It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Sho-Me Shorthorns complete herd dispersal. Several factors have played a role in our decision to disperse our cow herd in its entirety. We need to devote our time to our meat business and the loss of available pasture ground. We have had back to back dry summers followed by the coldest winter in 35 years. This is a grass based cow herd. Breeding females and bulls are grazed on fescue pasture during grazing season and fed ground fescue hay and stored grass in the winter. All cows and heifers are expected to calve unassisted have solid udders and breed back in a timely manner. This herd is run like a commercial herd. All herd bulls carry the Sho Me prefix. There will be cows that are flush quality. Cows that will raise a calf every year just like clockwork. There are 6 to 8 unregistered purebred cows that came from an old commercial purebred herd. A few weaned fall heifers, a select group of open yearling heifers. Spring pairs and bred cows. Spring 2014 show calves prospects sired by Gold Stone. Fall cows will be pregnancy tested and vaccinated ready for grass. We have culled the olders cows and open cows. Bring your semen tank as we will sell all semen and embryos. Not a lot of pictures as the weather has not cooperated. It was too cold to wash and slick the cows for pictures so we got a few pictures of the cattle in their working clothes. Come sale day things will be looking a lot better with warmer weather and green grass. Make plans to attend as there is something for everyone. Sho Me Gold Stone 7C15V. The day he was born you could tell he was special. Naturally thick smooth shoulder and calves with tiny heads. Although has birth rate on his pedigree was a large we preceded with caution. First cows than heifers and to this day we have never pulled one of his calves along as they were presented right. I would use him on any heifer that we have raised and not worry about it. Next he put ideal females back in the herd with nice udders. He also produces outstanding carcasses which is very important for our meat business. Show cattle heifers and steers they get better the longer you own them. He has also sires herd bulls with style to burn. His semen sells as Lot 88. His full sister sells as Lot 1. The best set of embryos we have ever purchased. He died suddenly last fall from cherry leaf poisoning.

Show Me Gold Rush 2B13F is the best son here at Show Me Shorthorns. We will have calves out of him by sale day. He is royally bred and his dam sells as Lot 3. No picture yet as he is more interested in looking at you than he is for posing for a picture. He is out running in a pasture this winter and the winer has been challenging. Will have him home in time for the sale.
