ORDER OF SERVICE
OPENING PRAYER
INTROIT HYMN: 403 - Light's abode, celestial Salem
1 Light's abode, celestial Salem, vision whence true peace doth spring, brighter than the heart can fancy, mansion of the highest King; O how glorious are the praises Which of thee the prophets sing!
2 There for ever and for ever alleluia is out-poured; for unending, for unbroken is the feast-day of the Lord; all is pure and all is holy that within thy walls is stored.
3 There no cloud nor passing vapour dims the brightness of the air; endless noon-day, glorious noon-day, from the Sun of suns is there; there no night brings rest from labour, for unknown are toil and care.
4 O how glorious and resplendent, fragile body, shalt thou be, when endued with so much beauty, full of health, and strong, and free, full of vigour, full of pleasure that shall last eternally.
5 Now with gladness, now with courage, bear the burden on thee laid, that hereafter these thy labours may with endless gifts be paid; and in everlasting glory thou with brightness be arrayed.
6
Laud and honour to the Father, laud and honour to the Son, laud and honour to the Spirit, ever Three and ever One, consubstantial, co-eternal, while unending ages run.

FIRST LESSON: ACTS 16:9-15 [Mrs Coreen Deane]
READER: A Reading from the Word of God, written in the Acts of the Apostles, chapter sixteen, beginning at the ninth verse.
ILLUMINATION:
READER: During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them. We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days. On the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there. A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home." And she prevailed upon us.
READER: The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
1. God be merciful unto us, and bless us : and shew us the light of his countenance, and be merciful unto us:
2. That thy way may be known upon earth : thy saving health among all nations.
3. Let the people praise thee, O God : yea, let all the people praise thee.
4. O let the nations rejoice and be glad : for thou shalt judge the folk righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.
5. Let the people praise thee, O God : let all the people praise thee.
6. Then shall the earth bring forth her increase : and God, even our own God, shall give us his blessing.
7. God shall bless us : and all the ends of the world shall fear him.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
SECOND LESSON: REVELATION 21:10,22-22:5 [Mrs Marquita Sandiford]
READER: A reading from the word of God written in the book of Revelation, chapter twenty-one, beginning at the tenth verse.
ILLUMINATION:
READER: In the spirit the angel carried me away to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. Its gates will never be shut by day and there will be no night there. People will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. But nothing unclean will enter it, nor anyone who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life. Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month;
and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Nothing accursed will be found there any more. But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him; they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And there will be no more night; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.
READER: The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
GRADUAL HYMN: 321 - Jesus shall reign where'er the sun (verses 1-2)
1 Jesus shall reign where'er the sun does his successive journeys run; his kingdom stretch from shore to shore, till moons shall wax and wane no more.
2 People and realms of every tongue dwell on his love with sweetest song, and infant voices shall proclaim their early blessings on his name.
THE GOSPEL: JOHN 14:23-29
PRESIDENT: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And also with you.
PRESIDENT: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John the fourteenth chapter beginning at the twenty-third verse.
ALL: Glory to Christ our Saviour
ILLUMINATION:
PRESIDENT: Jesus said to Judas (not Iscariot), "Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me. "I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father
will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, `I am going away, and I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe."
PRESIDENT: This is the Gospel of Christ
ALL: Praise to Christ our Lord
HYMN: 321 (verses 3&4)
3 Blessings abound where'er he reigns; the prisoner leaps to lose his chains, the weary find eternal rest, and all the sons of want are blest.
4 Let every creature rise and bring peculiar honours to our King; angels descend with songs again, and earth repeat the loud amen.
THE SERMON
PRESIDENT: Let us now stand and reaffirm our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ in the words of the Nicene Creed.
NICENE CREED [BCP page 104]
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen or unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father.
With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Usher’s Prayer
READER: Lord, you made all kinds of people, even people like me. In your love you gather them into your Church. As you gather your people this day, help me to serve them in a Christlike manner, even as your Son served those who gathered about him. Make me prayerful and patient, helpful and understanding, and may I radiate the joy that faith brings as I serve their needs. Give me your strength to support my fellow ministers. May all who assemble to celebrate our common faith in the risen Saviour be glad of heart for being here and for having encountered your Son in one another, in our priest, at the tables of the book and the Bread, and through the ministry of ushers like me. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
PRESIDENT: Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles, “Peace I give to you; my own peace I leave with you:” Regard not our sins, but the faith of your Church, and give to us the peace and unity of that heavenly City, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you live and reign, now and for ever. Amen.
ACT OF PENITENCE (BCP Page 123)
PRESIDENT: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all un-righteousness.
A period of silence shall be kept.
PRESIDENT: Let us therefore confess our sins.

THE ABSOLUTION (BCP Page 124)
PRESIDENT: Almighty God, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

OFFERTORY HYMNS: 348, 175
HYMN: 348 – The church’s one foundation
1 The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord; she is his new creation by water and the word. from heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride; with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.
2 Elect from every nation, yet one o'er all the earth; her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth;
one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with every grace endued.
3 Though with a scornful wonder men see her sore opprest, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distrest, yet saints their watch are keeping; their cry goes up, "How long?" and soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.
4 ‘Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace for evermore; till with the vision glorious, her longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest.
5 Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three in One, and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won. O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with thee.
HYMN: 175 - Jesus lives! Thy terrors now
1 Jesus lives! Thy terrors now can no more, O death, appal us; Jesus lives! By this we know Thou, O grave, canst not enthral us. Alleluia!
2
3
Jesus lives! Henceforth is death but the gate of life immortal: this shall calm our trembling breath, when we pass its gloomy portal. Alleluia!
Jesus lives! For us he died; then, alone to Jesus living, pure in heart may we abide, glory to our Saviour giving. Alleluia!
4 Jesus lives! Our hearts know well naught from us our love shall sever; life nor death nor powers of hell tear us from his keeping ever. Alleluia!
5
Jesus lives! To him the throne over all the world is given: may we go where he is gone, rest and reign with him in heaven. Alleluia!
THE PRESENTATION OF OFFERING - FORM B (BCP Page 126)
PRESIDENT AND PEOPLE
Father, we offer to you these gifts which you have given us; this bread, this wine, this money. With them we offer ourselves, our lives, and our work, to become through your Holy Spirit a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice. As this bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, so may we and all your people become channels of your love; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYERS
SURSUM CORDA
PRESIDENT: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And also with you.
PRESIDENT: Lift up your hearts.
ALL: We lift them up to the Lord.
PRESIDENT: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
ALL: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
PRESIDENT: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father Almighty, everlasting God:
But chiefly are we bound to praise you for the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; for He is the true Paschal Lamb, who was sacrificed for us, and has taken away the sin of the world. By His death He has destroyed death, and by His rising to life again He has won for us eternal life.
Therefore, we praise you; joining our voices with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:
ALL:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER D (BCP Page 140)
PRESIDENT: All glory, praise and thanksgiving be unto you, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God, you created the world and all mankind, and of your tender mercy gave your only Son Jesus Christ to take our nature upon Him, and to suffer death upon the cross, for our redemption, He made there, by His own oblation of Himself once offered, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and He instituted, and in his holy
Gospel commanded us to continue, a perpetual memory of His precious death, until His coming again.
Hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech you; and be pleased to accept, bless and sanctify these gifts and creatures of bread and wine; that they may be for us the Body and Blood of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
For, on the night He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to you, He broke it and gave it to His disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it: This is my Body which is given for you, Do this for the remembrance of me.”
And after supper He took the cup of wine: and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
PRESIDENT: In faith we acclaim You, O Christ
ALL: Dying, You destroyed our death; Rising, You restored our life; Christ Jesus, come in glory.
PRESIDENT: Now therefore, O Lord and heavenly Father, we your servants with all your holy people, having in remembrance the blessed passion, mighty resurrection, and glorious ascension of your beloved Son, do offer unto your Divine Majesty this Bread of eternal life and this Cup of everlasting salvation, rendering thanks to you for the wonderful redemption which you have made possible for us in Him.
And we beseech you O Father, to accept upon your heavenly altar, this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; and to grant that by the merits and death of your Son Jesus Christ, and through faith in His blood, we and all your whole Church may obtain remission of our sins and all other benefits of His passion.
And we pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit all who shall be partakers of this holy Communion may be filled with your grace and heavenly benediction; and be numbered in the glorious company of your Saints.
And here we offer and present unto you, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and lively sacrifice.
And although we are unworthy to offer unto you any sacrifice, yet we beseech you to accept this, our bounden duty and service, not weighing our merits but pardoning our offences;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be unto you, O Father Almighty, throughout all ages, world without end.
ALL: Amen
THE LORD’S PRAYER (BCP Page 144)
PRESIDENT: As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray:
ALL: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.
THE BREAKING OF BREAD (BCP Page 145)
PRESIDENT: This is the true bread which comes from heaven.
ALL: Whoever eats this bread will live forever.
THE AGNUS DEI (BCP Page 147)
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: grant us peace.

COMMUNION HYMNS: 587, 592, 584
HYMN: 587 - Father, who dost thy children feed
1 Father, who dost thy children feed with manna rained from above; who dost the saving chalice give, filled by thy hand in wondrous love: we praise thee for thy mercies sent to us in this great sacrament.
2 O Word-made-flesh, whom we adore, the living bread sent down from heaven, whose wondrous passion here shown forth is the great pledge of sin forgiven; we praise thee for thy mercies sent to us in this great sacrament.
3 O Holy Spirit, who dost deign these earthly elements to bless, making the bread his flesh to be, the wine his blood, as we confess; we praise thee for thy mercies sent to us in this great sacrament.
4 Ye holy angels, who, with us, around God's altar lowly bow, adoring there the Crucified, whose precious death is pleaded now, O praise him for his mercies sent to us in this great sacrament!
5 Ye blessed saints, enthroned on high, who once the paths of earth did tread, who reached in safety God's abode, as strengthened by this living bread; O praise him for his mercies sent to us in this great sacrament!
6 O Holy Father, Holy Son, and Holy Spirit, whom we love, guide, strengthen, save us here below, and bring us to our home above, to praise thee for thy mercies sent to us in this great sacrament!
HYMN: 592 - Hands that have been handling
1 Hands that have been handling holy things and high still, Lord, in thy service bless and fortify.
2 Ears which heard the message of the words of life keep thou closed and guarded from the noise of strife.
3 Eyes whose contemplation looked upon thy love, let them gaze expectant on the world above.
4 ‘Holy, holy, holy,' thee our lips confessed: on those lips for ever let no falsehood rest.
5 Feet which trod the pavement round about God's board, let them walk in glory where God's light is poured.
Bodies that have tasted of the living Bread, be they re-created in their living Head.
7 Be we all one body, all our members one, measured by the stature of God's full-grown Son.
HYMN: 584 - Father God, the Lord, Creator
1 Father God, the Lord, Creator, by whose hand we all are fed, in your mercy re-create us at the breaking of the bread.
2 Christ our Lord, be present with us, risen victorious from the dead! In your mercy may we know you in the breaking of the bread.
3 Holy Spirit, God's empowering, by whose life the Church is led; in your mercy, send us strengthened from the breaking of the bread.
4 Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, hear our praises - sung and said. From our hearts comes our thanksgiving for the breaking of the bread.
HYMNS FOR BLESSING: 644, 183, 760 (MP)

1 Come, sing with holy gladness, high alleluias sing, uplift your loud hosannas to Jesus, Lord and King;
sing, boys, in joyful chorus your hymn of praise today, and sing, ye gentle maidens, your sweet responsive lay.
2 ‘Tis good for boys and maidens sweet hymns to Christ to sing, ‘tis meet that children's voices should praise the children's King: for Jesus is salvation, and glory, grace, and rest: to babe, and boy, and maiden the one Redeemer Blest.
3 O boys, be strong in Jesus, to toil for him is gain, and Jesus wrought with Joseph with chisel, saw, and plane; O maidens, live for Jesus, who was a maiden's Son; be patient, pure, and gentle, and perfect grace begun.
4 Soon in the golden city the boys and girls shall play, and through the dazzling mansions rejoice in endless day; O Christ, prepare thy children with that triumphant throng to pass the burnished portals, and sing the eternal song.

2 Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb; lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom; let the Church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing, for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost it sting. Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son, endless is the victory, thou o'er death hast won.
3 No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life; life is nought without thee: aid us in our strife; make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love: bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above. Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son, endless is the victory, thou o'er death hast won.
HYMN: 760 (MP) - When we walk with the Lord
1 When we walk with the Lord In the light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way; While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain
Trust and obey, For there's no other way To be happy in Jesus, But to trust and obey.
2 Not a shadow can rise, Not a cloud in the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away; Not a doubt or a fear, Not a sigh or a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey.
Refrain
3
Not a burden we bear, Not a sorrow we share, But our toil He doth richly repay; Not a grief or a loss, Not a frown or a cross, But is blest if we trust and obey. Refrain
