Located just o France Avenue in the Minikahda Vista neighborhood of St. Louis Park, this traditional 1937 brick home has all the charm you can imagine with detailed built-ins, plaster-coved ceilings and original archways. Many people phase their home remodel projects and this is a prime example of how to do it beautifully! The latest project included updating the kitchen, dining room, living room and powder room. Past projects included new windows throughout as well as a complete remodel of the lower level.
A complete interior remodel and addition increased the square footage on all three levels. On the main level, a staircase was opened up to create a large front entry with an open-concept floor plan. The kitchen was reconfigured and features a new rear entry with custom coat lockers and a powder room. A master suite and bathroom with a large walk-in closet was added on the second level. An additional bedroom creates a four-bedroom, twobathroom home. Attic space was converted for an additional closet and storage area. In the basement, a large family room and a mechanical room were added.

With growing kids this St. Louis Park family had outgrown their story-and-a-half home. Sicora designed and built an entire second story with a master suite, two bedrooms and a second bath. On the main level, the original kitchen was moved and transformed into a chef’s kitchen with a custom recycled glass island countertop. A main level laundry room, foyer and mudroom were also added to complete this entire home remodel. A new front porch and back deck provide some much-needed locations to enjoy the spring breezes.
Grandma wanted to join the kids and the grandkids in a multigenerational household. This western St. Louis Park home was almost perfect. Working with Bluestem, the owners used the split entrance and lower level to create an integrated yet private living space for grandma, including a bedroom, bath, comfortable common room, extended snack bar and space for simple meals. The family can now enjoy activities together or separate as desired, making living together a joy. The grandkids certainly approve. This reimagined basement provides inspiration for families wishing to create a shared home.
