Hi Australia, We’ve had an incredible year filled with many achievements. This year should be remembered as the one where we turned it all around. Our Australian business has an incredible story to tell.
We have tripled our sized since 2022, added 3,200 new people to the business, our people are achieving all-time personal bests and our bottom line is healthy once more with both corporate and leisure well and truly back in the black. Our customers are taking off in droves to experience the wonders of the world.
One of my proudest moments from this year was accepting the award for Australia’s Best National Travel Agency Group on behalf of everyone in Australia at the NTIA awards in Sydney. This award is an acknowledgement of all the hard work you have done over the past 12 months.
Our beloved travel industry has been through it all, and some of our people have been with us through these times too. Collectively, we’ve weathered global financial crisis’, wars, pandemics, natural disasters and more. The stories we share from our 40+ years of experience make us the successful company we are today. We’ve ‘been there, done that' and serviced our customers with steadfast resilience through all of it. So, on behalf of the Board, Taskforce and our Australian Leaders, I would like to thank all of our 2022/2023 longevity recipients for your service. The experience you bring to our business is what sets us apart from the rest.
I’d also like to congratulate our Australian Award winners for 2023. Your leaders have recognised the outstanding contributions you’ve made to your business areas, and I want to personally thank you for the part you’ve played in FCTG’s success this year
I’m so excited to see what we achieve as we head into another year with the momentum and progress we have built up over this past 12 months. For now though, it’s time to celebrate! I can’t wait for all of Australia to come together at Flichella this weekend, and to celebrate with our high achievers at Global Gathering in Bali soon after
all about balance

So much goes into maintaining and retaining a large database of corporate customers let alone bidding for some of the biggest new accounts the industry has to offer but that's just what FCM do with gusto. They made some big moves this year that have paid off in spades! Here's just a couple of their highlights:
New Customer Wins $287.2M - Wesfarmers, Woolworths, Coles, Australia Red Cross, University Procurement Hub (Monash University, University of Sydney, University of NSW)
Delivering a great customer experience with an NPS Score of 26. 98% retention of customers and getting all the love from new customers too! For example, Shell, who joined us in Nov 2022 participated in a global traveller survey, with a 92% satisfaction rating and Australia lead the charge with the highest traveller satisfaction globally!
Almost $1M in Project Income for FCM Consulting (a new record highest previous was $750K)

It's gotta be the come back story of the century!
A brand completely shut down because of that pandemic, afterall who needed foreign currency when you couldn't travel overseas! But that didn't stop the team at Travel Money OZ, who throughout 2020/21/22 basically survived on a team of 3 people...how times have changed...
They're now 75 stores strong with more on the horizon
They've re-opened in New Zealand
Were a major sponsor for Aussie TV favourite - Travel Guides
They're targeting 200 staff members with at least half of those coming from our Alumni group
And in just a short time of having reopened will hit $9M profit!
They've also been voted the brand most likely to:
Send someone to jail!
Hopefully not in Bali...
It was a massive year for FCB having reopened all 28 hibernated stores and a triumphant return to local communities where they can once again open up the world for those who want to see! This included bringing on 300 new team members and reinstating the FTL role but they didn't stop there
Deployed a new wage model - it's a clear, simple model that rewards our consultants to sell more travel, add more components and deliver amazing customer experiences Introduced Centralised Pricing - this produced more than $80m in additional revenue whilst also enabling us to deliver a consistent customer experience. They also brought back ¼ buzz nights, brought back 4 Nations & Nation Leaders, had 100's of famils all over the world, engaged in localised charity activities, booked more than 1.5m customers trips, reintroduced Leadership Training and had a huge focus on Brightness of Future (BOF) for their people.

It was a busy year for FCBT as they made the transition from Corporate back to Leisure (we're calling that Facebook Official) and with that creating the new and exciting Specialists Pillar that now houses, FCBT, First and Business, Complex Air, Groups and Corporate Benefits
They are proud to be a pillar that creates BOF for their consultants who have a passion in these areas whilst creating an amazing customer experience through expertise.
We ask General Manager, Cameron Harris what has was most proud of:
"The amazing work from all our people. The great feedback from customers, suppliers and colleagues through one of the toughest years is a real testament to their brilliance. Surviving the 'Sugar Rush' of travel and entering 2024 with an even stronger business model".

Ignite will do just shy of $450M in sales and close to $10M in profit this year! That's a record for the almost 240 strong team with an upturn in sales equal to about 140%. Who would have thought that Cruise would be a top seller despite the Covid rampage on ships. This year is a testament to the team and the resilience of the travel industry.
Rumour has it, due to their huge growth, they're moving into a second, new office that has a pulpit for leadership sermons, a whiskey bar hidden behind an old bank vault door and, possibly for the first time in their history, natural light streaming in through windows! We can't wait to be invited down for a Buzz Night!

Going from strength to strength, it was a big year for our Independent Network In their first year as entrants, they were finalists in multiple categories at the NTIA Awards and expanded their business to include 400+ agencies across the network.
When asked what he was most proud of, General Manager Nick Queale said:
Our people - Our beautiful team comprises forward-thinking, solution-centred, dedicated, hard-working and smart people. We are our people and would be nothing without this stunning team.
Our growth - Our team has achieved great things. We have and will continue to achieve strong, sustainable, and profitable growth across our business.
Our people - Did I mention our people? They are truly amazing.

We also hear a certain brand is celebrating a milestone birthday this year...
In 2023, Back-Roads Touring is poised to surpass all previous records, experiencing its most successful year in sales to date This was accompanied by the fact that we were able to guarantee every departure during the European season of 2023. We commend the product, marketing, call centre, and sales teams for their remarkable efforts in reaching this significant milestone
Over at Topdeck everyone has been focused on educating and delivering on the four distinctive trip styles available across the portfolio. If you wanted a Topdeck trip of more than 28 days, you would struggle to find a seat which speaks volumes to the product and the rebound of the youth category. For the young ones in the room “stay plugged in” and for the oldies “stay tuned” for more Topdeck excitement.

2013, Can you believe it was 10 years ago?! Proving wrong one of the biggest urbans myths of the 2010’s, the world didn’t end in 2012 and we actually made it to a new year.
In this year, social media really started to dominate our lives. As a result, the words “twerk”, and “selfie” were officially added to the dictionary (maybe we can get the Skroofie added next…)
Over in the EU, we welcomed Pope Francis I and celebrated the birth of second heir to the throne, Prince George. We also welcomed the heir to America’s royal family, as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West gave birth to their first daughter, North.
In other world news, the Boston Marathon Bombings devastated everyone, as did the death of Former South African President and Leader of the Anti-Apartheid Movement, Nelson Mandela.
2013 saw FCL become Flight Centre Travel Group to reflect the company’s transformation from its traditional roots as a travel agent to a world-class retailer of corporate and leisure travel products.
We were sitting at 2,481 shops globally with 15,900 people worldwide. We finished the year on $14.3B TTV and $349m in profit globally. The share price was $39.33 and Global Gathering took place in Cancun, Mexico where we celebrated the Rise of the Sun Warriors.

Many will remember 2008 as the year of the Global Financial Crisis, but despite the economy taking a hit, it felt like the world was healing in another way. Barack Obama won the US presidential election and became the country’s first black president, and down under, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivered a formal apology to members of the Stolen Generation.
In pop culture news, Twilight mania sank its teeth deep and our very own Heath Ledger sadly passed away. Beyonce and Jay-Z tied the knot and Britney puts down the umbrella and stages a comeback with the album Circus.
We certainly felt the hit of the GFC, however there were also many milestones reached The Flight Centre Foundation was established, our first FC Hyperstore opened in London, Flight Centre rebranded to “unbeatable”, we acquired Liberty Travel and GoGo Vacations, entered Joint Ventures with Intrepid, Back Roads, 99 Bikes, Advanced Traders and Employment office
Aloha! Global Gathering this year took place in Hawaii.
We had 1,950 shops, 13,000 people, ended the FY on $10.96 TTV and $212 profit. The share price was $17 60

Three years into the naughties, 2003 certainly timestamps as one of the most iconic years of the Y2K era.
Beyonce’s first solo album, Dangerously in Love, topped the Billboard charts while 50 Cent’s single “In Da Club” was Billboard Song of the Year. Britney Spears (yes, again) was at her peak, as she became the youngest singer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at age 21 and Apple launches iTunes which becomes a major success selling 10 million songs within 4 months of launch!
In other world news, in March, U.S. forces invaded Iraq in an attempt to end the dictatorial rule of Saddam Hussein, and thus started the Iraq War. While one political war broke out, we were also on the verge of an outbreak, and the World Health Organisation declared SARS a Global Health Emergency. Seems like a walk in the park now!
We acquired Brittanic Travel, which we now know as FCM UK. We also launched cievents as a rebrand of CIM and CIS and bought back Top Deck. Jackpot! Global Gathering took to Vegas for the first time and would quickly become our spiritual home.
We end the year with 1054 shops, 5829 people, $4.6b TTV and $102m profit and the share price is $21.45.

In 1998 the world changed when Google was founded and completely transformed the way we’d work forever. Over in the White House, Bill Clinton famously denied he had “sexual relations” with Monica Lewinsky, which opened a can of worms that was the Lewinsky scandal and investigations. In pop culture news, Titanic swept the Oscars and with the film’s success, Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” triumphed on the hot 100 charts.
At Flight Centre we hit a huge milestone for our luxury business as we opened our first Travel Associates shop in Melbourne. We also bolstered our global customer service offering, opening our 24-hour Worldwide Customer Care centre in Brisbane. We took Global Gathering out of Australia for the first time ever and celebrated in Hong Kong. The numbers - we are 364 shops, 2110 people, $1 5b TTV and $28m Profit The share price is $2.90.

Bill Clinton was inaugurated as the 42nd U.S. President, the World Wide Web was born, Czechoslovakia officially split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the artist “Prince” changed his name to a symbol and Sleepless in Seattle was dominating the box office!
In 1993 Flight Centre opened its first Great Holiday Escapes in Townsville (which would become known as Escape Travel). Flight Centre Corporate started in Melbourne (which we now know as Corporate Traveller) and we entered a JV with Infinity Travel. Global Gathering was in Sydney. We had 135 shops, 675 people and profit of approx. $6.2M.
When most of us think about 35 years ago, we think of the 70's. Sorry to say it's actually the late 80's - a bloody long time ago!
This year, Brisbane hosted World Expo 88, putting the river city (and the home of our Global HQ) firmly on the world map for the first time ever. Over in the UK, Margaret Thatcher became the longest-serving Prime Minister of the 20th Century. The Soviet War with Afghanistan ended after a long 8 years, and a dozen eggs cost 65c.
On the radio? Faith by George Michael, INXS’
Need you Tonight and Orinoco Flow by Enya were on high rotation on every Sony Walkman around the world.
6 years into operation, 1988 was a big year for Flight Centre. It was the year that our now famous captain first appeared in our ads, it was the year we introduced “lowest airfares guaranteed” as a slogan (fun fact, enquiry quadrupled after the slogan’s first trial on TVCs and press ads!), and our second EVER Global Gathering was in Melbourne (who would have thought some of the places we’d travel to!) And urban legend but did Skroo invent the Shoey?
We're about 345 people across 63 stores and cracked $647K profit.

We know that a career doesn't always take one path and everyone's experience is difference. That's why, this year, we're also celebrating experience. This way, we can celebrate all of our people!
Whether your career started in another country, you found yourself taking an extended break from the business and even a moment in time where most of us were separated from our roles, we want to acknowledge your contribution to FCTG.
We can even accept that some of you sought greener pastures knowing full well you would always be welcomed back with open arms.
The following pages are dedicated to those people, and we are so thankful you ' re all here!

Our Innovate RAP has 15 different actions with 58 deliverable outcomes and we’ve made good inroads since starting in February last year.
This financial year, we have successfully: Created a RAP working group and a Yarning Circle for First Nations people Employed our first, First Nations Inclusion Leader Held cultural awareness training for numerous leadership teams
Encouraged our stores to feature ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ signage
Come As You Are is FCTG's Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) program and this year we celebrated so many of our people and their uniqueness.
Who you are and how you identify is as colourful as a rainbow and we don’t want anyone feeling blue about who they are.
At Flight Centre Travel Group, there is no ‘us’ and ‘them’...we encourage everyone to come as you are, and we’ll come together as one. This is our one best way forward. Be proud...we're proud of you.
