Anticipated Honors

Honors designations for Spring/Summer 2026 J.D. candidates are based on grades earned through a candidate’s next-to-last semester. Final graduation honors for all degrees will be determined by the Registrar after final grades have been posted. Final graduation honors will appear on the diploma and official transcript.

Final Degree

The listing of degrees and academic honors for Spring/Summer 2026 candidates in this program are preliminary and subject to final degree requirement evaluation. A candidate earns a degree after the Registrar determines that the candidate has satisfactorily completed all graduation requirements and posted final grades on the official record. The diploma of Stetson University College of Law, signed and sealed by its appropriate officers, is the official public document evidencing that a degree has been awarded.

About Stetson University College of Law

Founded in 1900, Stetson University College of Law is Florida’s first law school. With its main law campus in Gulfport and a satellite campus in Tampa, Stetson is fully accredited by the American Bar Association and has been a member of the Association of American Law Schools since 1931.

Stetson Law is ranked one of the best in the nation for trial advocacy and legal writing. In addition to the juris doctor law degree, Stetson offers certificates of concentration in advocacy, business law, elder law, environmental law, international law, and social justice advocacy, dual-degree programs for the J.D./ M.B.A., J.D./M.I.E.B.L. and J.D./M.I.N.T.E.C., Joint J.D./LL.M. in Advocacy, and LL.M. degrees in advocacy, elder law, and international law. Stetson also offers advanced M.J. degrees for non-lawyers who wish to obtain a greater understanding of legal systems and concepts in the areas of international business, elder law, and healthcare compliance.

Stetson is home to the Centers for Excellence in Advocacy, Elder Law, Higher Education Law and Policy, and International Law, and Institutes for the Advancement of Legal Communication, Biodiversity Law, Caribbean Law and Policy, and Veterans Law. Stetson offers international programs in eight countries.

An international leader in advocacy education, Stetson has a long-standing record of championships at the international, national, regional, and state levels of interscholastic competition. Students can further expand their practical experience by participating in clinical or externship opportunities.

Stetson University’s DeLand campus is home to the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration, and School of Music.

The Symbols of Commencement

Academic Regalia: Academic disciplines are noted by color; law is represented as purple. The doctoral gown has bell sleeves with velvet chevrons on the sleeves and velvet on the panels. The hood is bound and edged with purple velvet and lined with green, the official color of Stetson University as the institution conferring the degree. The tam combines the symbolism of the book and that of a privileged guild. Students graduating with anticipated honors wear a gold tassel on the tam (J.D.)/cap (M.J.), and others wear a purple tassel denoting the discipline of law.

Students wearing purple cords are LL.M. graduates. Drab cords are worn by students graduating with the J.D./M.B.A. Purple and white cords are worn by students graduating with the Master of Jurisprudence. Gold cords are worn by students graduating with anticipated honors. Student leadership recognitions wear green cords. Student academic leaders and named award recipients wear green and white cords. Students wearing blue cords have earned the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service

Award. Students wearing red, white and blue cords represent U.S. Military Veterans. Students wearing gold, blue and red cords are members of Phi Delta Phi, an international legal honor society.

The Mace: The Stetson University Mace, used during all commencement ceremonies, is a ceremonial staff used as a symbol of the right to confer degrees. The Stetson mace, designed by Episcopalian Canon Edward Nason West of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, New York, was presented to President J. Ollie Edmunds in 1956.

The Medallion: The President’s Medallion, worn at official academic occasions, was first used for the inauguration of President John E. Johns in 1969. The silver medallion includes the University Seal embraced by a wreath of laurel. The circular seal, adopted between 1889 and 1891, bears the motto Pro Deo et Veritate (“For God and Truth”) and the Light of Truth resting on the Book of Wisdom.

MICHAEL J. LOPARCO is Co-founder and CEO of OrcaWorcs.ai, an AI-native operating platform focused on orchestrating complex workflows and business compliance across law, financial services, and industrial markets. He is a multi-time global technology CEO, Fortune 500 board member, licensed attorney, and venture investor.

Prior to co-founding OrcaWorcs, Mr. Loparco served as Chief Executive Officer of Symbotic, an AI-enabled, software-driven warehouse automation technology company with a market capitalization of approximately $20 billion, which he led through its successful public offering in June 2022 [NASDAQ: SYM]. During his tenure as CEO and board member, Mr. Loparco helped double the company’s customer-committed backlog to more than $10 billion, restructure and outsource key elements of its operations and supply chain to support hyperscale deployment, and grow company revenue by more than 100% year over year before transitioning to a Senior Advisor role to the Board of Directors.

Mr. Loparco previously spent more than two decades in executive positions at Jabil [NYSE: JBL], a Fortune 125 global technology company, where he helped grow the company from approximately $1 billion in revenue to more than $30 billion globally. In his most recent role, Mr. Loparco served as CEO of Jabil Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Executive Vice President. In this capacity, he was responsible for more than $22 billion in operations across 25 countries producing products in Automotive/EV, Medical, Aerospace & Defense, Cloud and AI Data Center, Telecom, Robotics & Automation, Industrial, Energy, and Consumer Technology markets. During his tenure at Jabil, Mr. Loparco also had responsibility for the company’s Enterprise IT organization, Global Procurement, Worldwide Supply Chain Strategy, and Corporate Strategic Investments covering numerous initiatives across the company, including the awardwinning digital supply chain analytics platform InControl™. His scope of responsibilities spanned more than 50 sites around the world and operations employing more than 100,000 people, utilizing ISO-certified and advanced Lean and Six Sigma practices.

Prior to joining Jabil, Mr. Loparco was a practicing attorney at Holland & Knight LLP, where he focused on business law and corporate and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts, including the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. He also served as a Certified Mediator in the State Courts of Florida and remains a licensed attorney and active member of the Florida Bar.

Today, Mr. Loparco serves on both public and private company boards in for-profit and nonprofit environments and is active in early-stage company development and venture capital investing. He frequently shares his insights as a featured speaker at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and MIT’s Operations Research Center.

Mr. Loparco resides in Tampa, Florida with his wife, Marcela, and their daughter, Isabella. During one of his two expatriate assignments in Asia spanning more than six years he and Marcela provided a “Healing Home” for numerous orphaned Chinese children with special needs through the BaoBei Organization. Mr. Loparco later served for 15 years on the Florida board of Gift of Adoption (501(c)(3)), assisting some of the world’s most vulnerable parentless children.

Mr. Loparco is a proud graduate of Stetson University College of Law, cum laude, Class of 1996.
