Senior School Foundation Diploma

Our newly-minted Foundation Diploma is now well underway, and the 2022 Year 11 cohort are already seeing the benefits of this tailored programme of teaching, learning and assessment. Students have been enjoying the depth of learning offered to them in a range of academic subjects, supplemented by our specialised Step-Up and Physical Activity programmes.

To complete the Diploma, students will spend time this year engaged in activities to further their leadership skills, their co-curricular life, their character, service and spiritual development. And underpinning this all, of course, is a core focus on robust academic content and rigorous assessment. have been carefully planned and thoroughly moderated, and they will be followed by our own Diploma exams in Term 4. We believe this layering of teaching and assessment will provide the best foundation for success in either of our dual academic pathways for Year 12 – NCEA Level 2 or International Baccalaureate.

If you have not already done so, I encourage parents to start conversations at home about which of these pathways your daughter may wish to follow next year. I will be addressing the year group at several points this year to discuss the options with them and help them make an informed choice, and I welcome communication from parents wanting to discuss these options in more detail.
