I hope that you all enjoy reading through your yearbook and it will continue, in your later life, to happily remind you of this year in your life at St Georges International School.

As Board members we often visit school and enjoy looking around the display boards in the classrooms and the corridors at the work you as students have been producing; it is always very interesting and always at a very high standard.

I hope that you will continually strive to grasp the opportunities that you all have by attending an international school both in and outside the classroom. The different subjects that you study in the curriculum and the opportunity to learn with students from different cultures and nationalities is one that will be very valuable to you throughout your life.

To those of you who are returning in September, I hope that you have a good summer vacation and return ready to enjoy another year at our school.

To those who are moving on, I hope that you have enjoyed your time with us and that you enjoy your time at your next school.

Principal’s Introduction Interview with Dr Barkei

by the Primary School Council What was school like when you were a child and do you think it has changed for the better or worse?

I went to school in England and Australia and moved to Germany when I was 8. There was no international school, so I went to a normal school and had to learn German very quickly. The teachers were quite demanding, but were good. Now teachers are more friendly and flexible.

There is lots of new technology but you still need good teachers, who can tell a great story.

Was your journey to being a principal hard?

When I started my career, I wanted to teach History and be a really good teacher. I was happy to do more and take over things. I liked listening and solving problems. I need to be adaptable, flexible and pragmatic.

What is the best thing about your job?

I get to work with really smart people. I love dressing up in a dragon suit every year. I also like seeing what students are doing in their lessons.

What do you talk about in your meetings?

We talk about how students are doing. We plan ahead and organise things for next year.

What sort of person do you aspire to be?

I would be a History teacher. I’ve been a Principal in three schools but I would work as a History teacher if I wasn’t a Principal.

Do you think the new Zinnen building was worth it, by destroying the football pitch?

Yes and No. It was a shame, but we needed to do it. It is a wonderful new building and it will be great to see plays and musicals on the new stage. It will be green, blue, red and yellow and it will be open for 1st September 2016.

Apart from the new building, what will you do to improve the students’ experience next year?

We have 724 students in the school today so we are expanding the canteen. W There will be a bridge from the new building to the Barthel building. We will be re-building the playground and building a new basketball pitch, and we are always trying to make the food more attractive and as healthy as possible.

Head Teacher’s Introduction As I look through the yearbook and see the pictures of the children at work and play, I am struck by how much each child has achieved in a single year.

The variety of learning opportunities and wide range of work carried out across the school help to make the children of St George’s truly rounded individuals. Most importantly, they constantly demonstrate that they are nice people – caring and helpful, quick to welcome newcomers, and beautifully behaved. It is one of the things that makes St George’s so special.

This year has seen some great opportunities in the primary school. Our work with visiting maths experts encouraged all of the children to deepen their mathematical understanding and to apply their learning to new problems, and even devise their own problems, based on their mathematical concepts.

Book based learning in literacy has really taken off. From the Early Years to Y6 children are inspired by books, and using book language to weave their own stories.

We were pleased to invite author Mary Hoffman to participate in book week.

She gave us a great insight into how she wrote her books. I think we gave her some ideas for her next book too. We were also thrilled to participate in Skype conversations with Gillian Cross and Nicola Davies.

Over the year there have been strong opportunities to participate in interschool competitions, with teams participating in sporting, musical and academic events with other international schools. It has been a great opportunity for the children to make new friends and to visit new places.

Children have taken part in cultural and adventure trips in Luxembourg as well as further afield. This has helped to strengthen their knowledge of our host country as well as gaining an understanding of the language and traditions of our surrounding countries. We are always very proud of the way the children represent the school and get involved in the planned activities.

This year has also seen a fabulous contribution from our school council and house captains. They have taken their roles and responsibilities seriously and come up with some great ideas for the school. They helped to select the exciting new playground equipment and suggested benches to sit on in the playing fields. They were responsible for designing and marketing tea towels, for organising a school disco on movie nights to raise funds for the school, raising significant funds for their chosen charity as well as for school projects.

All in all 2016 has been an excellent year. We end in anticipation of the new term, with the opening of Zinnen building. The children are very much looking forward to see our amazing new amphitheater and classrooms for years 5&6.

25 Years of St George’s Over the past 25 years St George’s has gone from 12 students on the top floor of a small rented school building, to over 700 students representing over 50 countries in purpose-built accommodation in Hamm.

Entering a New Era

St George’s English School was founded in 1990 by Anthony Barlow and John Jackson.

The School was established to fulfill the needs of a British Primary education in Luxembourg. Initially the school was located in rented accommodation in Bonnevoie.

St George’s experienced rapid expansion over the first six years due to the School’s ability to cater for the varied needs of students between the ages of 2.5 and 11.

In September 1996 St George’s moved to Luxembourg-Cents and appointed a new Headteacher, Mr J.D. Boyce.

During the academic year 20002001 the School’s enrolment continued to grow rapidly. A major highlight of the 2003 school year was a visit from Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. He took the time to interact with the students and meet the staff.

St George’s had the privilege of meeting Princess Diana while she was visiting the St George’s stand at the ‘Britain in Luxembourg’ Exhibition.

St George’s flourished with over 60 students based in their own purpose-built school. In September 1999, St George’s appointed a new Headteacher, Mr Barry Dixon. The School also had the honour of a royal visit - Princess Anne and Crown Princess Maria Theresa.

A Vibrant, International Community St George’s appointed its first Principal, Dr Christian Barkei, in September 2013.

In 2014, after 13 years of dedication and hard work, Head Teacher of Primary, Heather Duxbury retired. In July 2015 construction commenced for the new ‘Zinnen’ building project which will be situated on the school site. ‘’This past year was characterised by a number of milestones - more students than ever were enrolled; we introduced an amended school day and timetable and also a new website and newsletter...We believe at St George’s that learning should be accessible to everyone, with every student able to achieve their full potential within an environment that is positive and supportive.’’

e years the demand to to the Secondary cycle of continued to increase. From er 2006 St George’s offered the opportunity of studying GCSE programme. Between 2005 the student population from 122 students to 229 This prompted the decision o a single campus in Hamm.

’13 and Beyond... ’08 - ’12 A Turning Point Emerging as the St George’s campus we all know today, the new location in Hamm opened its doors to 379 students and 58 members of staff with the completion of the Hamilius building in 2008. The Lentz building opened in 2009.

In 2011 the construction of the Barthel Building was completed, providing spacious, well-equipped laboratories and classrooms that further enhanced the learning experience for students.

Early Years This year in Early Years has been full of all sorts of different fun and activities. Learning is taking place up and down the corridor, exploring all the different classrooms, and playing indoors and outdoors whatever the weather.

During our first term we learned about ourselves and each other, making strong friendships to last the year, and learning about our families, where we come from and moving on to talk about clothes and eventually the run up for Christmas and preparing for the show!

After the winter break we thought about transport in our lives and our experiences outside of school, talking about how we travel around the world, and how we move our bodies. We moved on to patterns, finding different ways to be creative and exploring with sounds, movements, lights and finding spots, stripes and zig-zags in our environment.

In our final term we have explored plants, taking every opportunity to dig, plant and watch things grow in the garden where we have grown flowers and vegetables throughout the year. Finally we have explored changes – in the weather, in ourselves and changes in our lives.

Throughout the year we have explored outside of the corridor, making sandwiches and pizza in cooking, singing songs and making rhythms in music, climbing and catching in the gym and appreciating different books and stories in the library.

As we progressed throughout the year we have developed our understanding of the world, made friends and created many wonderful memories to help us secure an even better foundation for next year and beyond.

Reception

As always, we have had a busy and fun filled year in Reception.

Concentrating on our three Prime Areas of Lear ning; Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language, we have made new friends, explored our surroundings and lear ned many new things together.

Our Specific Areas of Lear ning are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design and we are sure you will have enjoyed seeing the fruits of the children’s labours in these areas. The children have developed their phonics and counting skills and explored the world around them through topic work.

Not surprisingly, Book Week proved to be a highlight of the year for many. The children especially enjoyed the opportunity to share their favourite books with their older friends, have parents come to read and make a wide and varied selection of books of their own.

Our trip to Auchan, during our topic on shopping, gave the children the opportunity to use their knowledge, skills and understanding in a more practical manner outside of the classroom. They were able to plan their own picnic, decide what they would buy, write their own shopping lists and search Auchan for their choices. We are grateful to those parents who gave up their time to make our outing possible.

Swimming has also been an adventure for the children as they have travelled on buses and lear ned, not only to enjoy their time in the pool, but also to take care of their own things as they have independently organised themselves to enter the pool and to get ready to retur n to school afterwards – usually very tired.

Gym, too has provided the chance for the children to develop their fine and gross motor coordination as they have enjoyed a range of fun, interesting and challenging activities. The children are eagerly awaiting the chance to share their new skills as they participate in our upcoming EYFS Sports Day. Throughout the year the children have been enthusiastic participants in our many and varied activities and as they move towards their exciting new challenges in Year 1, the Reception Staff wish them well.

Year

What a fun year this has been! We have learned lots and had fun along the way. Here are some of our best memories.

Ahoy there! Dressed for the part, we embarked on a fun-filled day of pirate activities, including hunting for buried treasure, making our own treasure maps and writing pirate adventure stories.

We put on a jolly good show in our winter performance, “Scarecrow’s Christmas”.

Our costumes, makeup and fantastic acting skills transported us to the magical world of a kind scarecrow who helped his friends.

We enjoyed a performance in French by the theatre troupe, 3 Chardons. They showcased their performance, Tchico, which told the story of a small boy who met different animals on an amazing adventure. C’était très bon !

At our Movie Night, we snacked on popcorn and joined in with the laughs during a showing of Big Hero 6 which was organised by our wonderful School Council.

We were lucky to invite author Mary Hoffman to our school – author of Amazing Grace. We listened to her tell us one of her Grace stories and asked questions about her life as a successful writer. We wrote and illustrated our own stories following our own inspiration of Book Week. We also welcomed some of our parents to our classes to share lovely stories with us and talk about them afterwards.

When the Natur Mobil came rolling into school, we had fun learning about the life cycle of frogs – we even had the chance to hold some friendly newts and frogs! We saw them snack on insects and leap across the bench. Some of us even got to give them a shower with a special water bottle to keep their skin wet!

Our trip to Jardin des Papillons gave us the chance to bring to life what we have been learning in our IPC topic, Flowers and Insects. We saw real cocoons, beautiful butterflies emerging from their cocoons, butterflies feeding on fruits and fluttering around their greenhouse-like home. The guided tour gave us even more information and we asked lots of questions to find out more.

As we race towards the Year 1 finish line, we look forward to Sports Day where we will demonstrate our resilience and team spirit whilst competing in races and other exciting sports activities. We are only a short sprint away from Year 2!

Year

Year 2 has been a jam-packed year so far, with the children growing in both ability and maturity over the school year.

The children started the year still on their travels ‘From A to B’, looking at how they and other children around the world travel to school. They also learnt about how people travelled in the past, including their own family members!

‘Push Me! Pull You!’ introduced the classes to the use of forces and how everything is affected by them.

They conducted experiments to predict the effects of air resistance, as well as using different surfaces and heights to test the speed of toy cars when a variable was changed.

To bring the Autumn Term to a close, the children performed ‘The Lost Kitten’ in two separate performances. With animals galore helping our two poor Mabels to find their missing kitten, stunning singing and some beautiful dancing and movement from the cast – it really was an exciting extravaganza!

Spring Term allowed the children to develop their own style of story-telling through the picture book ‘Journey’. All the classes were able to engage in role-play, creating musical pieces and writing their own versions of what they thought the characters might be saying. This use of their different senses was also touched upon during the IPC topic ‘Sensational’.

The Summer Term has been a turning point for many of the children and this has been reflected in their responses during lessons and in the content of their work. Through their study of ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’ and the topic ‘The Stories People Tell’, they are learning about myths and legends in other countries. This will stand them in good stead for their forthcoming trip to the Musée d’Histoire, where they will learn about the Luxembourgish legend of Melusina.

It has truly been a pleasure to teach the children of Year 2, and we know that they will continue to work hard and progress in leaps and bounds as they move up to Key Stage 2. We wish them all the best of luck!

Year

Year 3 began the year with a giant leap into the past with our topic ‘Footprints from the Past’. Visiting the Dinosaur Park was a definite highlight of the year! We learnt, as palaeontologists, about the different periods in the Mesozoic Era, including which dinosaurs existed and their ultimate demise at the end of the Cretaceous Period. During this topic, all the Year 3 classes collaborated on and performed ‘Dumble the Dinosaur’, which proved to be a success with both the children and their parents.

There was a definite bright spark to our Christmas topic. The children put all their electrical knowledge to use while investigating how to use circuits to light up decorations.

Year 3 have benefitted greatly from the wide range of guest speakers that visited our classrooms. We have met a palaeontologist, geologist, dairy farmer, authors and chocolate experts to name a few. This helped bring our learning to life!

We have been carried away on adventures with Lulu, Mog, Grace and Oliver through our ‘Book Based Learning’ in English. The stories have really captured our imaginations and inspired our writing. We worked very hard writing and producing our own Grace adventures.

Year 3 still have plenty to look forward to before the end of the academic year, such as Sports Day, Enterprise Week and the eagerly awaited residential trip to Chevetogne in Belgium.

We would like to thank the children for working so hard and making it such an enjoyable year. It is true what they say that time really does fly when you are having fun! We will be sad to see the students leave, and wish them all the best in their forthcoming challenges and adventures in Year 4.

Year

Starting with the villas of Ancient Rome and Greece and finishing with the foxholes and bunkers of the Battle of the Bulge, it’s been an incredible journey of learning and excitement for Year 5 students. Alongside their engaging history topics, they explored the changing climate of today’s world and got fascinated by fossil fuels and alternative energy sources. These intrepid youngsters learned about importing and exporting goods around the world and, after a study of banana farms in developing economies, were quick to pester their parents to start buying Fair Trade food products! We, their teachers, were so proud of our young global citizens.

In addition to their ethical awareness, Year 5 children also demonstrated their respect and empathy in visits to Luxembourg’s World War II Museum and battle sites in the Ardennes, culminating in a trip to the American Military Cemetery. In an impromptu gesture, some children picked flowers to lay on graves, while others carefully applied sand from the beaches of Normandy to the engravings to highlight the names of the soldiers. “I found ten graves of soldiers who had the same name as me,” confided one child, moved by the experience.

But it wasn’t all hard work! The children had a blast on their residential trip and it is safe to say that Domaine de Mozet in the tranquil Belgian countryside didn’t know what hit it when Y5 students descended en masse for a week of pond-dipping, insect studies, cabin making, medieval cooking and bee-keeping. The forest and fields ricocheted with shouts of surprise and enjoyment. Speaking of noise, we won’t mention the disco they had…

If there is one thing we teachers know for sure, it’s that this up-coming generation (the future leaders of our world) sure do know how to have fun!

In October, Year 6 enjoyed a day of canoeing, kayaking and geocaching at Base Nautique, Lultzhausen. Here we had fun working together in canoes to try and locate specific points on the reservoir using GPS devices. We also liked the kayaking activity, where we lined up our individual boats in the water, to run across them! This trip linked with our book-based learning in English, ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’, by Michael Morpurgo. It was great!

Whilst studying a range of books throughout the year, both fiction and non-fiction, we have been lucky enough to meet and speak with hugely popular authors. Year 6 have had online Skype meetings with Nicola Davies (who wrote ‘The Promise’ – another exciting English book that we explored) and Gillian Cross (author of ‘The Demon Headmaster’, who spoke with us to celebrate Book Week). In addition to this, we met author Mary Hoffman, who visited St George’s in March. She showed us books from her ‘Stravaganza’ series, which she wrote after being inspired from a family visit to Venice.

In our ballroom dancing sessions, we learnt the cha-cha and the waltz. It was great to work with Secondary students, who taught us the routines and helped us to perfect our dance moves. This was a great experience for all and we discovered many talented dancers!

This year, we also had a Science Day, where we carried out three different experiments. We had to work on applying our understanding of forces to build and float a model boat, use cells and circuit wires to light several lightbulbs and we extracted DNA from a strawberry. It was all very exciting!

St George’s Day was a grand celebration this year. It was extra special as we also marked the School’s 25th birthday! Year 6 invited children in year 1 to work with them to create dragon artwork. Year 6 led the activity, giving instructions to our visitors and helping them to make awesome dragons from story-telling! This was a great success and we all had lots of fun!

In April, the Natur Mobil visited school, which was fantastic! We looked at pond life in Luxembourg and found out how our local amphibians live and breathe. We saw real life tadpoles, newts, frogs and toads – with some of us being brave enough to hold them!

Our residential trip to Dinant was super! We enjoyed many outdoor pursuits, including crosscountry cycling and kayaking. Many of us took the challenge of walking across the biggest rope bridge in Belgium, which is suspended over 60 metres above the River Meuse! This definitely brought out the adventurous and courageous side in all of us! During our visit to the Citadel of Dinant, we were lucky enough to see the extensive views on a lovely sunny day, where we learnt all about the local history. This was followed by a wonderful river cruise on a barge.

Many of our Year 6 students have represented the school in several international competitions. Maths Quest was held in Barcelona this year, where St George’s placed sixth out of twenty three schools! The school choir also visited Brussels in the summer and some children also took part in a general knowledge quiz in Belgium too. Well done to our students who showed off their sporting talents in the London Games in May. We’ve been lucky enough to experience a range of activities out of school, but we have also had lots of fun in the classroom too. All children have been keen learners, using their enquiry and resilience skills to work hard to reach their personal targets. They have produced some outstanding work across all subjects and have had a mature approach to their learning. We have also seen terrific homework projects this year, from family trees to audiobooks, time capsules and models showing our wonderful world. It has been a pleasure working with such a hard working year group. They will be missed by all, but we wish them every success for the future.

Art exhibition

The

Annual Art Exhibition features artwork from all of the students at St George’s.

The artwork on display throughout the exhibition varies from traditional pictorial representations, 3D models made from different materials to projects that convey and explore different expressions, processes, techniques and materials.

Work that stood out from Primary students this year included Year 4’s glossy clay penguins and the Tin Forest display. The Wigwam-style tree, which won first prize in the Belle Etoile Christmas tree competition, took pride of place in the centre of the room.

St George’s holds an Art Exhibition every year, with distinguished guests invited from the wider Luxembourg community along with members of staff, parents and students.

The annual art exhibition was held in May this year and featured art work from all the pupils in the school. We believe that learning should be accessible to everyone, with every child able to find the tools and opportunities they need to achieve their full potential within an environment that is fun and supportive. This philosophy is at the heart of everything that we do.

Learning Across the Curriculum

The LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) club has made wonderful progress in its second year. The club welcomes children from years 1-10. It is run by Dramaworks and students are entered for performance-based exams. In the first set of exams this year 41 students were entered and 97.5 per cent attained distinctions and merits.

Students from Early Years to Year 6 are able to benefit from two impressively resourced libraries. Students can read, listen to stories and choose books to take home from their library sessions. They are given the opportunity to offer suggestions of books they would like to see in the library and it is kept up to date with most recent publications.

Book Week this year was a great success with a visit from Mary Hoffman, author of ‘Amazing Grace’. The children took great delight in showing her the classwork they had done inspired by her books. Years 5 and 6 were treated to a Skype call with Gillian Cross, author of ‘The Demon Headmaster’. They had lots of questions after having read the story in the library.

Maths Quest

Maths Quest is a prestigious international Maths competition endorsed by ECIS, in which teams of children from various international schools come together and compete in a friendly environment. The main purpose of this competition is to challenge talented Maths students while celebrating and promoting the joy of learning Mathematics within our learning communities.

This year’s 19th annual competition was held at Europa International School, Barcelona. We all had a fantastic time and placed 6th overall. An amazing result from Tomas, Macarena, Leonardo and Inês.

16 Year 5 and 6 students travelled to London in May to take part in a friendly sports competition against Henry Fawcett Primary School. The events were football, rounders and athletics.

The St George’s team played really well, showed great sportsmanship and made new friends.

St George’s won the football cup and the athletics competition and so won the overall competition trophy. The team also had a celebratory dinner with the Henry Fawcett students and went to see the show ‘Wicked’ with them on the last evening. On the last day the team had a chance to do a bit of sight-seeing, taking in Horse Guards Parade, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square, before flying back to Luxembourg.

This year School Council worked on various ideas that represented the students in Primary, such as role model dress up day, a suggestion from the wider school where they managed to raise 450â‚Ź for charity and the council fund.

Community Projects

Christmas Tree Competition Students from Year 3 created an amazing Textile Tree for the Belle Etoile Christmas Tree Competition. The children started by wrapping willow branches in strips of old fabric.

These branches formed a wig-wam shape over the tree. Some children then decorated the tree with brightly coloured weavings on CDs and sewn butterflies and birds. Happily for St Georges, it was voted as the winning tree.

Gifts for Kids Every year the children from Primary assist the American Women’s Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) in creating approximately 600 Christmas cards. These cards accompany gifts, which are delivered to less fortunate children living in Luxembourg, by the AWCL project ‘Gifts for Kids’. Working as a team, the children realise how lucky they are and use the opportunity to show empathy and kindness to other children.

Year 6 Christmas Fayre This year, Year 6 held a fundraiser for charity to help children suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses. The charity was Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner in Luxembourg.

We got together all of our old toys, books and games and put them on sale. We arranged stalls for different types of toys including books, makeup, houseware, trains, cars, stuffed animals and plenty more! There were two cashiers at the door and every toy was €1 each.

Every year group visited the fayre and helped to raise lots of money. All of Year 6, and the school of course, would like to say thank you to everyone who donated gifts to sell.

Relais pour la Vie 2016 We had another great show of support from staff in Administration, Primary and Secondary to make up two St George’s teams at the event. We walked or ran for our allotted hour on the track and made a commitment to fundraising for this very worthwhile cause. In school we held some extremely successful cake sales and were trampled by eager staff and students each time! We also had great fun guessing which baby photo was which member of the Secondary team in school. There were many surprises when the results were published! Many thanks to all those who participated in any way, and thank you to everyone who guessed the baby or donated cakes and cookies for us to raise extra money.

We paid 400 euro to enter the teams and raised more than 1,000 euro in additional fundraising. Hopefully we will field teams again next year and continue to support this great event. Each team were awarded a glass star in recognition of their efforts.

Singing in Place d’Armes Year 4 travelled to the Place d’Armes to sing at the Christmas market. There was a big stage for us to sing on. We sang 6 songs: Just Another Star, Oh Tannenbaum (Oh Christmas Tree,) Jingle Bell Rock, Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Merry Christmas, We Wish You a Very Merry Good Christmas. All of our Year 4 students had a blast and we did pretty well, judging by the applause! All of the Year 4 students would like to give a big Thank You to all the teachers who helped us!!!

Singing for the Elderly Year 4 spread holiday cheer while singing at the Hospice Home in Hamm. We ventured into the cold and walked the short distance to the centre where we joined our school choir and took turns singing to a very large and supportive audience. It was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity for us to connect with our local community.

Summer Fayre

A whole school Summer Fayre was organised by the ‘Friends of St George’s’, students and staff in cooperation with the Secondary School Parliament and Primary School Council. Together they organised stalls and games along with lavish international food stands, old favourite carnival activities, bouncy castles, ice cream stands, performances and lots of food and drink all in the name of good fun, community spirit and fundraising.

The two charities being supported were Unity Foundation and United World School.

The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr Mark Turner, kindly agreed to open the Summer Fayre, a poignant moment as it was his last official act at St George’s before he stepping down as Chair.

It was a delightful event; students in Years 3 to 6 sang beautifully, Indian dancers put on a dazzling show, Year 8 students demonstrated their musical talent, Year 7 students put on an entertaining drama sketch and so, so much more.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who gave up their time both in preparation for the Fayre and on the day itself, to make this such an amazingly successful event.

Friends of St George’s

The Friends of St George’s group exists as a subsidiary of St George’s International School Luxembourg ASBL and therefore all events are coordinated through these channels. Functionally the group has a core committee, who have already evolved from within the parent ranks, and they are encouraged to delegate to sub-groups to organise special events such as International Dinners, the Summer Fayre, quiz nights, Freshers & Followers and socio-cultural events as well as assisting with gala events during the school year as appropriate. The group helps to raise funds for charitable causes liaising with the school, the School Student Council and Parliament.

With over 50 nationalities represented at the School, those contributing seasonal food at the International Winter Wonderland Dinner in December 2015 provided a sumptuous celebration feast with carol singing in a winter wonderland setting (the canteen was decorated beautifully).

The ‘Friends’ arrange regular coffee mornings for newcomers to the school to allow them to meet new people. They also arrange cultural visits within the region; such as a guided visit to a Roman villa; a trip to Mettlach to visit Villeroy and Boch; a history tour of the city of Luxembourg; Japanese cookery experience; walking and so on.
