PARKING LOT GANG MINISTRY Mats update and upcoming Homeless Events

Hello all, I hope this email finds you well. Please give a shout out and let us know how you are doing. The world may be crazy, but our Mats Ministry continues to try and be a light for those in need. Mats: We still need plarn to be made. We have BUNCHES of bags. If you need bags or have strips or plarn ready for the next step, please let me know. We are looking to get the assembly line going again. It sounds like we will have at least 7 mats for our next need, we'd love more!! Now for some really exciting news about our ministry. A few of us in this ministry have formed "The Parking Lot Gang". This will serve as the distribution arm of our ministry. We are taking our finished mats along with clothes and snack food items and setting up tables to help distribute these items. We recently set up at a Showered and Empowered event in St Pete. We were able to help them feed 100+ people and we distributed food and clothing to over 40. Everything we had collected was given away that day. We want to do this again in January. We have decided to try and do more pop-up parking lot pantry events. Our first step is to collect from the congregation and neighborhood. We are going to hold a Collection drive. The dates are Nov 7th and Nov 15th in the Allendale side parking lot or Chapel drive through. More info coming on the collection drive. Stay Tuned. Thanksgiving: The Mat Ministry Parking Lot Gang will host a small holiday luncheon for the homeless community at Booker Creek. (Expecting 15-25 people). We'd love company if this interests you! We are also looking for someone to make potatoes or stuffing, or donate a case of water. If you are interested, please let Barb or me know. I hope you are doing well and these events will give you a chance to plug in. Also, if you need anything, let Barb or me know. Peace, -Shelli

Monday, Nov. 30th, 6:45PM on ZOOM

For: FAST Committees' Annual Kickoff If you are interested in the work of Saint Teresa/Allendale's Social Justice Ministry, known as "FAST" (Faith and Action for Strength Together), you are invited to the annual committee kickoff meeting on Nov. 30th. Becoming a member of a committee affords you with an opportunity to play a part in one of three committees that are established for this year's work: -Affordable Housing -Behavorial Health (Mental Health+ Addictions) -Criminal Justice Researching and formulating an action plan "takes a village" within each committee and takes place between December and March. The action plan is then presented at the Annual Rally and Nehemiah Action in early Spring. Ordinarily this meeting would take place as a large gathering, where there's opportunity to meet people of all faiths within Pinellas County who share your passion and concerns regarding a particular issue. Unfortunately this year, due to COVID, committee meetings will take place on ZOOM, but that will not stop the wheels of social justice from moving forward. If you are interested in participating in one of the FAST committees, or for more information about FAST, please reach out to Fran Zimmer (nannie1727@yahoo.com, or 727-458-9431) or Deacon Barb (bef0928@aol.com, 727-457-6143). Registration for the Annual Committee Kickoff will begin before Thanksgiving.

MATS FOR THE HOMELESS VIDEO ON THE LEARNING ZONE

November 24th

Please keep donating your plastic bags! We constantly see commercials on Serta Mattress with a price range of $800 to over $2,000. Donating Plastic Bags and helping in the to Workshop for the Homeless is the least we can do. Since we can’t give all the Homeless a Serta Mattress, is it too much to give them an American Made product of a Plastic Mat.

another day added to the homeless mat ministry 3 Sunday of each month after mass from 12:30 - 2:30 pm rd
