It is truly exciting that the Shorthorn Breed can support two National Sales with unbelievable quality offerings in both events! Thank you to everyone who contributes to the success of these sales. It is amazing to me of what the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund (SYDF) has accomplished in the last five years with the single goal of supporting the National Junior Shorthorn Show and our Shorthorn Youth. None of this would be possible with you supporting the SYDF efforts that a very dedicated Board of Directors continues to organize and orchestrate throughout the course of the year. I am honored to serve on this Board with Julie McMahon-French, Nancy Grathwohl-Heter, Jerry Nickel, Kevin Wendt, Mark Gordon and Montie Soules. I would also be remiss if I didn’t thank Shelby Diehm, the entire American Shorthorn Association Staff, and the American Junior Shorthorn Association Board of Directors for all the hard work they put in on behalf of Shorthorns and SYDF. The Shorthorn Youth Development Fund was established in 2020 to provide financial support to develop Shorthorn Youth as cattle producers and responsible, productive citizens. The fund is dedicated to enriching the lives of youth interested in agriculture, through support of the educational & leadership activities of the American Junior Shorthorn Association. The SYDF is a non-profit organziation and resource that allows you to directly invest in the future of the breed that is your business, your lifestyle and your passion. This platform streamlines the donation process to make contributing to youth more accessible to everyone, especially those whose business directly benefits from junior and family customers. There are many ways to donate. You can donate a lot in your sale to become part of the Royal Society Club or make an annual pledge to the Shorthorn Red, White and Roan Club. Membership level for each club is based on the actual monetary value of your donation. Club members receive recognition in many forms. The fund accepts checks, cash and credit cards. You can even set up your contribution to be billed directly to your DigitalBeef Registry Account. No contribution is too small, and ever dollar counts! By making the commitment to pay it forward through your pledge to the SYDF, today’s breeders accept responsibility of seeing to it that our youth have the opportunities they need to be the breeders of tomorrow!
