The Ageing in Place Pathfinder Project and Stockport Homes are excited to be bringing the award winning and views forward. We are excited to work with local people to bring the Brinnington Circle to life, connecting older people, putting on some fantastic events and activities and having fun along the way! Welcome to our Newsletter

Welcome to Autumn! and it’s certainly come with a clout. September brought us our very first Canal Trust trip from Marple to Macclesfield a trip of nostalgia and reminiscence of how important our canals were to industry. History continues through O t b ith l d i it t St k t H t Mueseum and Art G

Would you like to go to the Theatre, have a trip down the Canal, visit other areas of Greater Manchester? Circle is whatever you make it - so get involved. As Part of Circle , Brinnington Members ( paid up annual members) can also access events from the whole Circle offer, including Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale, Oldham, East Manchester and Prestwich Circles.

Regular Events

REGULAR SEGMENTS

Our Circle Segments are regular Circle events, that take place at the same time, and the same place each week (or month). They are great events for meeting other Members with similar interests to you. For Full details of each of our segments please see below.

Events in Green are mainly social events such as coffee and catch ups, bingo etc

Events in Blue are classed as Health and Fitness as they have some element of exercise.

Events in Red are classed as Skills and Learning as they include elements of these.

Breakfast Club 9:30 - 11:30 The Lighthouse

The members of B.L.O.G.S provide those in the community struggling to be able to get all 3 meals a day due to various reasons a hearty breakfast and delightful conversation to start their week off on the right foot. MON

Age UK - Walk in the Vale 10:30 - 12 noon

Hollow End Towers Brinnington SK5 8NY

Every week some members of the community gather at Hollow End Towers to meet with Danny from AgeUK to do a sizeable walk along Reddish Vale, visiting several sights like the Butterfly Garden, the estuary flowing under the viaduct and the woodland.

Litter Picking 09:00 - 10:00

Brinnington Park FREE

First thing on a Tuesday morning Paul from B.L.O.G.S with some help from local volunteers does a litter pick spanning the ground of the park complex, helping to keep the complex clean and tidy for all who wish to use it.

Coffee & Bingo 11:00 - 12:30

LifeLeisure Pay on The Day

After a break post litter picking Paul does his best bingo caller impression and calls the numbers at the community bingo session in the LifeLeisure community space. Fun is had by all, and some attendees have been immortalised as special calls!

Webb Lane Allotment 1pm - 4pm

Webb Lane, Offerton

Are you passionate about gardening, community building and sustainable living? Our community allotment needs your help! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us on our allotment to create a thriving green space where we can grow fresh produce, learn together, and have the opportunity to harvest and plant a variety of fruits and vegetables – that can be shared with the community. Sharing knowledge and skills and a place where friendships bloom alongside our plants. Our allotment is located at Webb Lane, Offerton and we meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 1-4pm. You can volunteer as much or as little time as you can spare –every bit helps!

Confidence Walk 10:30 - 11:30

LifeLeisure

Every Wednesday LifeLeisure set up a space to allow older members of the community who want to work on their mobility to walk a circuit with seating in the middle so you can rest whenever you need to.

AIPP Pop Up 1pm - 3:30pm

In order to continue building relationships in the community the AIPP team have established a weekly pop up at The Lighthouse Centre during their foodbank so if any attendees have any questions about our project or housing in general, we can provide support and advice.

Coffee Morning & Jumble Sale 9:30am - 11am St Luke’s Church Hall

jumble sale every Thursday morning, allowing residents to stop by for warmth, a hot drink and some light purchasing at prices accessible to the community.

AgeUK have also established a coffee morning that takes place in the LifeLeisure community space, this is well attended and enjoyed by all who come along.

This is a weekly session dedicated to helping residents make healthier lifestyle choices, focusing on their diet. The residents are weighed weekly and are given healthy recipes to follow in order to help manage their weight. They are also provided a healthy lunch after the Armchair Exercises session.

Brinnington Art Group 11am -2pm

The Community Centre

A wellbeing group for people who suffer from anxiety, depression or social isolation. Our aim is to get people out and about and make new friends through the medium of making crafts or any kind of art. We do many varied crafts from: painting, quilling, book folding and jewellery making, We teach each other to expand our talents. It's free to join. It's on a drop in basis so no pressure to come every week. Feel free to come any time and give us a try.

Social Stretch 9:30am - 11:30am St Lukes

Every Friday the AIPP team provide a session of social and accessible yoga, this is another opportunity for residents who struggle with their mobility or balance to access a fitness session that specifically works on supporting their bodies to keep them strong and mobile.

Join us for a unique day out in a stunning location – RHS Bridgewater has it all. The combination of beautiful grounds in tranquil surroundings is enjoyed in twilight. If this sounds like something that you would like to see please give the team a call to book your place as we have limited spaces. A deposit will be required of £5 non-returnable. North West s premier Family Pantomime: Sleeping Beauty

starring TV favourite Wendi Peters as Carabosse the Wicked Fairy with Scott Gallagher and a full supporting cast. Book now for the affordable family treat that will create memories for you for years to come! Pick up 1:30pm outside First House. The show starts 2:30pm.
