WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

The Community Engagement Team at St Hilda's is keen to hear from you about a variety of issues, including:

Ideas for a 60th Anniversary History Book

Your preferences for correspondence from us

Your advice around how we can best support our current and future students for success

If you can spare around 10-15 minutes of your time, we kindly ask that you complete our Alumni Questionnaire

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO ACCESS YOUR ALUMNI QUESTIONNAIRE

Please pass the message along!

Sadly, we are missing the contact details for a number of our St Hilda's alumni over the decades and with our 60th celebrations on the horizon we would very much like to reconnect with as many people as possible so that they can share in the memories.

If you have contact details for people from your peer year who you think may have become disconnected from the College, please feel free to pass the details of this questionnaire onto them or simply encourage them to visit our website and update their details via the form that we have included under the Towards 60 page Alternatively, they can contact the College directly to provide their details and we will update our contact list accordingly.

SCHOOL VISITS ARE BACK!

2022 saw us gradually restart our school visits program and we were so thankful to be able to start heading out to schools again after all the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021

In 2023, we are committed to visiting even more schools and areas and our Community Engagement Manager (Marketing, Communications & Events), Carly Damen has started visiting schools in Northern NSW and Queensland's Gold Coast, as well as a recent weekend information session for students in Sydney.

Our Principal, James Hardiman will be heading to Auckland, New Zealand later in the year to visit a number of schools and we are also planning trips for Brisbane, Adelaide, Tasmania and, of course, our regional heartland areas of Victoria. We are also exploring options for Perth and Canberra

We are hoping that for a couple of our Victorian trips, most likely Ballarat and Geelong, we can also set up some satellite events so that we can catch up with alumni whilst we are in town!

If you would like to host an alumni event in your home town to coincide with a school visit, please don't hesitate to contact Carly directly via communitas@hildas unimelb edu au

Similarly, if you have a particular school that you would like us to consider connecting with, please let us know

MARJORIE SMART ORATION

April 5th saw approximately 100 members of our community come together for our annual Marjorie Smart Oration

It was wonderful to see so many people from across our St Hilda's community sitting down to share a meal and hear from our 2023 Marjorie Smart Orator, Ben Hubbard.

Ben's focus on the toolkit that Generation Z needs for success was one that particularly resonated with our current students and recent alumni and we trust that it provided much food for thought for everyone who was in attendance.

We would like to acknowledge all those who made the night a success. Our sincere thanks once again to Ben Hubbard, to our catering team, our maintenance and housekeeping staff, our wonderful photographer, Kit Edwards and the fabulous team at Tribal Rose Florist in Fitzroy.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Gillian Dunlop for joining us as we unveiled her portrait of St Hilda's 6th Principal, Dr. Brenda Holt. As noted at the event, we are very much looking to seeing Brenda's portrait join those of her predecessors.

Towards the end of the evening, it was acknowledged by our Principal, James Hardiman, that Ben's oration reinforced the extraordinary opportunities that we have as a College to positively influence and proactively support the development of all young people who come through our doors here at St Hilda's. In recognition of this, James put forward a rallying call to those who were in attendance, as we extend that to entire alumni community here.

If you are interested in connecting with and supporting our current and future students through mentoring opportunities, workshops, guest speaking, workplace visits, etc. please do not hesitate to contact us for a discussion. The Hilda's network is broad and diverse and collectively we have enormous potential to help our next generation of Hildarians achieve their goals and positive impact the world around them.

Photos from the event will be made available on the College Flickr account in the coming weeks and we will let you know once those are available
