Welcome
TO ST. MARK’S
A Place Where You’ll Be Known
and inspired At St. Mark’s School, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Here, faculty know your name and your goals. Friends become family. Learning happens not just in classrooms, but in conversations in the Dining Hall, in studios, on playing fields, and in dorm rooms. Our motto, Age Quod Agis (“Do What You Do”), guides us to approach every moment with purpose and care. As a student at St. Mark’s, you’ll join a community that is intentionally small, deliberately global, and fully committed to helping you discover who you are and who you are meant to become.
An Education

Shaping the journey
student voices The student-teacher relationships at St. Mark’s are very strong and meaningful. Teachers are involved in so many parts of campus life: academics,
athletics, dorm life, and clubs, so you see them everywhere. Because class sizes are small, it is easy to really get to know your teachers and feel comfortable asking for help. During my sophomore year, Mr. Dolesh was in charge of my Saturday class at the NECC Center for Autism.
“ W hat I enjoy most are the small, everyday moments that make campus feel like home. Hanging out in the Dining Hall, getting to know the girls in my dorm, walking to Starbucks with friends— these are some of my favorite parts of the day.”
Even though I never had him as a classroom teacher, he took the time to support me. To this day, I still email him when I need assistance with math, and he is always willing to help. That kind of support shows how much teachers at St. Mark’s truly care about their students.
– Lila, a St. Marker from Colorado
At St. Mark’s, being challenged is part of the experience. My Ethics and Morality class opened my mind to new ways of thinking and showed me that thoughtful disagreement is essential for real progress. In every conversation, I was encouraged to listen, question, and think more deeply. I learned that understanding someone else’s perspective doesn’t mean you have to agree with it. It means being willing to listen carefully,
“ One piece of advice that stayed with me at St. Mark’s came from my wrestling coach. He reminded me that wrestling is hard, just like life, and that how you respond to challenges defines who you are. Coach Welch taught me the importance of pushing through adversity and responding in a positive way.”
consider another point of view, and reflect on your own. That has changed the way I approach conversations both inside and outside the classroom. Those conversations gave me confidence in my own voice and helped me develop the judgment to navigate difficult decisions with empathy and integrity.
– Seedi, a St. Marker from Massachusetts

Compassion, Integrity, and Service
rooted in reflection and respect Our Episcopal identity and vibrant spiritual life invite all faiths and perspectives to gather in shared reflection. In Belmont Chapel, our community comes together twice a week for music, stories, and prayer, creating time to pause, celebrate, and renew. We also believe belonging is an act of leadership. The Student Life Office fosters an environment where every student is seen and valued. Shaping the journey
faculty voices
At a boarding school, we don’t just teach. We coach, advise, and live in community with students. We see them in classrooms, on fields, in dorms, and around dinner tables. That proximity creates trust, accelerates growth, and allows us to support the whole student. It’s deeply fulfilling work because you witness the results firsthand. Confidence is built, skills are strengthened, and choices are clarified up close and in real time.
“ In the summer of 2007, I took a leap to St. Mark’s, an independent secondary boarding school, and it remains one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
Sharing daily life together means the lessons extend far beyond the syllabus. We are not just preparing students for college. We are helping them become thoughtful, capable young adults, one conversation and one experience at a time.
– Neil Cifuentes, Director of Global Citizenship Spanish, History & Social Sciences Faculty
From the beginning of my career as an educator, I have envisioned creating a learning environment that fosters cooperation and community. Creating a meaningful and equitable classroom that centers empathy is of the utmost importance to me as I continue to develop my teaching practice. At St. Mark’s, my role as a teacher extends beyond the classroom; I enjoy building relationships with students in
“ As a teacher, I approach both engagement and participation in ways that allow different kinds of students to feel successful and comfortable in their learning. I hope to be a resource for my students as they navigate St. Mark’s and develop confidence in themselves inside and outside the classroom.”
the dorms, on the squash and tennis courts, and throughout daily life. Supporting students’ growth in all these areas has been a rewarding experience I wasn’t expecting.

A Path Shaped
with purpose
From the moment students arrive at St. Mark’s, college counseling begins with relationships. Our three full-time college counselors provide personalized guidance in close partnership with families and faculty, helping students understand themselves, identify what matters most, and discover
colleges where they will thrive. More than an admissions process, college counseling is an extension of a St. Mark’s education. It cultivates sound judgment, independence, and the confidence to make thoughtful decisions that prepare students for lives of purpose, courage, and integrity.
