OPENING PRAYER
INTROIT HYMN: 384 - Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation; O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation: all ye who hear, now to his temple draw near, joining in glad adoration.
2 Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth, shieldeth thee gently from harm, or when fainting sustaineth: hast thou not seen how thy heart’s wishes have been granted in what he ordaineth?
3 Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee; surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend thee: ponder anew what the Almighty can do, if to the end he befriend thee.
4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him! Let the amen sound from his people again, gladly for aye we adore him.

HOLY BAPTISM
One of the following Sentences shall be said by the minister.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5
In truth I tell you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born from water and the Spirit. John 3:5
By Baptism we were buried with Christ and lay dead, in order that, as Christ was raised from the dead in the splendour of the Father, so also we might set our feet upon the new path of life. Romans 6:4
PRESIDENT
Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Alleluia! Alleluia!
ALL
And blessed be his kingdom, now and forever. Amen. Alleluia! Alleluia!
DECLARATION
MINISTER:
In Holy Baptism, the Church proclaims the Good News of our incorporation into the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom which Jesus Christ, our Incarnate Lord, inaugurated by His life of perfect trust and obedience to the Father.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, He brought into being a people for His own possession, which people we are.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are united with Christ in Holy Baptism, sharing not only in His death but also in His resurrection, becoming God's children by
adoption and grace, thus changing our created nature so deeply that the Holy Scripture says that in Baptism we are born again.
Let us therefore pray that those who have come for Baptism may receive, in this Holy Sacrament, that blessing which by nature they cannot have, that they may be made living members of the Church, which is the Body of Christ, and so be set free from the bondage of sin.
MINISTER: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And also with you.
MINISTER: Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, by the power of your Holy Spirit you give to Your children new life through the water of Baptism. Grant that these children raised to new life in Christ, may serve you in faith and love and may grow into the full stature of your Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
ALL: Amen.
Second Sunday after Pentecost (BCP page 174)
PRESIDENT: O God our defender, storms rage about us and cause us to be afraid. Rescue your people from despair, deliver your sons and daughters from fear, and preserve us all from unbelief; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
PRESIDENT: Kindly sit for the ministry of the word.
FIRST LESSON: 1 Kings 19:1-4, (5-7), 8-15a [Mrs Agnes Armstrong-Bowen]
READER: A Reading from the Word of God, written in the first book of Kings, chapter nineteen beginning at the first verse.
ILLUMINATION:
READER: Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life like the life of one of
them by this time tomorrow." Then he was afraid; he got up and fled for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongs to Judah; he left his servant there. But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a solitary broom tree. He asked that he might die: "It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my ancestors." [Then he lay down under the broom tree and fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him and said to him, "Get up and eat." He looked, and there at his head was a cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again. The angel of the Lord came a second time, touched him, and said, "Get up and eat, otherwise the journey will be too much for you."] He got up, and ate and drank; then he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God. At that place he came to a cave, and spent the night there. Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" He answered, "I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away." He said, "Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" He answered, "I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away." Then the Lord said to him, "Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus."
READER: The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
PSALM 42
1. Like as the hart desireth the water-brooks: so longeth my soul after thee, O God.
2. My soul is athirst for God, yea, even for the living God: when shall I come to appear before the presence of God?
3. My tears have been my meat day and night: while they daily say unto me, Where is now thy God?
4. Now when I think thereupon, I pour out my heart by myself: for I went with the multitude, and brought them forth into the house of God;
5. In the voice of praise and thanksgiving: among such as keep holy-day.
6. Why art thou so full of heaviness, O my soul: and why art thou so disquieted within me?
7. Put thy trust in God: for I will yet give him thanks for the help of his countenance.
8. My God, my soul is vexed within me: therefore will I remember thee concerning the land of Jordan, and the little hill of Hermon.
9. One deep calleth another, because of the noise of the water-pipes: all thy waves and storms are gone over me.
10. The Lord hath granted his loving-kindness in the day-time: and in the nightseason did I sing of him, and made my prayer unto the God of my life.
11. I will say unto the God of my strength, Why hast thou forgotten me: why go I thus heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?
12. My bones are smitten asunder as with a sword: while mine enemies that trouble me cast me in the teeth;
13. Namely, while they say daily unto me: Where is now thy God?
14. Why art thou so vexed, O my soul: and why art thou so disquieted within me?
15. O put thy trust in God: for I will yet thank him, which is the help of my countenance, and my God.
PSALM 43
1. Give sentence with me, O God, and defend my cause against the ungodly people: O deliver me from the deceitful and wicked man.
2. For thou art the God of my strength, why hast thou put me from thee: and why go I so heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?
3. O send out thy light and thy truth, that they may lead me: and bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy dwelling.
4. And that I may go unto the altar of God, even unto the God of my joy and gladness: and upon the harp will I give thanks unto thee, O God, my God.
5. Why art thou so heavy, O my soul: and why art thou so disquieted within me?
6. O put thy trust in God: for I will yet give him thanks, which is the help of my countenance, and my God.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
SECOND LESSON: Galatians 3:23-29 [Mr Hamilton Cumberbatch]
READER: A reading from the word of God written in the book of Galatians, chapter three, beginning at the twenty-third verse.
ILLUMINATION:
READER: Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed. Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to the promise.
READER: The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
GRADUAL HYMN: 223 - Great is thy faithfulness (verses 1 & 2)
1 Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with thee; thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not, as thou hast been thou for ever wilt be.
Refrain
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
2 Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above, join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

THE GOSPEL: Luke 8:26-39
PRESIDENT: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And also with you.
PRESIDENT: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke the eighth chapter beginning at the twenty-sixth verse.
ALL: Glory to Christ our Saviour
ILLUMINATION:
PRESIDENT: Jesus and his disciples arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. As he stepped out on land, a man of the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he fell down before him and shouted at the top of his voice, "What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me" for Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds.) Jesus then asked him, "What is your name?" He said, "Legion"; for many demons had entered him. They begged him not to order them to go back into the abyss. Now there on the hillside a large herd of swine was feeding; and the demons begged Jesus to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. Then the demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned. When the swineherds saw what had happened, they ran off and told it in the city and in the country. Then people came out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. Those who had seen it told them how the one who had been possessed by demons had been healed. Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to
leave them; for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned. The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him; but Jesus sent him away, saying, "Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him.
PRESIDENT: This is the Gospel of Christ ALL: Praise to Christ our Lord
HYMN: 223 (verse 3)

THE SERMON
HYMN FOR BAPTISM PREPARATION: 650
1 I was made a Christian when my name was given, one of God's dear children, and an heir of heaven. In the name of Christian I will glory now, evermore remember my baptismal vow.
2 I must, like a Christian, shun all evil ways, keep the faith of Jesus, serve him all my days. Called to be a Christian, I will praise the Lord, seek for his assistance so to keep my word.
All a Christian's blessings I will claim for mine: holy work and worship, fellowship divine. Father, Son and Spirit, give me grace, that I still may live a Christian, and a Christian die.
THE PRESENTATION (Page
273)
MINISTER:
Why do you present this child for baptism?
ANSWER: We present this child for Baptism in order that she may be incorporated into Christ, our Incarnate Lord.
MINISTER:
Parents and Godparents, the child whom you have brought for baptism will, by reason of her infancy, depend on your help and encouragement to grow in the knowledge, reverence and service of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father.
You must remember, that it is also your duty to see that she is instructed in the good news of God's salvation in Christ, the Church's Creeds and Catechism and all other things which a Christian ought to know, believe and practice as a member of the family of God.
As she grows up, she will also need the help and encouragement of that family, so that she learns to be faithful in public worship and private prayer, to live by love and trust in God, and in due course to come to receive the laying on of hands by the Bishop in Confirmation.
QUESTION:
Will you give that help and encouragement by your prayers, by your example, and by your teaching?
ANSWER: I will do so, the Lord being my helper.
QUESTION:
Will you do all in your power to see that this child is brought to the Bishop to be confirmed by him and to receive the Body and Blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the Holy Communion?
ANSWER: I will do so, the Lord being my helper.
THE BAPTISMAL VOWS
MINISTER:

Do you turn to Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Saviour?
ANSWER: I turn and accept Him.
QUESTION:
Do you put your whole trust in His grace and love?
ANSWER: I so put my trust.
QUESTION:
Do you promise to love God and obey Him as your Lord?
ANSWER: I promise.
QUESTION:
Do you renounce Satan, and all the spiritual forces of wickedness?
ANSWER: I do.
QUESTION:
Do you renounce injustice and all the evil powers of this world?
ANSWER: I do.
QUESTION:
Do you reject sin so as to live in the freedom of God's children?
ANSWER: I do.
Let us pray
The minister says one of the following prayers.
Heavenly Father, in your love you have called us to know you, led us to trust you, and united our life with yours. Surround this child with your love; protect her from evil; sustain and guide her by your Holy Spirit, and receive her into the family of your Church; that she may walk with us in the way of Christ and grow in the knowledge of your love. Amen.
Heavenly Father and giver of all grace, we ask your blessing on this child who is about the be baptized and made heirs of your heavenly Kingdom, that through the prayers, the teaching, the example, and the sharing in the life of those who love and care for her, she may grow up in the faith of Christ crucified and in the fellowship of His Church, to serve you faithfully all the days of their life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
THE BLESSING OF THE WATER
V The Lord be with you. R And also with you.
V Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. R It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
We thank you Heavenly Father for the gift of water; over it your Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation; through it you led the children of Israel out of the bondage of Egypt; in it your son Jesus received the Baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit; fulfilling His Ministry by the offering of Himself on the Cross, blood and water flowed from His side.
We thank you Heavenly Father because you have appointed the water of Baptism for the regeneration of all people, through Jesus Christ your Son. In joyful obedience to Him, we make disciples of all nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Now therefore sanctify this water by the same Holy Spirit, and grant that all who are baptized in it may be united with Christ, forgiven in Him, set free from the bondage of sin and raised with Christ to eternal life.
By Him, and with Him, and in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honour and glory are yours, Almighty Father, now and forever. Amen.
THE PROFESSION OF FAITH
The minister says to the parents and godparents:
MINISTER:
You have brought this child to Baptism. Will you now declare before God and His Church the Christian Faith into which this child is to be baptized and in which you will help her live and grow?
ANSWER: I will.
The minister says to the congregation:
MINISTER:
My brothers and sisters in Christ, let us join with those who are committing themselves to Christ and renew our Baptismal commitment.
QUESTION:
Do you believe in God the Father?
ANSWER:
I believe in God the Father Almighty creator of heaven and earth.
QUESTION:
Do you believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God?
ANSWER:

rose again, He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
QUESTION:
Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?
ANSWER:
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.
MINISTER:
This is the faith of the Church.

THE GREETING OF THE PEACE
FORM A
PRESIDENT
We are the body of Christ. By the one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body, and have all been made to drink of the one Spirit
ALL
Let us then pursue the things that make for peace and build up the common life.
PRESIDENT
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
ALL And also with you.
PRESIDENT: Let us share that peace.
THE PEACE SONG: Make me a channel of your peace
1 Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred let me bring your love; where there is injury, your pardon, Lord; and where there's doubt, true faith in you.
2 Make me a channel of your peace. Where there's despair in life let me bring hope; where there is darkness, only light; and where there's sadness, ever joy.
Refrain:
O Master grant that I may never seek so much to-be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved, as to love with all my soul.
3 Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, in giving of ourselves that we receive; and in dying that we're born to eternal life.
OFFERTORY HYMNS: 253, 308
HYMN: 253 - How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
1 How sweet the name of Jesus sounds in a believer's ear! It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds, and drives away his fear.
2 It makes the wounded spirit whole, and calms the troubled breast; 'tis manna to the hungry soul, and to the weary rest.
3
Dear name! The rock on which I build, my shield and hiding-place, my never-failing treasury filled with boundless stores of grace.
4 Jesus! My Shepherd, Brother, Friend, My Prophet, Priest, and King, My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End, accept the praise I bring.
5 Weak is the effort of my heart, and cold my warmest thought; but when I see thee as thou art, I'll praise thee as I ought.
6 Till then I would thy love proclaim with every fleeting breath; and may the music of thy name refresh my soul in death.
HYMN: 308 - For the healing of the nations
1 For the healing of the nations, Lord, we pray with one accord, for a just and equal sharing of the things that earth affords. To a life of love in action help us rise and pledge our word.
2 Lead us forward into freedom, from despair your world release, that, redeemed from war and hatred, all may come and go in peace. Show us how through care and goodness fear will die and hope increase.
3
All that kills abundant living, let it from the earth be banned: pride of status, race or schooling, dogmas that obscure your plan. In our common quest for justice may we hallow life's brief span.
4 You, Creator-God, have written your great name on humankind; for our growing in your likeness bring the life of Christ to mind; that by our response and service earth its destiny may find.

With them we offer ourselves, our lives, and our work, to become through your Holy Spirit a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice. As this bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, so may we and all your people become channels of your love; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYERS
SURSUM CORDA
PRESIDENT: The Lord be with you.

ALL: We lift them up to the Lord.
PRESIDENT: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
ALL: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

ALL:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER D
(BCP Page 140)
PRESIDENT: All glory, praise and thanksgiving be unto you, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God, you created the world and all mankind, and of your tender mercy gave your only Son Jesus Christ to take our nature upon Him, and to suffer death upon the cross, for our redemption, He made there, by His own oblation of Himself once offered, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and He instituted, and in his holy Gospel commanded us to continue, a perpetual memory of His precious death, until His coming again.
Hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech you; and be pleased to accept, bless and sanctify these gifts and creatures of bread and wine; that they may be for us the Body and Blood of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
For, on the night He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to you, He broke it and gave it to His disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it: This is my Body which is given for you, Do this for the remembrance of me.”
And after supper He took the cup of wine: and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
PRESIDENT: In faith we acclaim You, O Christ
ALL: Dying, You destroyed our death; Rising, You restored our life; Christ Jesus, come in glory.
PRESIDENT: Now therefore, O Lord and heavenly Father, we your servants with all your holy people, having in remembrance the blessed passion, mighty resurrection, and glorious ascension of your beloved Son, do offer unto your Divine Majesty this Bread of eternal life and this Cup of everlasting salvation, rendering thanks to you for the wonderful redemption which you have made possible for us in Him.
And we beseech you O Father, to accept upon your heavenly altar, this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; and to grant that by the merits and death of your Son Jesus Christ, and through faith in His blood, we and all your whole Church may obtain remission of our sins and all other benefits of His passion.
And we pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit all who shall be partakers of this holy Communion may be filled with your grace and heavenly benediction; and be numbered in the glorious company of your Saints.
And here we offer and present unto you, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and lively sacrifice. And although we are unworthy to offer unto you any sacrifice, yet we beseech you to accept this, our bounden duty and service, not weighing our merits but pardoning our offences;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be unto you, O Father Almighty, throughout all ages, world without end.
ALL: Amen
THE LORD’S PRAYER (BCP Page 144)
PRESIDENT: As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray:
ALL: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.
THE BREAKING OF BREAD (BCP Page 145)
PRESIDENT: We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
ALL: Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.
THE AGNUS DEI (BCP Page 147)
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: grant us peace.
THE INVITATION (BCP Page 145-146)
FORM B
PRESIDENT: The Gifts of God for the People of God.
ALL: Our souls will feast and be satisfied, and we will sing glad songs of praise to Him.
COMMUNION HYMNS: 571, 441, 499, 335
HYMN: 571 - And now, O Father, mindful of the love
1 And now, O Father, mindful of the love that bought us, once for all, on Calvary's tree, and having with us him that pleads above, we here present, we here spread forth to thee that only offering perfect in thine eyes, the only true, pure, immortal sacrifice.
2
Look, Father, look on his anointed face, and only look on us as found in him; look not on our misusings of thy grace, our prayer so languid, and our faith so dim; for lo! Between our sins and their reward we set the passion of thy Son our Lord.
3 And then for those, our dearest and our best, by this prevailing presence we appeal; O fold them closer to thy mercy's breast, O do thine utmost for their souls' true weal; from tainting mischief keep them white and clear, and crown thy gifts with strength to persevere.
4 And so we come; O draw us to thy feet, most patient Saviour, who canst love us still; and by this food, so awful and so sweet, deliver us from every touch of ill; in thine own service make us glad and free, and grant us never more to part with thee.
HYMN: 441 - As pants the hart for cooling streams
1 As pants the hart for cooling streams when heated in the chase, so longs my soul, O God, for thee, and thy refreshing grace.
2 For thee, my God, the living God, my thirsty soul doth pine: O when shall I behold thy face, thou majesty divine?
3 Why restless, why cast down, my soul? Hope still, and thou shalt sing the praise of him who is thy God, thy health's eternal spring.
4 To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the God whom we adore, be glory, as it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
HYMN: 499 - Dear Lord and Father of mankind
1 Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways! Re-clothe us in our rightful mind, in purer lives thy service find, in deeper reverence, praise.
2 In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, the gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word, rise up and follow thee.
3 O Sabbath rest by Galilee! O calm of hills above, where Jesus knelt to share with thee the silence of eternity, interpreted by love!
4 Drop thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease; take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace.
5 Breathe through the heats of our desire thy coolness and thy balm; let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire, O still small voice of calm.
HYMN: 335 - Now let us from this table rise
1 Now let us from this table rise renewed in body, mind, and soul; with Christ we die and rise again, his selfless love has made us whole.
2 With minds alert, upheld by grace, to spread the Word in speech and deed, we follow in the steps of Christ, at one with all in hope and need.
3 To fill each human house with love, it is the sacrament of care; the work that Christ began to do we humbly pledge ourselves to share.
4 Then grant us courage, Companion-God, to choose again the pilgrim way and help us to accept with joy the challenge of tomorrow's day.
HYMNS FOR BLESSING: 539, 659
HYMN: 539 - Take my life, and let it be
1 Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee; take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.
2 Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of thy love. Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.
3 Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King; take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee.
4
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold. Take my intellect, and use Every power as thou shalt choose.
5 Take my will, and make it thine; it shall be no longer mine; take my heart: it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.
6 Take my love; my Lord, I pour at thy feet its treasure-store. Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for thee.
659 - Lamb of God, I look to thee
1 Lamb of God, I look to thee, thou shalt my example be: thou art gentle, meek, and mild, thou wast once a little child.
2 Fain I would be as thou art; give me thy obedient heart; thou art pitiful and kind, let me have thy loving mind.
3 Meek and lowly may I be; thou art all humility: let me to my betters bow, subject to thy parents thou.
4 Let me above all fulfill God my Heavenly Father's will; never his good Spirit grieve, only to his glory live.
HYMN:
5
Thou didst live to God alone, thou didst never seek thine own, thou thyself didst never please, God was all thy happiness.
6 Loving Jesu, gentle Lamb, in thy gracious hands I am; make me, Saviour, what thou art; live thyself within my heart.
7 I shall then show forth thy praise, serve thee all my happy days; then the world shall always see Christ, the Holy Child, in me.

HYMN: 375 - O praise ye the Lord
1 O praise ye the Lord! Praise him in the height; rejoice in his word, ye angels of light; ye heavens, adore him by whom ye were made, and worship before him, in brightness arrayed.
2 O praise ye the Lord! Praise him upon earth, in tuneful accord, ye sons of new birth; praise him who hath brought you his grace from above, praise him who hath taught you to sing of his love.
3 O praise ye the Lord, all things that give sound; each jubilant chord, re-echo around; loud organs, his glory forth tell in deep tone, and sweet harp, the story of what he hath done.
4 O praise ye the Lord! Thanksgiving and song to him be outpoured all ages along: for love in creation, for heaven restored, for grace of salvation O praise ye the Lord!
