Advising

Each St. Mark’s faculty member serves as an advisor to a small number of students.

Advisors meet with their students formally once a week, and informally as needed, to monitor their progress, give audience to their concerns, and guide them through the challenges and expectations that go along with being a St. Marker. Students are assigned a particular advisor for their first year, and though they may choose another at the end of their first year, most remain with that advisor for their St. Mark’s career.

Health, Counseling, and Wellness

St. Mark’s helps create a community where all members have the essential tools to be their best selves, so that they can be physically, emotionally, and socially prepared to make healthy lifestyle choices. To support this effort, professional nurses staff Health Services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

• Every new student meets with a school counselor to aid in their transition and counselors are available for support

• One-on-one counseling is available throughout the year

• Two full-time wellness faculty members work to create and promote educational initiatives on a variety of health related topics

Student Life

St. Mark’s students benefit from a robust academic and social life, and we recognize that lifelong connections are formed both inside and outside the classroom. We offer clubs, program activities, and events that provide opportunities to connect with your community.

Several student clubs:

• Model UN

Chapel

At St. Mark’s, our Episcopal Chapel program embraces inclusion, compassion, and the inherent value of every person. We support spiritual curiosity and respect for diverse traditions through twiceweekly services, a monthly evening chapel, and additional worship and service opportunities. Chapel gatherings involve all 400 members of our community in senior talks, hymns, prayers, and moments of silence.

The program features:

• Student talks, choir, an interfaith chapel council, and times for reflection

• C andle-lighting and mindfulness

• Chapel wardens and vestry

• Fostering of leadership, service, and spiritual curiosity

Community & Equity

The Office of Community & Equity is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and equitable community where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered. Aligned with St. Mark’s core values of respect, empathy, and curiosity, we strive to create a supportive environment where differences are celebrated, and individuals can thrive. By promoting cultural competence, addressing systemic inequities, and empowering community members, we work to ensure that every member of the St. Mark’s community has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Pathways

St. Mark’s Pathways groups are essential in supporting every member of our community.

When students have spaces to embrace and explore their identities safely, and with the encouragement of those who understand the challenges they face, they are better prepared to succeed academically and socially.

St. Mark’s currently has 11 Pathways groups that meet regularly.

Pathways prefects are the student voice for community and equity. They are friendly faces to talk to about issues and questions of community and equity at St. Mark’s. They host the weekly C&E Minute during school meetings and assist the C&E director on group-related logistics.
