We are proud of the numerous trails and parks in the community.7 The many trails connect us to downtown Minneapolis, the Uptown area, Hopkins and Chaska. There are 52 parks throughout the city to enjoy (11.5 percent of our land is set aside for parks). These parks provide recreation, community space and beauty to all of St. Louis Park in every season.

The Rec Center The Rec Center has two indoor ice arenas, a skate shop, Banquet Room, Gallery Room, outdoor Aquatic Park and the Recreation Outdoor Center (ROC).

The building offers plenty of space for hockey tournaments, meetings, wedding receptions, conferences, birthday parties and more. The site has a caterer’s holding kitchen and Wi-Fi access.

Alcoholic beverages are allowed at The Rec Center for private events and at the ROC with the appropriate license (restrictions apply).

Banquet Room The Rec Center’s 3,040-square-foot Banquet Room overlooks scenic Wolfe Park and the Aquatic Park. It is available for wedding receptions, birthday parties, bar and bat mitzvah celebrations, company events, family reunions and meetings.

Gallery Room The 1,305-square-foot Gallery Room is situated conveniently on the first floor of The Rec Center between the East and West ice arenas.

This room’s informal setting is perfect for small groups, team meetings and birthday parties. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in this room.

West and East Ice Arenas The Rec Center has two indoor ice arenas. The larger West Ice Arena has stadium seating and excellent sight lines. The smaller East Ice Arena provides great lighting and has an informal rink setting. Both arenas have outstanding ice and are available for the general public to rent. The arenas are perfect for holiday parties, company events school groups and tournaments.

Veterans’ Memorial Amphitheater

Rec Center

Terraced into the hill, the amphitheater connects Wolfe Park to downtown St. Louis Park. Its eight terraced tiers offer seating for up to 300 people.

The concrete stage at the bottom of the hill is edged with trees and shrubs. The facility is available to rent until 10 p.m. with an additional fee for overhead lights.

Monterey Drive

The amphitheater/park building rate is reduced to half price, if either the amphitheater or Wolfe Park building is rented with The Rec Center’s Banquet Room. The total fee depends on the time of day and rental length.

Excelsior and Grand

Recreation Outdoor Center (ROC) The ROC is a covered outdoor facility that has three different rental opportunities depending on the time of year – turf, dry floor and ice arena. The facility measures 200 feet by 85 feet. The uses for this facility are endless!

In the ROC, all tables and chairs must be rented from an outside vendor by the renter.

Aquatic Park The Aquatic Park is the best place to stay cool during the summer. Wade into the pool from the zero-depth entry or splash into the water from the four-story water slides. This facility features a sand and water play area, tot whale slide, spray arches, water geysers, aqua obstacle course, drop slides, lap swim lanes, diving boards and sun decks. It also includes a picnic area, full-service concession stand and locker rooms. The Aquatic Park is also available for private rental.

Gazebo The gazebo accommodates up to 30 people and may be reserved for parties and other events. In addition to the gazebo rental fee, daily admission or a season pass is required to enter the Aquatic Park. One complimentary Aquatic Park admission is provided with rental of the gazebo.

The Rec Center and ROC rights and responsibilities Thank you for your interest in holding your event in one of our facilities! To make your event a success, we ask that you and your guests follow these policies.

General information

• The individual/group named in the agreement is responsible for the use of the facility and will accept responsibility for all damage to the property: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

• The application must include set up time and clean up time. Groups will not be able to enter the facility prior to the rental time listed on the application. If a group ends its event prior to the end time of the reservation, no refund will be issued.

• Smoking is prohibited on all city property.

Facility use

• The use of facilities will be limited to the times and spaces requested on the application. All activities must end with enough time to completely vacate the facilities by the approved time on the agreement and the closure of the facility (ROC – 11 p.m., Banquet Room – midnight, Gallery – 10 p.m.).

• City and state fire and safety regulations must be followed at all times. Renters must comply with the following room maximum occupancies: ROC – 1,400 people, Banquet Room – 200 people, and Gallery Room – 50 people.

• The city will not be responsible for loss of personal property when operations and recreation facilities are being used for a permitted activity. All groups must leave the facility and the caterer’s kitchen in the condition in which they were found. If damage occurs, it will be documented with photos, and any repair bills will be deducted from the damage deposit.

Set up and decorations

• Tables and chairs are available for use in the Banquet and Gallery Rooms. A limited number of tables and chairs are available at the ROC, for smaller events; Contact an event rental agency for additional tables and chairs.

• Decorations can’t scratch, deface or harm walls, ceilings or floors; this includes use of heavy duty tape, staples and nails.

• No confetti, piñatas, uncooked rice, birdseed or fogging machines are allowed in any facility.

• No equipment or supplies may be left overnight.

• Equipment may not be moved from one area to another unless specifically mentioned on the application and under the direct supervision of a city employee. Extra or unusual services must be identified in the application and may not be requested on the day of the event.

• No open flames are allowed at the ROC.

Food and beverage

• Alcohol is allowed in the Banquet Room and the ROC. • At the ROC, the renter may hire any caterer that has a license to serve alcohol.

• Renters or other vendors may not bring alcohol into or on any property of the The Rec Center.

• Any food vendor may be used as long as they meet all Hennepin County food safety requirements.

• Anything that does not fit in the trash receptacles provided on the premises must be removed by the renter.

Payment options

• T he application and rental fee may be returned via mail, fax (952.925.5663) or in person. Faxed applications must include a credit card number for payment. Applications will not be processed without the rental fee.

Cancellation and refund policy

• C ancellation requests must be received in writing from the rental applicant.

• Cancellation requests received 60 days or more prior to the date of the event will receive a 50 percent refund.

• No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received less than 60 days prior to the date of the event.

If any of the above is not followed, the city may immediately end your event, keep the damage deposit, and may revoke the privilege to rent St. Louis Park facilities in the future.

Disclaimer I have read the Renter’s Rights and Responsibilities, Cancellation and Refund Policy, and this contract statement. I understand that any agreement granted would be subject to the Renter’s Rights and Responsibilities for use of City of St. Louis Park Facilities included in this packet. I hereby agree that these rules shall be strictly observed. If these rules are not followed, the City of St. Louis Park may retain my damage deposit, in portion or in whole, and the privilege to rent a St. Louis Park facility may be revoked. I accept entire responsibility for the enforcement of these rules and agree to protect the St. Louis Park facilities and indemnify the City of St. Louis Park of any damage due to the use of the facility covered by this agreement. I also understand that this agreement may be revoked or canceled at any time, with or without cause, and that in the event of such revocation or cancellation, there shall be no claim or right to damages or reimbursement on account of any loss, damage or expense whatsoever. I further agree to protect, indemnify, save and hold harmless the City of St. Louis Park and its officers and employees from any and all claims, liabilities, damages or rights of action directly or indirectly growing out of the use of the facilities requested in this application.
