a socially and environmentally responsible organisation with strong governance and robust financial management.

Developing new supported housing, support, training and education services which enable people to build their confidence, skills and independence..

Develop and implement an engagement & co-production framework across all services. Ensure tenants, clients and learners shape the design, development and improvement of our housing, support, training and education services.

Learning & Progression

Continually invest in developing colleague’s knowledge and skills by developing clear learning, development and career pathways.

Ongoing Feedback

Strengthen the ways in which tenants, clients, learners and colleagues can provide feedback to help Stori continually improve and develop.

Strengthen staff support, wellbeing, development, supervision and appraisal processes to ensure all colleagues are supported to thrive.

Ensure all homes are safe, warm and meet Welsh Government Housing Quality Standards (WHQS).

Ensure all colleagues are trained to provide trauma-informed, personcentred support, and that all services reflect these principles.

Responsive Repairs

Ensure repairs are completed on time and to the tenant’s satisfaction.

Flexible Digital and Inclusive Access

Enhance our digital offer to provide services that are flexible, and enable people to choose how, when and where they engage.

Provide services that reflect ‘best practice’, champion innovation and meet all contractual and regulatory standards.

We’ll keep developing new supported housing, support, training and education services that help people build their confidence, skills and independence — so they can write brighter new chapters for themselves and their communities.

What we’re aiming for:

Enviromental Sustainability

Reduce carbon emissions across all housing and operational activities by 2030.

Financial Strength & Resilience

Maintain healthy operating margins, a strong asset base and reserves to support long term financial sustainability.

Governance & Risk Management

Conduct annual Board reviews, maintain accurate and appropriate risk management, and ensure full legal, regulatory and contractual compliance.

Growth in Housing & Services

Deliver our growth and development plans by creating new housing, support, and learning services co-designed with tenants, clients, and partners.

Diversified Income & Services Digital Innovation

Continue to invest in digital technology to enhance choice, quality, efficiency and good governance.

Identify and maximise funding opportunities to support core and non-core business, enhancing sustainability and service innovation.

Our Future

This plan provides a strong foundation for what we aspire to achieve over the next five years.

We know that there will be risks and challenges, but our resilience and values will keep us moving forward with purpose and ambition.

We will develop detailed strategies to show how we will deliver our aims and we will work alongside our tenants, clients, learners and partners to report on our progress openly and meaningfully — staying true to our purpose and committed to making a lasting difference.
