OPENING PRAYER
INTROIT HYMN: 506 - Man of Sorrows! What a name
1 Man of Sorrows! What a name for the Son of God, who came ruined sinners to reclaim!
Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
2 Bearing shame and scoffing rude, in my place condemned He stood; sealed my pardon with his blood; Hallelujah! what a Saviour!
3 Guilty, vile and helpless we, spotless Lamb of God was he full atonement - can it be?
Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
4 Lifted up was he to die, "It is finished!" was his cry; now in heaven exalted high; Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
5 When he comes, our glorious King, all his ransomed home to bring, then anew this song we'll sing Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
.

PRESIDENT: Kindly sit for the ministry of the word.
FIRST LESSON: Isaiah 45:21-25 [Mr. Gordan Maxwell]
READER: A Reading from the Word of God, written in the book of Isaiah, chapter forty-five beginning at the twenty-first verse.
ILLUMINATION:
READER: Declare and present your case; let them take counsel together! Who told this long ago? Who declared it of old? Was it not I, the Lord? There is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Saviour; there is no one besides me. Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, from my mouth has gone forth in righteousness a word that shall not return: “To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.” Only in the Lord, it shall be said of me, are righteousness and strength; all who were incensed against him shall come to him and be ashamed. In the Lord all the offspring of Israel shall triumph and glory.
READER: The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
PSALM 98
1. O sing unto the Lord a new song : for he hath done marvellous things.
2. With his own right hand, and with his holy arm : hath he gotten himself the victory.
3. The Lord declared his salvation : his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
4. He hath remembered his mercy and truth toward the house of Israel : and all the ends of the world have seen the salvation of our God.
5. Shew yourselves joyful unto the Lord, all ye lands : sing, rejoice, and give thanks.
6. Praise the Lord upon the harp : sing to the harp with a psalm of thanksgiving.
7. With trumpets also and shawms : O shew yourselves joyful before the Lord the King.
8. Let the sea make a noise, and all that therein is : the round world, and they that dwell therein.
9. Let the floods clap their hands, and let the hills be joyful together before the Lord : for he is come to judge the earth.
10.With righteousness shall he judge the world : and the people with equity.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
SECOND LESSON: Philippians 2:5-11 [Mrs. Lana Evelyn]
READER: A reading from the word of God written in the book of Philippians, chapter two, beginning at the fifth verse.
ILLUMINATION:
READER: Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
READER: The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
GRADUAL HYMN: 147 - When I survey the wondrous cross (verses 1&2)
1 When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.
2
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, save in the cross of Christ, my God: all the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to his blood.
THE GOSPEL: John 12:31-36
PRESIDENT: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And also with you.
PRESIDENT: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John, the twelfth chapter beginning at the thirty-first verse.
ALL: Glory to Christ our Saviour
ILLUMINATION:
PRESIDENT: Jesus said, “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to indicate the kind of death he was to die. The crowd answered him, “We have heard from the law that the Messiah remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” Jesus said to them, “The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. If you walk in the darkness, you do not know where you are going. While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light.”
PRESIDENT: This is the Gospel of Christ.
ALL: Praise to Christ our Lord.
HYMN: 147 (verses 3&4)
3 See, from his head, his hands, his feet, sorrow and love flow mingling down; did e'er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown?
4
Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were an offering far too small; love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.
THE SERMON
PRESIDENT: Let us now stand and reaffirm our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ in the words of the Nicene Creed.
NICENE CREED [BCP page 104]
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen or unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge
the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father. With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

ACT OF PENITENCE (BCP Page 123)

A period of silence shall be kept.
PRESIDENT: Let us therefore confess our sins.
FORM A (BCP Page 123)

For your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, forgive us all that is past, and grant that we may serve you in newness of life to the glory of your Name. Amen

FORM A
PRESIDENT: We are the body of Christ. By the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. and have all been made to drink of the one Spirit.
ALL: Let us then pursue the things that make for peace and build up the common life.
PRESIDENT: The peace of the Lord be always with you.
ALL: And also with you.
PRESIDENT: Let us share that peace.
SONG FOR THE PEACE: HYMN 453 - Make me a channel of your peace
1 Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred let me bring your love; where there is injury, your pardon, Lord; and where there's doubt, true faith in you.
2 Make me a channel of your peace. Where there's despair in life let me bring hope; where there is darkness, only light; and where there's sadness, ever joy.
Refrain:
O Master grant that I may never seek so much to-be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved, as to love with all my soul.
3
Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, in giving of ourselves that we receive; and in dying that we're born to eternal life.
OFFERTORY HYMNS: 134, 509
HYMN: 134 - Lift high the cross
Refrain: Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adores his sacred name!
1 Come, Christians, follow where the Captain trod, the King victorious, Christ the Son of God.
Refrain
2 Each newborn soldier of the crucified Bears on the brow the seal of him who died.
Refrain
3 This is the sign that Satan's armies fear and angels veil their faces to revere.
Refrain
4 Saved by the Cross on which their Lord was slain, see Adam's children their lost home regain.
Refrain
5 From north and south, from east and west they raise in growing unison their songs of praise.
Refrain
6 Let every race and every language tell of him who saves our souls from death and hell!
Refrain
7 O Lord, once lifted on the tree of pain, draw all the world to see you once again. Refrain
8 Set up your throne, that earth's despair may cease beneath the shadow of its healing peace: Refrain
HYMN: 509 – Take up thy cross, the Saviour said
1 Take up thy cross, the Saviour said, if thou wouldst my disciple be; deny thyself, the world forsake, and humbly follow after me.
2 Take up thy cross! Let not its weight fill thy weak spirit with alarm: his strength shall bear thy spirit up, and brace thy heart, and nerve thine arm
3 Take up thy cross, nor heed the shame, nor let thy foolish pride rebel: thy Lord for thee the cross endured, to save thy soul from death and hell.
4 Take up thy cross then in his strength, and calmly every danger brave; ‘twill guide thee to a better home, and lead to victory o'er the grave.
5 Take up thy cross, and follow Christ, nor think till death to lay it down; for only he who bears the cross may hope to wear the glorious crown.
6 To thee, great Lord, the One in Three, all praise for evermore ascend: O grant us in our home to see the heavenly life that knows no end.
THE
PRESENTATION OF OFFERING - FORM B (BCP Page 126)
PRESIDENT AND PEOPLE
Father, we offer to you these gifts which you have given us; this bread, this wine, this money. With them we offer ourselves, our lives, and our work, to become through your Holy Spirit a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice. As this bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, so may we and all your people become channels of your love; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen
THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYERS SURSUM CORDA
PRESIDENT: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And also with you.
PRESIDENT: Lift up your hearts.
ALL: We lift them up to the Lord.
PRESIDENT: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
ALL: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
PRESIDENT: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father Almighty, everlasting God:
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. For our sins he was lifted high upon the cross, that He might draw the whole world to Himself; and, by His suffering and death, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who put their trust in Him.
Therefore, we praise you; joining our voices with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:
ALL: Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER D
(BCP Page 140)
PRESIDENT: All glory, praise and thanksgiving be unto you, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God, you created the world and all mankind, and of your tender mercy gave your only Son Jesus Christ to take our nature upon Him, and to suffer death upon the cross, for our redemption, He made there, by His own oblation of Himself once offered, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and He instituted, and in his holy Gospel commanded us to continue, a perpetual memory of His precious death, until His coming again.
Hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech you; and be pleased to accept, bless and sanctify these gifts and creatures of bread and wine; that they may be for us the Body and Blood of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
For, on the night He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to you, He broke it and gave it to His disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it: This is my Body which is given for you, Do this for the remembrance of me.”
And after supper He took the cup of wine: and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
PRESIDENT: In faith we acclaim You, O Christ
ALL: Dying, You destroyed our death; Rising, You restored our life; Christ Jesus, come in glory.
PRESIDENT: Now therefore, O Lord and heavenly Father, we your servants with all your holy people, having in remembrance the blessed passion, mighty resurrection, and glorious ascension of your beloved Son, do offer unto your Divine Majesty this Bread of eternal life and this Cup of everlasting salvation, rendering thanks to you for the wonderful redemption which you have made possible for us in Him.
And we beseech you O Father, to accept upon your heavenly altar, this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; and to grant that by the merits and death of your Son Jesus
Christ, and through faith in His blood, we and all your whole Church may obtain remission of our sins and all other benefits of His passion.
And we pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit all who shall be partakers of this holy Communion may be filled with your grace and heavenly benediction; and be numbered in the glorious company of your Saints.
And here we offer and present unto you, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and lively sacrifice.
And although we are unworthy to offer unto you any sacrifice, yet we beseech you to accept this, our bounden duty and service, not weighing our merits but pardoning our offences;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be unto you, O Father Almighty, throughout all ages, world without end.
ALL: Amen
THE LORD’S PRAYER (BCP Page 144)
PRESIDENT: As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray:
ALL: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.
THE BREAKING OF BREAD (BCP Page 145)
PRESIDENT: We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
ALL: Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.
THE AGNUS DEI (BCP Page 147)
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: grant us peace.
THE INVITATION (BCP Page 145-146)
FORM B
PRESIDENT: The Gifts of God for the People of God.
ALL: Our souls will feast and be satisfied, and we will sing glad songs of praise to Him.
COMMUNION HYMNS: 151, 474, 165 (RH), 146
HYMN: 151 - Beneath the cross of Jesus
1 Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand, the shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land; a home within a wilderness, a rest upon the way, from the burning of the noontide heat and the burden of the day.
2 Upon that cross of Jesus, mine eye at times can see the very dying form of One, who suffered there for me: and from my stricken heart, with tears, two wonders I confessthe wonders of redeeming love, and my own worthlessness.
3 I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place!
I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of his face,
content to let the world go by, to know no gain or loss, my sinful self my only shame, my glory all - the cross.
HYMN: 474 - Rock of ages, cleft for me
1 Rock of ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee; let the water and the blood from thy riven side which flowed, be of sin the double cure: cleanse me from its guilt and power.
2 Not the labours of my hands can fulfil thy law's demands; could my zeal no respite know, could my tears for ever flow, all for sin could not atone; thou must save, and thou alone.
3 Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I cling; naked, come to thee for dress; helpless, look to thee for grace; foul, I to the fountain fly; wash me, Saviour, or I die.
4 While I draw this fleeting breath, when my eyelids close in death, when I soar through tracts unknown see thee on thy judgement throne; Rock of ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.
HYMN: 165 (RH) - King of my life I crown Thee now
1 King of my life I crown Thee now, Thine shall the glory be; lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow, lead me to Calvary.
Refrain:
Lest I forget Gethsemane, lest I forget Thine agony, lest I forget Thy love for me, lead me to Calvary.
2 Show me the tomb where Thou wast laid, tenderly mourned and wept; angels in robes of light arrayed guarded Thee whilst Thou slept.
Refrain
3 Let me like Mary, through the gloom, come with a gift to Thee; show to me now the empty tomb, lead me to Calvary.
Refrain
4 May I be willing, Lord, to bear daily my cross for Thee; even Thy cup of grief to share, Thou hast borne all for me.
Refrain
5 Fill me, O Lord, with Thy desire For all that know not Thee; Then touch my lips with holy fire, To speak of Calvary.
Refrain
HYMN: 146 - Thy life was given for me
1 Thy life was given for me; thy blood, O Lord, was shed, that I might ransomed be, and quickened from the dead; thy life was given for me; what have I given for thee?
2 Long years were spent for me, in weariness and woe, that through eternity thy glory I might know. long years were spent for me; have I spent one for thee?
3 Thy Father's home of light, thy rainbow-circled throne, were left for earthly night, for wanderings sad and lone; yea, all was left for me; have I left aught for thee?
4 Thou, Lord, hast borne for me more than my tongue can tell of bitterest agony, to rescue me from hell. thou sufferedst all for me; what have I borne for thee?
5 And thou hast brought to me, down from thy home above, salvation full and free, thy pardon and thy love; great gifts thou broughtest me; what have I brought to thee?
6 O let my life be given, my years for thee be spent, world fetters all be riven, and joy with suffering blent; thou gavest thyself for me, I give myself to thee.
HYMNS FOR BLESSING: 133, 536 (MP)
HYMN: 133 - Jesus, keep me near the cross
1 Jesus, keep me near the cross, there's a precious fountain; free to all, a healing stream, flows from Calvary's mountain.
Refrain:
In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever; till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river.
2 Near the cross, a trembling soul, love and mercy found me; there the bright and Morning Star sheds its beams around me.
Refrain
3 Near the cross! O Lamb of God, bring its scenes before me; help me walk from day to day with its shadows o'er me.
Refrain
4 Near the cross I'll watch and wait, hoping, trusting ever, till I reach the golden strand just beyond the river.
Refrain
HYMN: 536 (MP) - On a hill far away
1 On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame; and I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain: So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.
2 O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, has a wondrous attraction for me; for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above to bear it to dark Calvary.
Refrain
3 In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, a wondrous beauty I see, for 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, to pardon and sanctify me.
Refrain
4 To that old rugged cross I will ever be true, its shame and reproach gladly bear; then he'll call me some day to my home far away, where his glory forever I'll share.
Refrain

NOTICES & HIGHLIGHTS
RECESSIONAL HYMN: 190 - Crown him with many crowns
1 Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne, hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own: awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.
2 Crown him the Virgin's Son, the God incarnate born, whose arm those crimson trophies w which now his brow adorn: fruit of the mystic Rose, as of that Rose the Stem; the Root whence mercy ever flows the Babe of Bethlehem.
3
Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, those wounds yet visible above in beauty glorified: no angel in the sky can fully bear that sight, but downward bends his burning eye at mysteries so bright.
4
5
Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a sceptre sways from pole to pole, that wars may cease and all be prayer and praise: his reign shall know no end, and round his piercèd feet fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet.
Crown him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time, Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime: all hail, Redeemer, hail, for thou hast died for me; thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity.
CLOSING PRAYER
PRESIDENT: Go in peace and serve the Lord.
ALL: In the name of Christ. Amen.
