LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Dear Friends and Neighbors, As we welcome the fall and winter seasons at St. Francis Community Center, we look forward to a time of renewed connection, wellness, and community engagement. After the energy and excitement of another busy summer on Long Beach Island, the cooler months offer an opportunity to slow down, enjoy the crisp coastal air, and take advantage of the many programs and activities that make our Community Center a vibrant gathering place year-round. One of the highlights of the season is the much-anticipated LBI Commemorative 18-Mile Run and 12K Run/Walk, a tradition that brings together participants from across the region. Interest in this signature event continues to grow each year, and we anticipate both races reaching capacity before the end of August. We encourage anyone planning to participate or volunteer to register early and join us for this memorable celebration of fitness, perseverance, and community spirit. This season also brings several exciting new offerings to our Aquatics and Recreation Department. We are pleased to introduce Pilates, Pickleball Lessons, and Aqua Fit, providing even more opportunities for residents and visitors to stay active and healthy throughout the colder months. In addition, following an outstanding spring season, our Men's Basketball League will return, offering a fun and competitive outlet for players of all skill levels. We are especially proud to launch two new Inclusive Recreation Programs: Mavericks for youth and Legends for adults. These programs provide an adaptive, supportive environment where participants can build confidence, develop skills, and enjoy games, fitness, and social connections in a welcoming setting. The Community Center continues to grow because of the ideas and support of those we serve. If there are programs or activities you would like to see offered in the future, please reach out to our Aquatics and Recreation Department or feel free to contact me directly at any time. I look forward to seeing you at the Community Center this fall and winter and wish you a wonderful season ahead. Kevin Walsh Executive Director St. Francis Community Center
