I extend a very warm welcome to all involved in this year’s St Joseph’s Nudgee College Rowing Regatta. I hope that all involved today enjoy their experience; athletes,coaches,supportstaffandsupporters.
The sport of rowing requires a tremendous amount of dedication, commitment and suffering in the hope of attaining wellplanned goals and results. Casual observers within all GPS schools would note that this dedication and commitment displayed by rowers quite often translates into other facets of life.This includes academic excellence, a sense of service and achievement in other sports and physical challenges.
Rowing communities, in every GPS school involved in the sport, are incredibly strong, resilient and generous. One need only observe the army of helpers that transform the two headlands alongWyaralong Dam each of those February and March Saturdays into small villages that cater to the differing needs of athletes and supporters. I know within the Nudgee College rowing community, our programme would not exist without the support of volunteers. It is a great example for all boys competing to see that giving back is a vital part of this sport.
Finally, I wish the best of luck to all involved today. May each boy hit their targets and complete today’s regatta satisfied with their performance.

Welcome to the 2025 St Joseph’s Nudgee College Rowing Regatta!
Our weekends down atWyaralong Dam are an important part of the GPS Sporting Calendar and we are excited to be into our summer sport season and preparing for the Head of the River in a few weeks time. As our communities gather over the coming weeks we look forward to seeing the commitment, passion, rivalry and, most of all, respect between GPS rivals.
It’s been a busy time for Nudgee Rowing as we continue to adapt to our new home atWyampa Road.While rowing is of course a demanding sport for our boys, it is also one in which there is heavy parental involvement and commitment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who support the rowing season, in particular parents and of course our dedicated coaches.
