TERM 2026

TERM 2026
At St Helen’s, we believe that education is not confined to the classroom. It is also shaped in the moments when you challenge yourselves, discover new passions, uncover hidden talents, and experience the joy of learning simply for its own sake. Our co-curricular programme is deliberately designed to help you do exactly that.
This booklet reflects one of our core strategic aims: to ensure that every girl is supported and challenged to become an independent, adventurous, and resilient learner who engages fully with the opportunities available to her. Our vision is for you to develop the intellectual curiosity, creativity, digital intelligence, and problem-solving skills that will prepare you for a rapidly changing world. We also want you to have fun too!
Co-curricular life at St Helen’s is more than a timetable of clubs. It is an invitation to expand your horizons beyond the curriculum, to collaborate with others, to build friendships across year groups, and to step into experiences that stretch your imagination and extend your sense of what is possible. Whether you’re joining a society, pursuing a sport, immersing yourself in the arts, or exploring STEM, every activity is part of the wider journey of becoming confident, compassionate, and courageous young women
We ask you to choose your activities thoughtfully and to commit to them for the whole term When you do, you contribute to something bigger than yourself: a culture where every interaction is an intervention, where every girl is known and supported, and where we are united by the ethos to be a place where girls succeed
Thank you to all the staff and students who give their time, expertise and enthusiasm to make this programme such an integral and joyful part of school life.
We look forward to seeing you explore, participate, and flourish in the Spring term.
Best wishes,
Dr N R Dennis
Senior Deputy Head, Academic and Co-Curricular

Our Community Outreach Programme (COP) COP is the newest addition to our Year 10 co-curricular options and therefore the students who select this option this year will be instrumental in shaping the Programme for future generations of St Helen’s students and defining the scope of the community service. Students will attend a Soup and Sandwiches lunchtime event twice a month, hosted by the local charity MHA, based in the Oasis Lounge at Northwood Methodist Church. There are also plans to work with other local charities and organisations. Students who are selected for this option need to display initiative and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as a high degree of empathy and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others If there is a particular community cause that the students would like to support, they will be supported in making this happen Students will develop teamwork and leadership skills at the same time as making a positive difference
The DofE Award Scheme develops the skills of leadership, teamwork and problem solving, as well as allowing students to develop their physical fitness and get outdoors. Participants are required to complete a Volunteering, Skill and Physical commitment, as well as a two-day walking expedition where they camp overnight. The girls will receive training in first-aid, map-reading and camp craft They will plan their own walking route through the Chilterns and come back with a rucksack full of washing and an experience they will never forget!
