Steppingstone envisions a world where all students can actualize the life-transforming benefits of a college degree.
Steppingstone envisions a world where all students can actualize the life-transforming benefits of a college degree.
Dear Friends,
We are pleased to share our annual report celebrating Steppingstone’s impact over the 2024–2025 year, empowered by your support.
There are so many ways to measure what this community has achieved together, meeting and even exceeding our ambitious fundraising goals this year. We could count the number of Scholars who gained admission to independent schools and exam schools, the number of 1:1 financial aid conversations Advisors completed with high school seniors, the number of colleges and universities where Scholars have enrolled and graduated, and so much more. (In the following pages, you will find that we do.)
But what “counts,” more than anything, is something beyond measure.
A young Academy Scholar reminded us of this:
“Steppingstone made me feel VERY welcome, and everyone here—the staff, the Scholars—everyone is kind, and I do not think I have received such hope in a world like this.”
Hope is what we need more than anything through trying times. It helps us envision a brighter future. A better life for families. A stronger city, commonwealth, and nation.
Hope is not something we simply find; it is something we create. It is what each and every gift has made possible, supporting Scholars as they work toward their dreams—for three decades and more to come.
Thank you for emboldening our important work toward a future where all students can actualize the life-transforming benefits of a college degree. Here’s to the strength of our community and the hope that we create together, for 35 years… and counting.
Kelly D. Glew President & CEO
Robert P. Henderson, Jr. Board Chair
Steppingstone
At Steppingstone, we invest in futures. We work to eliminate barriers in education to positively impact Scholars, their families, and our larger community.
With 35 years of experience, our results are proven.
Steppingstone provides Scholars with an environment that pairs high expectations with meaningful support. While Scholars’ accomplishments are diverse, they all share a love of learning, a commitment to education, and the knowledge that they can rise to any challenge with confidence in their own abilities to succeed.

Steppingstone helps Scholars gain admission to schools that lead to college.
Placement schools are the independent and public schools where Scholars enroll after they complete the Academy division of the Steppingstone Scholars Program. Each of these schools shares a commitment to helping Scholars thrive. They all maintain high rates of graduation and college enrollment, and those that charge tuition offer financial aid to Scholars and families based on need.
