Chalk It Up to Charity Turning the Page Turning the Page is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the education of public school students by encouraging communication and participation by their parents and families. The organization connects parents of Chicago's North Lawndale community with at-home learning resources and activities, assisting parents in building relationships with other parents and teachers. In addition, it provides students with leadership and advocacy opportunities to improve their communities.

Kan-Win Kan-Win, "Korean American Women in Need," is dedicated to eradicating all forms of violence against women, especially, but not limited to, those in the Asian-American community. The organization empowers survivors and engages the community through community education, outreach and advocacy. Their efforts include a multilingual 24-hour hotline, legal advocacy and transitional housing-all of which are free and confidential.

K.I.D.S.S. for Kids K.I.D.S.S (Kindness Is Doing Something Special) for Kids, works to donate to the Department of Family Services program at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. The organization offers emotional and social support for hospitalized children and their families. Their programs include art therapy, tutoring, medical procedures and bereavement counseling.

“One the most beautiful things I noticed here is the feeling of collective success. I see that the individual students are striving to do their best, but at the same time I see a social nurturing.

Stevenson has the same sense and atmosphere of learning which reminded me of the school life in India. Back in India, the boarding school I taught at did not have counselors, so the teacher had to be everything for the student. Here, I really wanted to work with students closer and establish a better connection with students.”

I appreciate the natural flow in the office and into the hallways because it encourages people to interact and collaborate.”

“Being a part of this community is a once in a lifetime experience. There’s a saying, 'people end their careers at Stevenson as opposed to starting them here.' I know how blessed I am to be working at such a great school, especially so early in my career. As a teacher, you want to work here because the kids are so motivated and excited to learn. There's really no better place to teach. I pinch myself sometimes as a reminder that this is all real. I hope to be here for the next 30+ years if they'll have me."

Wood Commons Mural

The Wood Commons is home to many artistic works, including a long, painted mural showcasing a variety of different languages and cultures.

Patriot Painting This painting of a Stevenson patriot is hard to find! It’s located in the back of the Wood Commons, next to the kitchen.

The colorful, fun painting of Albert Einstein is located in the Forum. It is very well-known to many students at Stevenson!

Rumor has it that if you step on the Patriot outside room 2104, you’ll fail your next test...

The skeleton that resides in the dance studio is a little bit unnerving, but it is often used by the dance teachers to demonstrate different bones dancers utilize.

Ron the Hot Tub Rooftop solar panels are located on the roof of the new addition, where they will generate all necessary electricity. The roof is also home to a greenhouse which will be used by science, arts, food and special education classes.

Gender-Neutral Bathrooms

Some of Stevenson’s designated gender-neutral bathrooms are located in the 7000s hallway.

Stevenson Foundation Wall

The wall can be found outside the Performing Arts Center. The Stevenson Foundation’s mission is Connecting Community and School -since 1993, they have provided nearly $2 million in educational grants for students in need.

Affectionately nicknamed Ron Atlas by Stevenson Swimming & Diving, the hot tub is located by the pool.

The Transition House is located just past the varsity baseball fields. It aims to increase the independence of Stevenson graduates with disabilities aged 18-22 through vocational and life skills development. It underwent a $681,000 renovation this summer.

Stevenson’s $28 million expansion opens the new school year

During classes, these study spaces remain empty. However, they are available to students in the commons areas when classes are not in session.

A figure eight of paving stones decorates the new courtyard. Students can sit outside on the benches when weather permits.

On the outside of one side of the building, horizontal panels frame the glass wall. People on opposite sides of the building can see each other through the glass.

A view of the rooftop garden in the new edition can be seen through the three glass walls on the top floor of the building. Classes will visit the space to learn about gardening.
