ST HILDA'S WELCOME DAY 2023

Welcome Saturday on February 18 saw 134 new students join the St Hilda's community!

Our O Week team (pictured right) had spent many weeks preparing to welcome our new students and their families and were kept very busy throughout the day helping them move in.

We have also been thrilled to welcome an additional group of students this year as part of a Transition to Residence program

For a student insight into the day, check out the Welcome Saturday story written by our new Comms Intern, Pema Deane

PRINCIPAL JAMES HARDIMAN, INSTALLATION SERVICE

Congratulations to James Hardiman who was installed as our Seventh Principal on Friday 10 February, 2023

There was a wonderful atmosphere in the Alice Paton Library as our new and past Principals, Fellows and Board donned their robes ahead of the procession to the Auditorium

Led by our Chair of the Board, David Gilbertson KC, the installation service included representation of our current students, staff, Fellows and College

alumnae, as well as a clear passing of the torch from previous principals to James This involvement of so many branches of our community reinforced the significance of what Communitas means to the Hilda's community

The event concluded with a cocktail function in the front quad where we heard from James about his vision for St Hilda's over the coming years

The full album of photographs is available here and our thanks to local florist, Tribal Rose on Smith Street for the beautiful floral arrangements.

YOUNG ALUMNI EVENT FITZROY BOWLS CLUB

Our first alumni event of 2023 was held on Friday 17th February with 60 alumni from 2017-2022 coming together for an evening of barefoot bowls, a BBQ and a couple of drinks at the Fitzroy Bowls Club.

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS

On Saturday 18th February, one of our staff members reached an impressive milestone!

Many of you will know Carol Briggs, our fabulous Accounts Manager. For many years now, Carol has been a regular point of contact for students and parents of the college so it was a lovely little twist of fate that her 25th Anniversary at the college coincided with Welcome Saturday!

While Carol spent her anniversary making sure all our new students were correctly kitted out in their new academic robes, the staff took some time out during O Week to recognise Carol's enormous contribution to the college with cake, flowers and speeches!
