Wisdom From Our Pastor
“Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose, I have come.” The disciples were already beginning to enjoy the popularity of Jesus among the people. But he tells them it’s time to move on, that his mission isn’t to maximize his popularity, but to preach the gospel to all of Israel – this is what his Father sent him to do, and no opportunity for mere personal glory will distract him from it. He had to remind his followers time and again that he is not a politician wanting to gain more popularity and success. Rather, he has come to serve and to bring the good news to all people. His example is an important lesson for us, especially if we are leaders in the Church. Our focus is to serve others, not to gain popularity and honors. We must not lose sight of our basic calling, namely, to fulfill God’s plan, not our plan. As Blessed Mother Teresa said, “We are called not to be successful, but to be faithful.” Father Victor Ray

The Daily Prayer of Saint Teresa Dear Jesus, help me to spread your fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with your spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of You. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Your presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus. Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others. Amen.

Reflections of the Week: How would you respond to Job’s lament in today’s first reading? In my daily dealings with my fellowmen would I be picked out as a Christian? Do I, by my words and deeds, prove to those with whom I live and work that I am convinced there is a future life after death, that reaching that life is the most important thing in this world for me, and that it is through living my short earthly life as a true Christian that I can earn that eternal life?
