General Information

Join us in Charlotte, as we Turn the Page to a new era at Narrow Brook Shorthorns. We have continued along the path of breeding cattle that have a show ring appeal, but most importantly our true focus has been on producing cattle that have staying power. The only way to get staying power is concentrating on conception rates, calving intervals, feet and leg structure and forage conversion. Combine all these traits and the cattle earn their right to stay around. Our most satisfying accomplishments are how well the NBS prefix excels in other herds and environments. We have diversified over the years as well, putting a focus on the Shorthorn plus program and bringing in some Hereford genetics to round out our portfolios.

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or check payable to Narrow Brook Enterprises. Payment by electronic check (no processing fee) or credit card (with processing fee of 3.75%) available. Payments to be made to the clerk immediately following the sale and before the cattle are removed from the sale site. Purchasers or their representative must sign the bill of sale prior to leaving the sale site.

Billed Accounts: All billed accounts are due withing 10 days following the date of the sale. After 10 days a 2% service charge will be added every 30 days and thereafter unless arrangements have been made with seller or sale manager.

Delivery: Every effort will be made to assist you in the delivery of your purchases. If you have any questions, please contact a consignor.

Insurance: Will be available through Hugh F. Miller Agency - American Livestock Insurance, Inc - Pete Miller, Representative at (815) 878-0437 Health: Each animal will be represented by a state approved health certificate for interstate shipment. Buyer should make themselves aware of the health requirements for their respective state.

Breeding Guarantee: All cattle sell under the Standard Breeding Guarantee recommended by the American Shorthorn Association. An exception would be through mishandling either obesity or under nourishment and illegal practices associated with showing the animal.

Telephone & Online Bids: Telephone bids will be handled in the most confidential manner. Please call one of our sale consultants or representatives to handle your purchase if you cannot be present. Live internet broadcast and online bidding by Willoughby Sales at wlivestock.com.

Liability: Each animal will be at the buyer’s risk as soon as sold with every effort made to insure it’s safety. Neither the owners, consignors, employees, auctioneer or other affiliated personnel can be held responsible or liable for any accidents, or illness in the current environment, as a result of attending the sale. We will make every effort to provide for the safety and comfort of those attending. Face mask and social distancing are recommended but not required.

Registration and Transfer: All purebred animals sell with completed pedigrees or applications for registration. Transfers and registrations will be done by sellers.

Breeding Update/Calving Information: There will be added information available at the sale that will list any additions to the catalog information as to new calves born and new breeding information that will occur after the printing of this catalog.

Semen & Embryos: Semen & embryos will be on site day of sale or shipping can be arranged with seller.

Embryo Terms: We wish to retain two successful flushes at our expense and the owners convenience as noted in the comments of the individual lots.

2020 has been a year of great loss with the passing of the matriarch of the Miller family in August - my mother, Betty. Followed by the loss of our good friend, Vic Parker, who lost his battle with cancer a few weeks later. We have been working with Vic over the years as a cooperator herd and willingly offered to disperse his cow herd for his daughters. The pregnancies we are offering are in recips from the Parker program. You will have many opportunities here, as Vic’s program was very diversified.
