ST GEORGE’S ASCOT
Consultant Essentials
A welcome from Hannah Fox At St George’s Ascot, we want every pupil to discover who they are, to develop the confidence to think independently, the courage to embrace new opportunities and the character to lead with kindness and integrity. It is this balance of academic ambition, exceptional care and an education rich in opportunity that defines our School and ensures every pupil leaves ready to make a positive difference in the world.
A warm welcome for every boarding pupil Boarding is particularly special to us. Our boarding houses are welcoming and full of laughter; places where pupils quickly feel at home, build lasting friendships and become a valuable part of our community. Pupils learn from one another, celebrate different cultures and perspectives, and develop independence and resilience. Boarding pupils are encouraged to make the most of school life – discovering new interests, exploring leadership opportunities and cultivating relationships with pupils and staff through a shared experience – the very things that make a British boarding education so memorable.
An exciting future beckons This is an exciting time for St George’s Ascot. As we look towards our 150th anniversary, we are proud to be part of St Albans Education Group and to be partnering with St George’s School Windsor Castle to create an exceptional through-school education for pupils aged three to eighteen.
From September 2027, St George’s Ascot will become co-educational in Years 7 (age 11) and 9 (age 13), a phased approach which will see us welcoming boys alongside girls as we broaden our senior school community. In 2028 this will develop further to incorporate Years 7– 10 (ages 11 to 14) and Lower Sixth (age 16), before becoming fully co-educational the following year.
We look forward to getting to know you As a consultant partner, we want you to be able to talk about St George’s with genuine confidence and enthusiasm. The best way to understand what makes our School distinctive is to experience it for yourself and I actively encourage you to come and meet our pupils, and get a feel for the warmth, vibrancy and sense of purpose that defines St George’s. There are many such opportunities throughout the year which you are welcome to join us for: from concerts and productions to open mornings and private familiarisation visits. We hope to welcome you soon. Hannah Fox | Head

ST GEORGE’S ASCOT
Working with the EAL team had a huge impact on my confidence, communication skills, and future academic journey.
The dedicated support didn’t just improve my fluency; it gave me the momentum needed to pursue an engineering degree and take a huge step forwards in my professional career.
I still remember going to the supermarkets on the High Street to buy daily essentials as a way to practise my English and build confidence communicating with local people. Those small experiences gradually made me feel much more comfortable living and studying in the UK.
The experience at St George’s gave me the confidence to pursue ambitious goals internationally, including later founding my own robotics company.

SGA Boarding – A sense of belonging We offer two very distinctive boarding houses: • Markham House – for ages 11–16 • Loveday House – for Sixth Form pupils aged 16–18 Both enjoy the benefits of being within our secure campus and enjoy the use of our facilities out of hours. Pupils can enjoy unwinding in our state of the art gym, swimming a few relaxing laps of our 6-lane pool, baking cookies in the Food Tech Lab, or taking a gentle walk around the beautiful and extensive grounds. Weekday evenings revolve around connection and activities are often themed around wellbeing, creativity, physical movement or friendly competition. Activities ensure those new to boarding are fully immersed in boarding life and feelings of nervousness, homesickness or shyness are overcome very quickly by fun, laughter and a sense of belonging.
Weekends offer an array of activities exploring Ascot and the local area, or venturing further afield to entertainment, shopping and cultural venues in Bracknell, Reading, Oxford and London. From watching a West-End show, to llama trekking, rollercoaster rides to ice-skating and everything in between! Each half term there is an Exeat weekend (6 weekends in total throughout the year) when pupils spend time with their guardians, families or friends off-site in addition to half-term holidays and end of term holidays. Exeat weekends are a great chance to explore more of the UK, and some boarders make arrangements with day pupil friends to spend the weekend with them. Or they could be a useful time for parents to come and visit. Exeats are compulsory for all long-term boarders, whereas those visiting as part of immersion programmes or short stays do not need to vacate their accommodation and activities will be arranged for them.
How will we support you? • We will make every international placement personal and support families every step of the way • We will get to know each child individually - their strengths, their ambitions, and their character • We will communicate at every stage and be a responsive partner • We will be honest about fit, potential and suitability • We will continue to feedback after arrival about all aspects of a child’s progress

Guardianship All boarding pupils require a guardian to be compliant with NMS boarding requirements. This should be an adult over the age of 25, not in full-time education and living within a few hours travel (by car) from the school. For boarders with Child Student Visas there are more specific requirements for guardianship, and we recommend that you familiarise yourself with this document that outlines the details. The best form of guardianship is an AEGIS registered guardian, but costs can vary so it is important that families factor this into their overall spend. The average charge per year is between £1,000 and 3,000.
• £776 per year Health Surcharge (to access NHS Healthcare while in the UK) • £25 for the CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) • [£500 priority processing - optional, if under time constraints] Total (e.g. a 2 year stay) = Approximately £2135
