The Reindeer named Dunder by Stockland

This book is dedicated to Aussie children everywhere

Ask someone to list Santa’s reindeer, and there’s always one name you’ll likely not hear.

They’d say ‘Rudolph, and Prancer, and Dancer’, for sure. And Comet and Dasher they wouldn’t ignore. Even Blitzen and Vixen are given a go. But there’s one reindeer that’s a Christmas no-show. It must hurt her spirit, it must steal her thunder, when no one remembers that reindeer named Dunder.

Before Rudolph and his nose took the spotlight, Dunder and Santa were awfully tight.

Because Dunder is short for Down Under.

And it’s there she averted a right Christmas blunder.

One Christmas Eve, Santa was on his Pacific routine. Doing Bundaberg to Baldivis and all in between.

When an Ibis appeared with a terrible fright, and all Saint Nick’s presents flew off in the night.

Christmas was cooked, it was bleak, it was black.

When Dunder said, “Nah, yeah I’ll get this on track”.

Then the two of them raced to the nearest centre, kind enough to let reindeer enter.

They found book after book and toy after toy,

and working together, they found plenty of joy.

From store to store and shop to shop. They filled Santa’s sack from bottom to top.

Christmas was saved! It was back! Have no fear. Thanks to the wonderful Aussie reindeer.

So when asked which reindeer you like best, give Rudolph a miss, he’s loved by the rest. And go with the one who kept our Christmas a wonder, that Down Under reindeer, the Aussie named Dunder.

Don’t forget Dunder this Christmas Eve. A lamington, not carrots, is what you should leave.
