This event is a time of celebration of how far our community has come and a time to reflect on how far we have yet to go before all of us can truly THRIVE. Over the past year, Stonewall Columbus (SWC) has continued to explore new ways to better serve our entire LGBTQIA+ friends, family, neighbors and community.

While our community has come a long way from the days of hiding our true self, we as an organization understand that there is still a lot of work ahead. The Board of Trustees is currently conducting a national search for the next Executive Director, and we hope to have this critical position filled in the next several months. Later this year we will reopen our expanded Columbus LGBTQIA+ Center that will provide over 15,000 square feet. This additional space will allow SWC to provide more programming and allow members of the Central Ohio community access to the Center throughout the year. When visiting the Stonewall Columbus tent, let us know what youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d like to see done, the issues that you face and the ways that SWC can better serve you.

Every year this festival and parade is put on by a crew of hundreds of dedicated volunteers and staff. For that we thank you. MANIFESTO Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re here to uplift our LGBTQ community so that ALL of us THRIVE. Stonewall Columbus was founded in 1981. Our goal then was to fight for tolerance, acceptance, and basic human rights for our LGBTQ community. Today, we proudly celebrate Columbus as one of the most LGBTQ friendly cities in the United States. But, we have seen how quickly threats can reemerge in our community. LGBTQ lives are still threatened at home and abroad. There is more work to be done. We will always remember our history as we build our future brick by brick. We will never stop. We will be visible, reminding the world that we are strong, vital members of our community. We will be inclusive, because we know what it means to be left out. We will be connected, linking needs to resources and people to one another. We will stick up for everyone in our community, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity; race, color or national origin; military status; familial status; or disability. And we need your help. Volunteer your time, become a member, get involved. Support Stonewall Columbus and allow Stonewall Columbus to support you. We will no longer accept tolerance. TORSO CLOTHING COMPANY CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF PRIDE! One locally owned and operated small business in the Short North has stood the test of time, TORSO Clothing Co, better known as just ‘TORSO’, has been providing the latest in fashion for its patrons and guests in Columbus, OH, for 20 years. The clothing / styles provided by TORSO would often only be seen in places like New York, Boston, Fire Island, P-Town, Chicago, and L.A. – West Hollywood. This summer will mark the 20th anniversary of continuous operation for TORSO, from the same building since its inception in late-May 1998. Having a great location at 772 N. High Street, TORSO sits in the heart of the Short North alongside art galleries, bars, restaurants, and other small, independentlyowned boutiques. Scott Rousku, the owner of TORSO, is no stranger to the area and has spent 30 years working in the Short North. Before opening the store, Scott previously worked at Functional Furnishings for 10 years. Scott’s passion while attending the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, was to pursue a degree in art and fashion. During the 1980’s mall-explosion, Scott was responsible to set-up, open, design, and merchandise over 130 stores for the Décor Corp. This background and visual merchandising experience ensures that each trip into TORSO will always be exciting, new and fresh. Scott’s passion for visual merchandising is also shown by the continually changing store windows. His window designs have won several local awards and one international award. TORSO is unique in the merchandise that it carries. The store is best known for its wall of men’s underwear from around the world; with over 150 styles and designs. TORSO also carries designer brands like Spazio Uomo, Mission Clothing, William Rast, Projek Raw, SuperDry, Timoteo, Andrew Christian, JUNK, Buffalo, and DIESEL. According to Andrew Christian, TORSO is their longest-running (and favorite) vendor! Not only does TORSO provide clothing for men, TORSO also offers a selection of women’s clothing, fashionable jewelry, and other accessories. With DIESEL’s 2017 footprint restructuring, DIESEL will now only be found in 40 retail locations in North America; TORSO is one of the exclusive retail locations. In 2014, TORSO launched its own brand of tee shirts, ranging from tongue-n-cheek graphics / slogans to trending political satire to basic fashion. TORSO also works with local nonprofits and other organizations to help promote an inclusive and bright community throughout Columbus. TORSO works with organizations such as Stonewall Columbus, Equitas Health, Breast Cancer walk, AIDS Walk, Speedo Dash, Young Professionals Against Diabetes, Camp Sunrise, Mid-Ohio Food Drive, BRAVO, HighBall, and NAGAAA. Working with these organizations is part of TORSO’s willingness to give back to the community that has supported us for 20 years. BUILDING STRONGER, MORE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES. ARTISTIC PASSION | SOCIAL PURPOSE. Harmony Project connects people across cultural and social divides through experiential arts, education, and volunteer community service. We choose harmony over dissonance, inclusion over divisiveness, and social good over social discord.

MANY PEOPLE | ONE COMMUNITY. Working together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive community with a focus on developing a social infrastructure that unites the community for the common good. By providing access to volunteer opportunities and resources, Harmony Project creates a space where social change is possible and members are empowered to shape a more inclusive world. What began in 2009 with less than 100 voices has grown to more than 1,000 voices engaged each week in programming and volunteer service. Since Harmony’s inception, tens of thousands of hours of volunteer service have been leveraged, sparking a ripple effect of social good throughout Central Ohio and beyond. Unsatisfied with today’s tempo of change, we’re creating the communities in which we want to live.

OUR COMMUNITY HONOREES Service is at the heart of Harmony Project’s mission. All choir members and program participants must complete a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer service each season.

Harmony Project leverages 16,000 hours of volunteer service each year! Recent service projects include serving meals at emergency shelters, mural installations, neighborhood beautification, playground builds, and more!

This year Stonewall Columbus is excited to honor and celebrate the Harmony Project. In 2009 David Brown founded the Harmony Project. He invited people who loved to sing – regardless if they thought they were good enough. A group of folks came together to create what David Brown says is, “the sound of the community if we all started singing together”. Nine years ago, one hundred people joined and thus the Harmony Project was born. Harmony Project connects people from across cultural and social divides through experiential arts, education, and volunteer work. There is no financial obligation to volunteers. Every Harmony Project arts and education program is offered complimentary. Their concerts, community investors, foundations, public partners, and corporate contributors provide support for their mission, allowing every person who wishes to participate to do so, regardless of their resources. Harmony Project has grown to be a major force for change and for good across a broad spectrum of communities, demonstrating the power of individuals working together to have an impact on the lives of so many.

The reach of Harmony Project and the leadership of David Brown is extensive. From gated communities or behind prison walls, in low-income schools or top-ranked institutions, Harmony Project convenes people from every dimension of diversity. When considering who to honor this year, it was apparent to us that this group, this leadership, and this mission is at the forefront of our community making real change. It was a simple choice: honor those who are making a positive difference in the lives of ALL in our Central Ohio community. Their vision says it all, “Many people. One Community.” Stonewall Columbus is honored to have Harmony Project march with us in the parade and look forward to the amazing work that they will continue to do. We ask that you celebrate with us their many accomplishments and impact they have made on the community already at the 37th Stonewall Columbus Festival and Parade. Q: Why do you come back year after year? A: Pride is THE most organized festival that we have ever been a part of. We are always honored just to be invited back. We know we can count on the same treatment year after year and we felt like part of the family when we pull in for set up. The people that organize it, as well as those that attend, are just amazing.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Pride team? A: I decided to join Pride this year because I wanted to embrace a different fabric of people within a positive movement.

Q: What is your favorite Columbus Pride memory? A: Our first year we didn’t plan properly for the enormous crowd with enough start change. The bank wasn’t open for long since it was a Saturday so every time we had a few $20’s I would run as fast as I could to the bank on the corner. I would always get distracted watching the parade so that when I finally returned with the smaller bills, the workers were PANICKED!! It was just impossible not to stop and enjoy the parade!! Now, after 7 years we always have enough start change but I still sneak away and watch the parade!

A message to hour Spotlight Vendor: One of my first memories working with vendors was working with The Giant Lemonade Cup folks. The owners, Tod and Theresa Dronsfield, show up every year so incredibly happy to see everyone. Q: What was your first Pride experience like? A: I’m from Greenwich Village in New York City, the heart of Stonewall history. My first pride was amazing. I was 17 years old, still figuring out my true identity. It felt like millions of people in the city the weekend. Food, drinks, music and opportunity. Q: What hopes do you have for Pride in the future? A: My hope for future Prides is having separate events for our LGBTQ community members and then we all collectively come together and rock out!!!

A message to Tripp; It’s not everyday that someone walks into a room full of strangers and immediately wants to dig in. That’s exactly what Tripp did. From the moment I met Tripp I knew that he was here to stay. Tripp has approached planning Pride with a level of excitement that is so incredibly refreshing. His energy and enthusiasm for the event, for the people in the event and for the future of the event is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Pride Committee Festival Layout Chair First Columbus Pride: 2008 Years Volunteering: 6 Q: What brings you back as a PRIDE volunteer? A: This is my 6th year at Pride. I was a general volunteer for 2 years. 4 years ago, I decided to join the PIT Crew and what an experience that has been! I keep coming back because of the GREAT people I work with. The Layout team is AMAZING in so many ways. We are all so dedicated to our work with Pride and have a TON of fun doing it. Plus, it's so immensely rewarding to see hundreds of thousands of people enjoying all our hard work. It's my way of giving back to our community and saying thanks to all those who have struggled before us to get us to the point in society where we are today. THANK YOU!

Q: What does PRIDE mean to you? A: Pride is an important way for the LGBTQ community to celebrate all the freedoms they’ve earned, those who have fought for those freedoms before us, a way celebrate with friends and can make new ones. It also serves as a reminder of where the LGBTQ community has come from and how far we still need to go. It is important for us to remember our history, for those that don’t are doomed to repeat it. More than that, it is a way for us to come together as a community and celebrate all that we have in common as well as all our differences that make our community so AMAZING!

A message to Jon; ‘This is someone’s first Pride’ – this is the mindset in which I go into every Pride. Everyone remembers their first Pride. The people, the floats, the flags, the feeling that this is the one place where it’s okay to be who I am. This was a mindset instilled in me by the folks before me and it is something that our Pride Committee knows very well. Jon puts his sole into Pride, he makes the festival what it is, he is the glue that holds everything together and because of him someone is coming to their first festival and feeling as though they belong. There aren’t many aspects of our lives where we can say that we are irreplaceable, but in Pride, Jon you are so irreplaceable. VOLUNTEER TENT

This tent serves as a haven not only for volunteers just before their shifts, but after their shifts and during breaks as well. Registered volunteers can sit in the shade and enjoy complimentary food and water. This check-in point is conveniently located, near the corner of Washington Boulevard and Main Street. ABOUT STONEWALL HISTORY Stonewall Columbus was created out of the need for a full-time gay advocacy organization in Central Ohio. For 37 years, Stonewall Columbus has grown in order to meet the needs of both the LGBTQ and the greater Columbus community on our issues of advocacy, education, and community building.

The Center on High is located in the heart of the Short North Arts District and is the first community center in Central Ohio.
