Vanessa Meades is an Engineering Geologist and geophysicist specializing in non-destructive subsurface investigations. Seeking a lifetime of adventure and impact, she began her career mapping Uranium and other economic mineral deposits in the North American west. With motherhood came a need for more stability, and Vanessa joined the New Jersey Department of Transportation in 2012 as an Engineering Geologist Trainee. Over the following decade, she grew into roles with increasing responsibility in the fields of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Sciences, Construction and Infrastructure management, Emergency Preparedness and Management, and Intelligence amongst various government agencies.
Since intentionally scaling back her work commitments in 2023, Vanessa has devoted herself to a drinking water start-up focused on improving filtration methods to provide clean drinking water free of "forever chemicals"—work she hopes will ultimately make the world a better place. She spends her days with the love of her life, Joe, on a 100-acre horse farm in Bedminster, NJ, where she is a devoted mother, amateur cook, nationally-ranked Rower, part-time paramedic, and proud Hilltopper.
Education: Binghamton University and studied urban planning at the Institute for Human Rights at Columbia University.
