E’ con molto piacere che il Comune di Valdidentro, in Alta Valtellina, ospita la IV° edizione della Masterclass, legata al Festival di musica classica “LeAltreNote”. Nel cuore del Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio, a pochi passi dalle sorgenti di acqua termale dei Bagni di Bormio, in un contesto ambientale di straordinaria bellezza, viene proposto il suggestivo legame tra musica, studio e natura. I giovani allievi, provenienti da diversi paesi europei, sono l’anima del corso, aperto a musicisti che intendono confrontarsi soprattutto con la musica da camera. A fianco degli studenti siedono docenti prestigiosi, con carriere artistiche già ampiamente riconosciute in ambito internazionale. Insomma una manifestazione, nel vivo della stagione estiva e turistica, alle quale rivolgiamo un’attenzione particolare in quanto riesce a coniugare profili tutti importanti: ambiente affascinante, musica di livello, alta formazione e giovani professionisti. Un’iniziativa culturale che vogliamo radicare nel nostro territorio, peraltro tradizionalmente aperto e sensibile ad ogni espressione musicale. I giovani musicisti, oltre ad approfondire la loro preparazione, potranno visitare, con i loro docenti, valli e scenari della Valdidentro e dell’intero bormiese, in un programma predisposto dalla Pro Loco locale. A tutti i partecipanti ed agli attivissimi organizzatori porgo sinceramente i migliori auguri di ripetere il grande successo delle edizioni precedenti, con un tributo di affettuosa gratitudine per aver individuato, proprio nella Valdidentro, la “location” della Masterclass 2013. Ezio Trabucchi It’s a pleasure for the Comune of Valdidentro, in Alta Valtellina, to host the 4th edition of the Masterclass, associated with the festival of classical music “LeAltreNote”. In the heart of Stilfserjoch National Park, not far from the mineral springs of “Bagni di Bormio”, located in an extraordinary enchanting environment, you can enjoy a striking experience of music, study and nature. The young students, coming from different Countries in Europe, are the soul of the course, opened to all the musicians who may like to put themselves on probation in, above all, chamber music. Together with the students, will stay eminent teachers, with worldwide recognized artistic careers. This event, taking place at the acme of the summer and touristic season, represent for us a source of pride because it combines several important elements: fascinating scenery, high standard music, quality training and young professional musicians. Our intent is to settle this event in our territory, which is traditionally sensitive to all musical expressions. The young musicians will deepen their skills, and besides they could visit with their teachers, the valleys and environment of Valdidentro and neighborhoods following a program conceived by the local tourist board. I extend my best wishes to all the participants and organizers to double the great success of the previous editions. Giunta alla ottava edizione, la Masterclass ha una nuova sede che per efficiente logistica e impareggiabili bellezze architettoniche e naturali non potrà che essere fonte d’ispirazione per tutti coloro i quali convergeranno in Valdidentro per partecipare ai corsi e alle iniziative concertistiche de LeAltreNote. Con i nuovi corsi di arpa e di composizione nonché con il laboratorio di improvvisazione, la Masterclass prosegue nel suo piano di espansione, che mira sia a fornire il più ampio ventaglio di proposte didattiche possibile che a proporre un modo innovativo di fare musica con e per i giovani. Scopo precipuo dell’organizzazione e dei docenti è far si che i giorni passati dagli studenti in Valdidentro siano una occasione di crescita basata sulla condivisione di esperienze umane e musicali significative. È per questa ragione che la musica da camera – una delle espressioni artistiche di più alto valore civico e civile – svolge un ruolo cruciale nei piani di studio della Masterclass e trova la più ampia valorizzazione in concerti in cui gli studenti, frequentissimamente accompagnati dai loro docenti, offrono al pubblico i frutti delle loro ricerche musicali. Convinti che questa edizione segni un momento importante nello sviluppo dell’educazione e della produzione musicale in Valtellina, auguriamo ai partecipanti e alla comunità che li ospita giorni indimenticabili di grande musica. Il Direttore della Masterclass Stefano Parrino Now at its eighth edition, the Masterclass has a new location that, in view of its efficient logistics and unmatchable natural and architectural beauties, will be a source of inspiration for all those who will come to Valdidentro to take part in LeAltreNote’s courses and music happenings. With the new harp and composition courses as well as with the improvisation workshop, the Masterclass carries on with its plan of expansion, which aims both to provide the greatest possible range of educational offers and to introduce an innovative way to make music with and for the youth. The main goal of the organising and teaching staff is to ensure that the days spent in Valdidentro by the students are an opportunity for growth based on the sharing of significant human and musical experiences. It is for this reason that chamber music – one of the most civilised forms of artistic expression – plays a crucial role in the Masterclass’s curriculum and is emphasised through concerts in which the students, very often accompanied by their teachers, present the public with the results of their musical researches. Convinced that this edition marks an important stage in the development of music education and production in Valtellina, we wish all the participants and the community that hosts them unforgettable days of great music. Francesco Parrino
Violino - Violin
Plurilaureato in prestigiose istituzioni universitarie europee, ha studiato violino con Yfrah Neaman e David Takeno. Ha vinto vari premi nazionali ed internazionali e collaborato come solista con varie orchestre. Sia come solista che come camerista, si è esibito in importanti teatri e sale da concerto in Europa e nelle Americhe. Suona su due bei violini: un Gaetano Gadda (1950 circa) e un Giuseppe & Antonio Gagliano (1790-1805 circa) generosamente prestatogli dagli eredi del grande direttore d’orchestra Gino Marinuzzi. Francesco attualmente insegna presso il Conservatorio “Luca Marenzio” di Darfo Boario Terme ed è un artista Stradivarius. Possessing several degrees from prestigious European universities, he studied violin under Yfrah Neaman and David Takeno. He has won various national and international prizes and collaborated as a soloist with various orchestras. Both as a soloist and chamber player, he has performed in important theatres and concert halls in Europe and in the Americas. He plays on two beautiful violins: a Gaetano Gadda (circa 1950), and a Giuseppe & Antonio Gagliano (circa 1790-1805) that he has been generously lent by the heirs of the great conductor Gino Marinuzzi. Francesco is currently teaching at the Conservatorio “Luca Marenzio” in Darfo Boario Terme and is a Stradivarius artist.
Jouko Mansnerus
Viola - Viola Ha studiato viola alla Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, al Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, Roma, e alla Scuola di Musica della Radio Svedese, Edsberg. Prima viola in varie importanti orchestre (Orchestra Sinfonica della Radio Svedese, Orchestra Sinfonica della Radio Finlandese, Orchestra Barocca Finlandese, ecc.), è attualmente un membro della Pietarsaari Sinfonietta e insegna al Politecnico Novia di Pietarsaari. È stato docente di viola alla Sibelius Academy a partire dal 1982 e ha suonato come solista e camerista (è stato membro del Quartetto Sibelius ed attualmente fa parte del Quartetto Rantatie) in tutto il mondo. He studied viola at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, Rome, and at the Swedish Radio Music School, Edsberg. A leader in several important orchestras (the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Finnish Baroque Orchestra etc.), he is currently a member of the Pietarsaari Sinfonietta and teaches at the Polytechnics Novia in Pietarsaari. He has been lecturer in viola at the Sibelius Academy since 1982 and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician (he was a member of the Sibelius Quartet and currently plays in the Rantatie Quartet) throughout the world.

Violoncello - Cello
Virtuoso del violoncello finlandese, ha studiato con Arto Noras alla Sibelius Academy ed è apparso con quasi tutte le orchestre finlandesi e in recital solistici e cameristici in Finlandia, Cina, Danimarca, Spagna, Estonia, Svezia, Islanda e Germania. Ha vinto molti premi in importanti concorsi (Paulo Cello Competition, Turku Cello Competition, Jyväskylä Baltic-Nordic duo competition) e nel 2008 ha vinto il primo International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition oltreché il premio speciale per la migliore esecuzione del concerto per violoncello di Penderecki. È stabilmente nei ranghi della Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra dal 2006. Ha registrato per la Radio Televisione finlandese YLE e la sua esecuzione della Cheremissian Fantasy è stata pubblicata da Ondine. A virtuoso Finnish cellist, he studied under Arto Noras at the Sibelius Academy and has appeared with most Finnish orchestras and in solo and chamber recitals in Finland, China, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Sweden, Iceland and Germany. He won many prizes in important contests (Paulo Cello Competition, Turku Cello Competition, Jyväskylä Baltic-Nordic duo competition) and in 2008 he won the 1st International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition as well as the special prize for the best performance of Penderecki's cello concerto. He has been in the regular ranks of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra since 2006. He recorded for the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE and his performance of Cheremissian Fantasy was released by Ondine.
Sophie Hallynck
Arpa - Harp Dopo aver studiato al Conservatoire National Supérieur di Parigi, ha ottenuto presso il Conservatoire Royal de Musique di Bruxelles le lauree con lode in arpa e in musica da camera sotto la guida di Francette Bartholomée. Due giorni dopo è diventata l’arpa solista dell’Opéra Royal de Wallonie dopo un difficile concorso. Sophie è fortemente impegnata nella vita musicale belga. È stata vice presidente della “Jeunesses musicales de la communauté française de Belgique” e presidente dell’associazione “Les Amis de la harpe mosane”, che organizza la International Harp Competition Félix Godefroid e l’ “Harp day”. Attualmente insegna arpa e musica da camera in due università belghe: l’ IMEP di Namur e la Hogeschool Antwerpen. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, she obtained in the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles the high diploma in both harp and chamber music with the highest marks with Francette Bartholomée. Two days later she became solo harpist of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie after a challenging audition. Sophie is strongly involved in the Belgian music life. She was vice-president of the “Jeunesses musicales de la communauté française de Belgique” and president of the association “Les Amis de la harpe mosane”, which organizes the International Harp Competition Félix Godefroid and the “Harp day”. She currently teaches harp and chamber music in two Belgian Universities: the IMEP in Namur and in the Hogeschool Antwerpen
Iñigo Alonso
Clarinetto - Clarinet
Ha studiato clarinetto e clarinetto basso con Walter Boeykens e Jan Guns al Reale Conservatorio Fiammingo di Anversa e dopo con Andrew Marriner alla Royal Academy of Music a Londra. Iñigo è stato membro di importanti ensemble di musica contemporanea (Aquarius Ensemble, Champ D'Action, Composers Ensemble, New Music Players, Trio Bernaola, ecc.) e ha suonato in importanti orchestre (Orchestra Sinfonica d Bilbao, Orchestra del Teatro Liceu, Orchestra Filarmonica di Anversa, Orchestra della Radio Televisione del Belgio, ecc.) con direttori come Michael Tilson-Thomas, Christoph Eschenbach e Mstislav Rostropovich. A parte la sua carriera di clarinettista freelance, Iñigo è direttore del Corso Internazionale di Musica Vitoria-Gasteiz. He studied clarinet and bass clarinet under Walter Boeykens and Jan Guns at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Antwerp and later with Andrew Marriner at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Iñigo has been a member of important contemporary music ensembles (Aquarius Ensemble, Champ D’Action, Composers Ensemble, New Music Players, Trio Bernaola etc.) and has played in major orchestras (Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, Liceo Theatre Orchestra, Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra, Belgium Radio Television Orchestra etc.) under such conductors as Michael Tilson-Thomas, Christoph Eschenbach and Mstislav Rostropovich. Beside his career as freelance, Iñigo is the director of the International Music Course VitoriaGasteiz.
Stefano Parrino
Flauto - Flute
Pluridiplomato nelle più importanti scuole musicali europee, con docenti come Peter-Lukas Graf, Maxence Larrieu, Patrick Gallois, William Bennett, Stefano si dedica all’attività concertistica sia come solista che come camerista. Si è esibito in Europa, Nord e Sud America. Come solista ha collaborato con le orchestre da camera Gli Armonici, Stesichoros, Symphonia della Royal Academy di Londra,e con le orchestre sinfoniche “Arturo Toscanini”, Filarmonica di San Pietroburgo, EAOSS di Palermo. Affianca all’attività concertistica quella di docente. Ha tenuto master class in tutta Europa, Sud e Nord America sia di flauto che di respirazione continua, tecnica della quale Stefano è ricercatore e divulgatore internazionalmente riconosciuto. Registra per Stradivarius. He obtained diplomas from the most important European music schools, with teachers like Peter-Lukas Graf, Maxence Larrieu, Patrick Gallois and William Bennett. Stefano dedicates himself to performing in concerts both as a soloist and as a chamber music musician. He has performed in Europe and North and South America. As a soloist, he has collaborated with the chamber orchestras Gli Armonici, Stesichoros, the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra of London, and the symphonic orchestras “Arturo Toscanini”, St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Palermo Symphony. He combines his concertising activity with that of teaching. He has given master classes in all of Europe, South and North America, both in the flute and in continuous respiration, a technique for which Stefano is an internationally recognised researcher and populariser. He records for Stradivarius.
Alessandro Marangoni
Pianoforte - Piano Ha studiato con Maria Tipo alla Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. Contemporaneamente si è laureato in Filosofia presso l’Università di Pavia, alunno dell’Almo Collegio Borromeo. Ha debuttato nel 2007 al Teatro alla Scala di Milano insieme a Daniel Barenboim. Tiene regolarmente concerti come solista, collaborando anche con personalità, tra le quali Aldo Ceccato, Enrico Dindo, Quirino Principe e il Nuovo Quartetto Italiano. E’ il pianista del Trio Albatros Ensemble. Ha suonato inoltre all‘Accademia di Santa Cecilia e Cappella Paolina a Roma, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Rossini Opera Festival. Collabora con l’attrice Valentina Cortese. E’ impegnato nella registrazione integrale dei "Peccati di vecchiaia" di Rossini e del "Gradus ad parnassum" di Clementi per la Naxos. Con Pierpaolo Venier ha ideato il Chromoconcerto®.
On December 2007 Alessandro Marangoni played at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, with Daniel Barenboim. He studied piano with Maria Tipo in Italy and graduated with honours in philosophy at the Università di Pavia (merit student of the Almo Collegio Borromeo). As a chamber musician he collaborated with some of the most important personalities, including Aldo Ceccato, Enrico Dindo, Quirino Principe and the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano. He plays with the Trio Albatros Ensemble. He collaborates with the Italian actress Valentina Cortese. He is recording the complete piano works by Rossini (Pechès de vieillesse) and Clementi’s Gradus ad Parnassum for Naxos. With Pierpaolo Venier he created the Chromoconcerto®.

Ha studiato pianoforte e musica da camera al Conservatorio “Luigi Cherubini” di Firenze, al Conservatorio di Sydney e alla Indiana University oltre che con Pascal Rogé, Georgy Sebok, Ivan Moravec e Pier Narciso Masi. Suona in Europa, negli Stati Uniti e in Australia, partecipando ai programmi dei principali festival e teatri. Ha realizzato numerose registrazioni e collaborato con musicisti come Michael Nyman, Enrico Rava e Stefano Bollani. Alessandra è attiva sia come solista che come membro del gruppo cameristico cross-over Harmonia. Insegna musica da camera presso il Conservatorio “Arcangelo Corelli” di Messina. She studied piano and chamber music at the Conservatorio “Luigi Cherubini” in Florence, at the Sydney Conservatorium and at the Indiana University as well as with Pascal Rogé, Georgy Sebok, Ivan Moravec and Pier Narciso Masi. She performs in Europe, the United States and Australia, playing in the main international festivals and theatres. Fabrizio De Rossi Re Improvvisazione e Composizione- Improvisation and Composition 31.08 - 08.09 Ha studiato composizione al Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, Roma, e con importanti musicisti come Luciano Berio, Sylvano Bussotti, Salvatore Sciarrino, e il pianista jazz Umberto Cesari. Insegna Elementi di Composizione presso il Conservatorio “Giovan Battista Pergolesi”, Fermo, e Didattica dell’improvvisazione e della composizione presso l’Università del Lazio. Compositore e membro di Nuova Consonanza, ha spesso preso parte a sessioni jazz con molti altri solisti, bilanciando l’eredità classica e jazz con la continua ricerca di nuove vie creative. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati e registrati da, tra gli altri, BMG Ariola, Fonit Cetra, RAI Trade, RCA e Sonzogno. He studied composition at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, Rome, and under leading musicians like Luciano Berio, Sylvano Bussotti, Salvatore Sciarrino, and the jazz pianist Umberto Cesari. He teaches Elements of Composition at the Conservatorio “Giovan Battista Pergolesi”, Fermo, and Didactics of Improvisation and Composition at the Università del Lazio. Composer and member of Nuova Consonanza, he has often participated to jazz sessions with many other soloists, balancing the classical and jazz heritage with the continuous research of new creative paths. His works have been published and recorded by, amongst others, BMG Ricordi, Fonit Cetra, RAI Trade, RCA and Sonzogno.
