As we help you select bulls and maitings, our goal is to make you grow for generations and impact your productivity every year. We believe that these bulls and our ability to provide you with a high quality product and to accurately inform you on how to best use them will keep you ahead of an ever-changing industry. The 2014 breeding season is here and we invite you to study our bull line up. We know that every year there are more and more sires to chose from, and many are fine choices however we pay special attention to a few key traits that we feel are very important as we select bulls. First, we believe “Just like every good man, had a good mother, every good bull has a good cow behind him.” As a bull grows and matures more and more of his mothers traits are exhibited. Our bulls are backed by some of the most dominating show heifers, prolific donors and productive cow families in the country. There is no question in our minds that the bulls in our line up when used correctly, will sire steers of the highest quality and the most attractive show heifers along with the most productive cows. Second, we take structure and soundness very seriously. For us, our bulls must sire calves that grow and perform... they have to be functional. The bulls listed in this catalog must work in Western Oklahoma on our native grass pasture…They must be able to travel lots of terrain for food and water stay in good condition on limited amounts of feed and get cows bred. Our bulls are not going to spend there life in a nice pen at stud they have to work to wear the K-Bar brand. For you, our bulls must also sire animals with the ability to move correctly and freely this makes it far easier for them to perform. As performance increases so do things such as fleshing ability and longevity. Having show cattle that feed more efficiently, live longer and produce more, benefit the junior members, owners and the producers. Third is overall completeness, we have chosen bulls that put the most good things in one total package. We have bulls that are bred different and definitely look different. As we study them however, you can see that they combine power, eye appeal, structural soundness, body dimension and capacity along with the backing of a powerful cow family. We are confident that between our new bulls and the tried and true bulls we have a bull to improve every mating within your herd. Between Dean and Mat there is 50 plus years of breeding experience. We love the show cattle industry and want to see it to continue to get better in an ever changing industry.
