Naast zijn werk als architect is Vittorio Simoni als hoogleraar verbonden aan de universiteit van Hasselt.

Simoni’s innovatieve architectuur is niet in stereotypen of typologieën te vatten. Elke specifieke situatie krijgt een eigen architecturale oplossing, met een situatie-eigen esthetiek en persoonlijkheid. Over deze ontwerpmethodiek verscheen in 2008 bij uitgeverij Stichting Kunstboek het overzichtswerk Situational Architecture.

Vittorio Simoni (°1954, Genk) is one of Belgium’s most prominent architects and interior designers. In 1987, he started his own architecture firm in Hasselt.

What began as a one-man business quickly matured into a thriving company with a dozen employees.

Simoni’s work is highly diverse in its scope, ranging from private homes to public buildings, shops, hotels, luxury resorts, museums and restaurants. Simoni Architects is not only active in Belgium but also Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Dubai, Japan, Bangkok, Curacao and Indonesia. Besides his work as an architect, Vittorio Simoni is a professor at Hasselt University.

Simoni’s innovative architecture defies stereotypes and typologies. Individual situations receive their own architectural solutions, with location-specific aesthetics and personalities. Stichting Kunstboek published a retrospective of his design methodology in 2008, under the title Situational Architecture.

Architect Vittorio Simoni is een verwoed en gepassioneerd reiziger. Op stap gaan doet hij niet uitsluitend om werk van vakgenoten te zien of hoogtepunten van de bouwkunst te bewonderen. Reizen is voor hem de geschikte gelegenheid om zijn kijkend vermogen aan te scherpen, om wat op zijn netvlies komt te bevragen vanuit een vorm van verwondering.

De intensiteit van het observeren is bij Simoni een attitude om de wereld op te nemen.

Drieblad – Wood lily – Trillium – Waldlilie Wijdverspreid geslacht met groenblijvende of bladverliezende bomen, struiken en klimplanten.

De mannelijke en vrouwelijke bloemen groeien meestal aan aparte bomen, waardoor planten van beide geslachten nodig zijn om bessen te bekomen. Zeer breed assortiment in vele vormen en bladtypes waarvan vooral de aquifolium types met hun stekelig blad gekend zijn. Er zijn ook de Ilex crenata of Japanse hulsten met hun kleine, ronde blaadjes, de meservae kruisingen en vele andere selecties.

Krentenboompje – Snowy Mespilus – Amélanchier – Felsenbirne Heldergroene blaadjes, vaak gevlekt en breed ovaal uitlopend in een punt. In het hart van het drietal bladeren zit een enkelvoudige drietallige bloem.

Twee keer per jaar geeft dit geslacht een kleurrijk spektakel, in het voorjaar met de weelderige crèmewitte bloei in losse trossen en in het najaar met de vurige herfstverkleuring van het blad. De eetbare vruchten van verscheidene Amelanchier soorten zijn ook geliefd bij vogels.

Vanwege de dichte vertakking en de vorming van uitlopers geeft de heester ook een goede beschutting.

De meeste van deze Noord-Amerikaanse bosplanten zijn goed winterhard. Op een humusrijke, wat vochtige grond groeien ze uit tot mooie pollen. Niet de gemakkelijkste plant, maar wel erg mooi. Probeer T. grandiflorum.
