STRATEGY 2025 - 2028

INTRODUCTION
The Wellspring Strategy 2025
- 2028
This document outlines the Strategy of The Wellspring (Stockport) Ltd for the period 2025 - 2028.
The Wellspring is a UK registered charity and a vital lifeline for those facing homelessness in Stockport and the wider Borough. The Wellspring is more than a support service; it has a dedicated team offering practical resources, compassionate support and tailored guidance. The charity is focused not only on the immediate, and often complex, challenges faced by service users, but on building futures beyond homelessness.
Governance is overseen by a Board of Directors; the Manager of Operations and the team are professionally qualified and highly experienced; there is invaluable on-site expert medical support from a Doctor and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and dedicated volunteers give their time freely to support the work of The Wellspring.
The Wellspring value the collaboration with agencies who support and work with us ensuring a multi-agency approach which benefits all service users.
This strategy demonstrates the vision, mission and operating values for 2025 - 2028. The Wellspring has defined strategic priorities which enable the charity to make bold decisions in response to the increasing local and national housing crisis.

THE WELLSPRING SERVICE USER
There is no ‘typical’ service user within The Wellspring. Anyone, from any background can find themselves without a home or be at risk of losing their home. Some service users are in full-time employment, yet return “home” to a tent, derelict building or doorway.
Additionally, the people who come to The Wellspring for support reflect a wide and differing range of individual circumstances and needs: physical and mental health, specific substance misuse and addiction, abuse, social exclusion, domestic abuse, emotional coercion, unemployment and debt... often in combination.

OUR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
Since 2022, the strategic priorities of The Wellspring have helped to respond to the anticipated increase in demand for services. The four strategic priorities for 2025-2028 focus on different, but equally demanding circumstances. Once more, The Wellspring commit to ensuring the service will meet the increasing demand for support, so we will:

Effectively communicate our commitment to a “personcentred” approach.
The Wellspring stands as a proud ambassador for dignity and respect for all, championing inclusivity, fairness and the belief that every individual deserves to be valued and heard. Staff, volunteers and supporters are all encouraged to engage with compassionate communication. Service users and those experiencing homelessness are people that are defined by many things, not just their current circumstances.
The Wellspring will communicate the “person-centred” approach with supporters, stakeholders and the wider Stockport community. The Wellspring will challenge the judgement and stigma that service users experience on a daily basis, promoting their self-esteem, confidence and steps to positive future action.

The Wellspring Strategy 2025 - 2028
Protect our financial stability via engagement with businesses, communities and individuals.
Over the last three years, The Wellspring has achieved impressive levels of engagement with funding organisations, donors, and supporters, the impact is acknowledged and highly valued.
However, during increasingly difficult economic times The Wellspring will be working even harder to secure new sources of financial and material income to support the long-term viability of the charity.
Further improve and maximise the benefits of digital systems and intelligent
use of data
In recent years, The Wellspring has invested in modern IT systems which have already shown clear benefits. It is essential to have the right technology, digital infrastructure and data management systems which has been key to The Wellspring’s work and in demonstrating the impact for service users and within the sector. Demonstrate our commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Wellspring is fully supportive of contributing to a greener Stockport, and the need to protect our natural environment and the wider planet. Service users, volunteers, staff, and funders, align with these aspirations.

The Wellspring is fortunate to operate from a modern, energy-saving building with well-established protocols to recycle, minimise food waste and save energy where possible. The Wellspring ensure opportunities for outdoor activity for service users including football and walking groups supporting positive mental and physical wellbeing.

The Wellspring will continue to take positive steps to address environmental challenges and opportunities. If you would like further information about the work and impact of The Wellspring or feel inspired to support our work, please get in touch.
