Ford outlined the strategy at its Ford Uncovered media and dealer event in Melbourne, where it
announced the Bronco Basecamp SUV, electric
Transit City van and an Australian-exclusive Mustang Dark Horse with T8-Spec Pack.
Ford Australia and New Zealand president and chief
executive Fadi Mawal says the company will broaden its portfolio with more electric and low-emission
vehicles while retaining capability and practicality. “What makes us different is choice – across price points and powertrains – backed by a brand, a
commercial ecosystem, and a dealer network others can’t match,” Mawal says.
The Bronco Basecamp will use Ford’s first “super
hybrid” extended-range electric powertrain and is
scheduled to arrive during the second half of 2027. Customer deliveries of the fully electric Transit City will begin in November 2026. The van will carry a recommended driveaway price of $50,000.

Ford also used the event to launch Ford Pro locally. The commercial customer ecosystem combines vehicles, customisation, finance, servicing and software through a single offering.
The company says about half of all vehicles sold
in Australia are purchased through an Australian Business Number.

“Our Seven-Year Warranty is a strong commitment to our retail and commercial customers that we’ve got
their backs for longer,” Ford customer service division director Greg Davidson says.
Ford operates through 180 dealerships and more than 220 service outlets across Australia.
The company employs about 1500 people locally and says it has invested $5 billion in Australian research and development during the past decade.
Its Ranger has been Australia’s highest-selling
vehicle for three consecutive years and remains the market leader year-to-date. Everest leads the large SUV segment, while Mustang is the country’s topselling sports car.
Ford says the Australian-developed Ranger and Everest are sold in more than 180 countries.

The Bronco Basecamp is built on a monocoque

The cabin can also be converted into a sleeping area and paired with an optional full-length inflatable mattress.
A 7.5-litre storage compartment capable of warming or cooling food and drinks will be standard on the Outer Banks.
Henderson says the vehicle is suited to the outdoor Australia and New Zealand.

Geely cracks Australia’s top 10 brands Geely Auto Australia was the country’s ninth bestselling automotive brand in August, recording
4504 sales as its growing electrified line-up gained
ground. The result was more than 10 times its August 2025 volume and comes less than 18 months after the Chinese brand entered the Australian market.
All three Geely models currently available in Australia ranked among the country’s top 20 selling vehicles
for the month. The EX5 electric SUV led the brand with 1947 sales, placing seventh overall and accounting for more than four in 10 Geely vehicles sold during August.

Geely lifts export target 44% after record firsthalf profit Geely Automobile Holdings has lifted its 2026 export target by 44% to 920,000 vehicles after posting
record first-half revenue of RMB 173.6 billion, roughly A$36 billion, up 15% year on year.
Core profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 46% to RMB 9.68 billion, about A$2 billion, outpacing revenue growth. Gross margin lifted to 17.9% and
core profit per vehicle rose 45% to RMB 6,806, about A$1,400 at current rates.
The Hong Kong-listed group sold 1,422,958 vehicles globally in the six months to 30 June, including
474,228 outside China. That export figure was up
158% and exceeded the 420,000 units Geely shipped across the whole of 2025. Monthly exports passed 100,000 units in both June and July.
The revised target replaces guidance of 640,000 units, with the company saying it is now working towards close to one million for the year. Its funding reserve
stood at RMB 69.56 billion at 30 June, near a record. What it means for the Australian market Australia is one of 114 overseas markets in a network of

Australian brands, with year-to-date totals of 19,159 and 10,070 respectively.
Three Geely models sat inside the August top 25: the EX5 on 1,947, the EX2 on 1,279 and the Starray EM-i
on 1,278, with the Zeekr 7X on 1,748. Zeekr came into
the listed group last year and accounted for around 12.5% of global volume in the half on more than 178,000 sales.
The margin numbers matter more to Australian
dealers than the volume ones. A 45% lift in profit per vehicle at group level, against a near-record cash position, gives Geely room to keep pricing hard in
technology into international markets from 2027,
after targeting monthly sales above 30,000 i-HEV
units in China by the end of this year. That would add a third powertrain to an Australian line-up currently limited to battery electric and plug-in hybrid, in a market where conventional hybrids are the main compliance lever under NVES.
Second-half product includes the Geely TT, a
C-segment electric sedan, and the Zhanjian 700 off-
roader. Neither has been announced for Australia. The Zeekr 9X is slated for additional overseas markets. Research and development spending rose 8% to
RMB 9.06 billion, although the ratio to revenue fell
0.3 percentage points to 5.2%. Geely is running its
international expansion through partnerships with
Volvo Cars, Proton, Renault Group and Ford across manufacturing, R&D and supply chain, and has
merged its Swedish and German engineering teams
to close the gap between Chinese and export-market launch timing.
