Good Cattle = Good People = Good Business

This summer we’ve been reminded more than once that the banners’ won, or the sale’s topped really don’t mean a thing without the people that make it possible. Our industry has had its share of loss in the last year; from people we’ve known very well to those that we’ve admired from afar. One message has stayed consistent – our relationships with people are what makes this industry one that we’ve built our business on.

The number of good people that we have encountered in this industry warms our hearts and means more to us that the banners achieved. These good people have made our business good business. Something we are happy to hang our hat on. And that “good people” philosophy isn’t just for our customers, but to our employees, contractors, and vendors. Work isn’t work when you do it with good people.

This set of cattle offered has truly been a labor of love with some of these “good people”. From our embryo herd partners, to our employees caring for them day in and day out, to those of you who have shown interest, we feel that this offering of cattle represents the best of our genetics from both tried and true donors, as well as some up and coming young cows we are proud to show off.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions and thank you for your interest in PVF.

Sincerely,

- Alan & Theresa

- Brandon & Cathy

PVF BLACKBIRD 5046 1

Leading off this Fall’s Sale with an elite individual who offers the freshest genetics at Prairie View Farms. Sired by the Select Sires feature, PVF Capone 2104, whose first progeny have created as much positive feedback as any sire ever produced at PVF. The dam is an impressive young Good Times daughter who is a maternal sister to PVF The Natural 7042. This heifer hails from the same genetics that produced Blacklist and Grand Champion females at nearly every National Angus Show. As just a three-year-old, 2201 is rapidly cementing her place as the new lead off donor in our program. Her first three progeny averaged more than $40,000 in our Spring Production Sale. A powerful show and donor prospect, the dam of Lot 38, PVF Proven Queen 5094 is a direct daughter of Insight from our foundation Proven Queen 010 who transmitted more power and ruggedness than any donor to ever roam the pastures at Prairie View Farms. This female’s show potential will only be exceeded by her producing ability.

We take the business of breeding better Angus seriously. We understand that you have many options of where to invest in Angus genetics, so we attempt to go above and beyond to differentiate ourselves.

DNA TESTING ... We began DNA testing every female born at PVF ten years ago. Animals in this sale have been DNA verified for parentage and will display genetically enhanced EPD’s at sale time. We believe the more you know about your purchase the more predictable the outcome will be not only as a show project but as a breeding piece. This starts with making sure that the animal you buy is exactly what we think it is.

HERD HEATH ... In addition to our normal herd health vaccinations, all sale heifers were BVD tested, with results appearing with their DNA results on the American Angus Association website. We realize many shows require this test so we can provide that information for you if necessary. All calves have also been given the official calfhood brucellosis vaccine.

DISPOSITION ... We understand that most of these calves will see the showring and in many cases with younger exhibitors. These calves have not only been broke to tie but have also been led extensively and had show stick work. This does not necessarily mean they are show broke and they will still need work at their new homes, but we have done our best to eliminate any potential problems. If you have specific questions or concerns, please contact us.

IDENTIFICATION ... All animals have tattoos in both ears and have visual as well as EID tags. EID information has been submitted to the American Angus Association and is on file as the primary identification with tattoo as secondary. Tattoos fade and EIDS get lost so please double check before showing and let us know if there are any issues we can help with.

REGISTRATION ... All animals are registered with the American Angus Association. Papers are stored electronically and ready for immediate transfer upon payment.
